Sex & Nudity

  • At one point, Marge and a female member of her book club kiss passionately, and Homer is seemingly pleased by this. It is then shown that this was a fantasy Homer was having.
  • At the end of their subplot, Homer and Marge share a passionate kiss.
  • Some crude humor is present. For example, some kids joke about how Principal Skinner is holding a "Number 2" pencil, or how it is implied that Ralph accidentally peed himself.

Violence & Gore

  • At the beginning, there's a prolonged montage of Homer getting hurt in a variety of comical and cartoonish ways, such as getting punched, struck by lightning, falling down the stairs, hung with a noose, getting run over by a car, shot with a nail gun, smashed with a chair, having his eyes pecked by crows, having his finger cut off (blood is shown), getting his face sucked by a vacuum (his eye is bloodshot) and more.
  • Homer almost gets hit by a truck and struck by lightning.
  • A pot falls on Homer's arm, resulting in a black and blue lump. However, he manages to dispel it with willpower.
  • Superintendent Chalmers tells children taking the test to imagine that each question is a baby chick, and that if they get the question wrong, the chick dies. The children react at this by screaming in shock. Chalmers later speaks in a similar tone to the children, once again causing them to scream in shock.
  • Throughout most of Homer's subplot, there is a sense of dread that someone might get hurt seriously.
  • A woman's hair catches fire, and then she trips on a skateboard. This effectively causes her pointy shoes to fly into another woman's eyes, stabbing her and causing her to fall. Then,an old woman gets cleaved in the back with a hatchet. We then see all the women are dead. This scene contains no blood whatsoever, and happens not to be a real event; rather, a scenario in Homer's mind.
  • Homer saves a group of women from Marge's book club from several accidents, such as a falling knife, a scarf caught up in a fan, and several pointy objects.
  • A knife flies into Mr. Burns' face, stabbing him in the forehead. He falls and is in great pain, but there is no blood, until the knife is removed. Then, lots of blood pours out from his face. Homer then tries to stop the bleeding by covering his wound. However, blood still flies from out of other areas of Burns' face. Then Homer sucks on the area of the blood stream, only causing blood to fly out of Homer's ear. Afterwards, Mr. Burns has his forehead bandaged. Even though the scene is played for laughs, it might be disturbing or gross to some.

Profanity

  • Only one use of a real curse word (which is screw you).
  • 6 uses of God, including phrases such "Oh my God".
  • Several insults and crude words or phrases are present as well.
  • 1 use of idiot and nitwit
  • 2 uses of shut up
  • 3 uses of "slurp my snot" (two verbal and one written) and stupid
  • 5 uses of loser
  • 6 uses of number 2 (as a euphemism for poop)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Homer and Marge pop a champagne bottle to celebrate the new year of school.
  • At one point, it is implied that Otto is high, as,in first person perspective, it appears to him as if the school bus is flying in the sky when it really is the ground. Throughout most of his appearances in the episode, it appears that he is high, even though this isn't directly stated.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The episode in general is tense, yet comical, especially with Homer's subplot.
  • The climax of Homer's subplot could be unsettling for some.
  • Overall, the episode's main concern is how violent it is, even though it is not the show's most violent episode. If you can get past some of the violent scenes, there's not much to worry about.
