Melanie Laurent started learning to play the violin only a few months before production. For the concert scenes, she learned all the bow movements, so her bow would always be on the correct string and move convincingly. However, her left hand (and sometimes arm) were digitally added/replaced in post-production.

The Concert (2009)'s original score was composed by Armand Amar with one track written by Radu Mihaileanu ("Le Trou Normand"). The musical work which has a central role in the film and is played during the final scene is the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Classical selections by Gustav Mahler, Felix Mendelssohn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Aram Khachaturyan are also included on the soundtrack.
The Concert (2009) won the Best Original Score and Best Sound awards at César Awards 2010. It was also nominated for two Magritte Awards in the category of Best Film in Coproduction and Best Editing for Ludo Troch in 2011, and Best Foreign Film at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.
