With our wit, and our hearts, and our teamwork...

And a thousand pies.

Damn you songwriters for introducing songs into your lovely, gentle, colourful world of adventure, righteousness and bravery.

As a 35 year old, I can admit, that on viewing number 3 of the day, I too was singing along. The kids love it, it's educational, it's lovely. I've even looked on amazon music for the soundtrack.

Octonauts take a dive into the world of musicals
lucy-partridge22 October 2020
When me and my kids started watching and the first song started I was a bit reluctant, but there's some decent songs in here. My favourite being at thousand pies'. It's a good length of about 45 minutes. Nice little 'battle' style story with familiar and caring characters.

Octonauts meets Les Mis
hearnemichael18 October 2020
As a 36 year old parent, this may be the greatest movie of the past decade. If you loved Russel Crowe in Les Miserables (2012) , then look no further than Captain Barnacle's Pirate Pies song. What an amazing deep baritone voice.

Sure the kids love it, but treat yourself. Where can I download the soundtrack? I need to add 1000 pies to my workout mix.

BETTER THAN HAMILTON!!!!!!!!!!
taylorhastie25 October 2020
THIS IS A WORK OF ART. As soon as the music started playing I was utterly captivated. The compelling tale of a small sea creature trying to find his way in the ocean is something I think will resonate with everyone. not to mention the SONGS!!! THE BATTLE SONG gave me massive Les Mis vibes. A THOUSAND PIES A FREAKEN BANGER. ALSO CAPTAIN BARNACLE'S DEEP VOICE DAMN SON!!!!! I HAVE never BEEN THIS IMPRESSED SINCE HAMILTON!!!!! The songs and plot are well crafted pieces of literal gold LITERAL GOLD!!! I WOULD RIP OUT MY TEETH AND HAIR JUST TO SEE A LIVE BROADWAY VERSON OF THIS.

So to summarise this is amazing 10 stars watch only if you want to be critically amazed.

Thankyou

Not anything like the series. Waaaaaaaay to much singing. Every 2 minutes was a song. My kids like it but my God it's not like the series.

I had my doubts
noukygaetjens17 October 2020
I was very unsure of the musical. My son (3.5yo) and i are big fans of the show. We greatly enjoyed the movie on Coba's journey. My son loved the musical right from the bat. I thought it was ok. As i started to learn the song i now sing my heart out. I really enjoy the musical. My favorite song is the battle song. Lyrics and harmonies are awesome.

Not for long time fans

During the film I loved the animation quality and seeing another revival of the show but the singing got in the way of the story a lot. to me the singing seemed like filler since without any of it the movie would have been the length of a normal episode.

the singing just too boring - 3/10

Captain Barnacles Gives Me Washington Vibes
slightly_nutty1 November 2020
I love this! Octonauts is a big favourite in our house and I love musicals so it's nice to have 3 year old friendly musicals to start introducing my daughter to. She absolutely loves it and it's the perfect length of time to keep her amused but not bore her like feature length films do at her age. She loves the characters and the story and I think the songs are fantastic, I get real "Washington from Hamilton" vibes from Captain Barnacles singing voice! Really good fun and a lovely story too about everyone working together. A firm favourite in our house!

Entirely mediocre
Cappomutato28 April 2021
Octonauts, at their very best, is an uninspired and formulaic show that is inoffensive and marginally educational. This movie, however, is an obnoxious brain dead musical. Musicals are bad enough, but this one couldn't even muster it's way to the low bar set by most children's songs. Pass on this one.

Very professionally done

This is my toddlers favorite show, he will even start singing the songs to tell us he wants to watch it. The music and story are even good enough that we dont mind watching it over and over with him. My only complaint is that they felt the need to have a different actor do the singing for captain Barnacles. Totally unnecessary move.

for the reef. for the sea.

I am twelve years old. i walked downstairs and saw my father and brother just sitting and watching. now, i have watched many movies in my life. from harry potter to wes anderson, i love it all and would say my taste is impressive. i watched nothing from this movie but the song "a thousand pies." impressed me beyond a level of compare. i thought it was fantastic but did not realize that by the next morning me and my dad would have a fully choreographed dance routine to this song, we played it over and over again. please enlighten yourself. step into your horizons, watch this movie.

My son learns about sea creatures and loved the songs
tinmaefajilan15 April 2021
My 3 years old son loves it so much. He knows Peso and other characters and always tell me a story about it. He even learned and teach me things about the thick thorned starfish and other sea creatures. The songs makes the movie lively! And if you enjoy musical movie like Les Mesirables you will surely enjoy it even if you're a parent.

My sons and I won't stop watching this!
philahammond8 April 2021
Since my sons have found this, they just love it. It is definitely a heightened version of normal octonaugts. What I love about it is it is compact for a special and the kids can watch it from start to finish. The peril in it also is absolutely perfect for my sons who are both under 5. What caught us by surprise was the singing! This, in my wife's and I opinion was a very welcome feature. Absolutely loved it. More like this imo.

Kwazii coming in clutch
michaeleequinnbryson28 April 2021
I do not enjoy musicals, but I have been bumping to this soundtrack since the movie came out. My two and a half year old loves it, and could sing the entire movie in her sleep. If you're an Octonaut fan definitely give it a try.

I'm Gobsmacked

Going into this movie as an avid Octonauts enjoyer and super fan, I didn't expect much and even believed that this movie would tarnish the standard set by the original IP. After watching this movie, my outlook has done a complete 180. This movie is pure genius. With catchy musical numbers and loveable characters, this film satisfied all my needs and left me wanting more by the end. This work of art went above and beyond to create an enjoyable experience for all viewers, and I really can't ask for anything more. If you are seeing this review, please trust me and watch this movie. In all my 42 years of life, I have never been so emotionally moved by a film until I watched this. Prior to my perception of this articulate piece, I found myself lost in the grim and criminal underworld of illegal substances such as methamphetamine and black tar heroine, but this film sifted through the darkness and brought me to the light. Only the lord knows what ditch I would find myself in had I not stumbled upon this gem. 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone with an iron deficiency, a crippling addiction or a warped sense of self.

Different in a good way.
brittanydempsey18 June 2022
Octonauts plays 24/7 in our house my 3yr old won't let me change it. We walk around singing pirate pies chopp chopp chopp it's great fun. But I swear these are remake songs I think the big triumphant song at the end is a my chemical romance remake or something I'm not sure and may be crazy but it's all so cute. And the educational value is awesome she is learning all about animals and compassion teamwork etc.
