Widower Peter lives with his daughter Betty, and son in law Brian, it's an unhappy setup, after a row he visits a bar, and gets friendly with Harry, the pair have a few things in common.
A good start, it's a typical nineties comedy, it's amusing enough, has a bit of heart, and does actually have a sense of realism. In many cases, older people are treated like the scourge of society, a burden, and you can imagine that scenario. I can't say I remembered it.
Betty promising her mum that she'd look after dad, with everyone e ding up resenting one another.
A few amusing moments, I liked the first encounter, I also liked the scene where Betty tells Brian exactly how she felt, not funny, but very realistic.
Cole and Pearson were very good, I thought Minnie Driver was delightful.
Good start, 8/10.
