A few days ago, I had to drive my teenager to the mall and had a few hours to kill while she shopped. Oddly, the local art school, Ringling, had created a mini theater in the mall in which they showed off various films by their students. And, being an insane lover of film shorts, I sat back and watched about a dozen of these films. They all were quite good.
The story is about a robot whose leg, inexplicably, falls off and won't stay put. By the end, however, the robot has an unexpected windfall--and the other robots are all jealous.
While the story is decent for "A Leg Up", the real purpose is to show off Bevin Carnes' excellent CGI--which has really helped in getting jobs post-Ringling in the film industry. I could understand how the big studios would be impressed by the robots in this cute little animation as they look quite professional.
