Two time Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda will be talking about her new book, all about her protests calling for Government action on the climate emergency. As well as a hugely successful acting career, Jane has been a lifelong political and social activist, supporting various movements throughout the decades.
Last autumn, Jane moved to Washington D.C for 4 months to launch the weekly Fire Drill Friday demonstrations, risking arrest by protesting for government action on the climate crisis. Week by week, the numbers of protesters who joined Jane kept growing and the movement attracted global media coverage. In total, Jane protested for 14 Fridays in a row.
Jane's new book follows her journey in putting together this movement, as well as the lessons she's learned from a lifetime of activism. The book also includes speeches by leading climate scientists and community organisers who delve into the huge variety of issues that are linked to the climate crisis - from water and migration, to military funding and human rights. In each chapter, Jane equips the reader with the tools they need to join her in protest, and help combat the climate emergency that faces us all.
Italian chef Gino D'Acampo is bringing back the iconic game show Family Fortunes. He's joining us to tell us how he's planning on making the show his own. This will be his first appearance on The One Show
HOSTING FAMILY FORTUNES
Gino has spent the last couple of weeks filming the new show. His final filming day was on Sunday (so we won't have a clip to show).
"I was a bit nervous at first, it's an iconic show. We don't have it in Italy but I remember watching the Les Dennis version when I first came to England. It was a good way for me to learn English, which wasn't very good at the time."
The idea was run past him by the bosses at ITV about six months ago. "It was strange, I had spent lockdown in Sardinia and I got a text from Kevin Lygo saying he wanted me to host Family Fortunes. I just thought he was mad, 'are you for real?'.
