Well, that was just stupid ...

I really liked "Machine Girl", but this short was too ridiculous to enjoy. Somebody must have had some money left over after the main feature was in the can, and wanted to give his girlfriend a little more exposure.

I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy much of Yoshie's training, and her peppy dances, but the plot(?), writing(?) and acting(?) ruined it for me. I would rather have seen a short in which Yoshie was saved from death, and trained to become a good basketball player, in Ami's honor. Or beach volleyball player ... that would have worked, too.

If you watch this, do yourself a favor: ignore the story, and focus on the visuals, if you know what I mean ... and I think you do.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Hajirai Machine Girl" or "Shyness Machine Girl" is a Japanese 22-minute live action short film from 2009, so this one will have its 10th anniversary two years from now. The writer and director is Noboru Iguchi and this one here is directly connected to "Kataude mashin gâru", his most known work perhaps, as several characters from the full feature film show up here too. One of them would be the central character who apparently was the protagonist's best friend and she takes on her job now as a gun-firing killer assassin. After some training of course, training that is packed with (not very) subtle explicit references. Yeah you could absolutely call this film a sex comedy from start to finish and the fact that she has a machine gun installed to her butt is just one of the less explicit references. I am not sure if this was a good watch, don't think so, but it definitely has some guilty pleasure trash potential, which is why I would say this is even an underseen film. And yes it sure was embarrassing somehow how she talked about being embarrassed and that resulted in her bringing the big guns (no pun intended). From some weird perspective, it actually is a sexy and funny film, but you need to be a bit f*cked up to see it as such I guess. A good film it is certainly not, in terms of production values. I give it a thumbs-down all in all.

More like a Youtube video than an actual short

Warning: Spoilers
We have the villains and the guy who made the machine gun for Machine girl all brought back to life. It's not explained why. The villains spend a lot of time mugging at the camera (they know this short sucks and don't bother) and yeah, the gun maker puts a machine gun in the girl's ass. We don't see him put it in there.

The ass machine gun was kind of embarrassing to watch. I was worried that someone would come into the room and see me watching it.

"What the hell are you watching?"

The only bit I did like is when the villains eyes pop out, that made me chuckle.

And we don't see Ami in the movie at all, just in stock footage and we have a Lion King moment at the end.

The film ends with the girl dancing away in the credits.

Extremely silly stuff

Warning: Spoilers
Shy Japanese schoolgirl Yoshie (adorable Noriko Kijima) survives a near fatal blow to the head. After undergoing extensive training and receiving a few body modifications, Yoshie decides to get revenge on the heinous criminals who killed her friend Ami and left her for dead.

Loaded with plenty of outrageous violence and over-the-top excessive gore, but seriously marred by puerile humor (Yoshie has a machine gun that juts out of her butt), histrionic overacting, cartoonishly evil villains, dodgy CGI effects, childish sadism, dopey flashbacks, and an absolutely ridiculous plot (characters who were chopped up and bumped off in "The Machine Girl" are somehow both miraculously alive and intact!), this mercifully brief 22-minute short is quite simply too dumb and inane to recapture the infectiously trashy thrills of "The Machine Girl."

A 22 minutes masterpiece. Fans of Machine Girl, will surely enjoy this short cult flick. First of all, this is not a sequel to The Machine Girl. Its a spin off. The story revolves of Ami's friend(Noriko) who was killed and stabbed in the head by the Yakuza Gang Leaders Wife and after a week, she was saved by a mechanice(You don't say and I saw him being chopped off by Shurikens. The stupidity started to increase.) So, she remembered about her past and decided to avenge her friend Ami. Spoiling this short movie will ruin your motivation. Okay, it was entertaining and funny at the same time. Especially the Machine Gun on her ass. Mostly the short movie succeeded on comedy but not on action. The special effects are low and the acting is stupid(Really, Really Bad=Entertainment). Recommended for Fans.
