Great title, great film
The title refers to the saying "see Naples then die" (which originally referred to the beauty of the city) now takes on its literal meaning as the city is ridden with trash, drugs, and crime. Many times the saying "go to Naples" really means "go to hell." But anyway I digress...
'See Naples... Then Die' is a Solid Depth Charge production with plenty of brutality, laughs, and great locations. Stielstra does a great job playing a bevy of characters -- my favorite of which being the metal singer/guitarist whose name escapes me. Highlights include some amazing squib work, a hilarious metal music video, thrilling shootouts, and a powerful yet highly unexpected ending.
Though I expected something more along the lines of a poliziottesco, I really enjoyed seeing the Italian actors and locations. Unfortunately, however we never get to actually "see" Naples (the real one at least) in the movie as Rome and a number of northern Italian cities serve as stand-ins.
All in all, a highly entertaining film even if it feels a little too homemade.
Would love to see the film's amazing cover art uploaded to this site.
