If there’s one director whose films I will watch without hesitation or question, it’s Pearry Teo. In fact his filmic career is actually one that is key to mine. His second film, the 2009 fear flick Necromentia (which I still think out-Hellraiser’d Hellraiser itself), was one of the first films I ever reviewed professionally; and I’ve reviewed each and every one of his films since. Why? Because of the impact his twisted vision in Necromentia had on me and because no matter the story, no matter the budget, Teo always finds something interesting, admittedly often dark, to do with the subject matter.

Bedlam Stories is an intriguing concept. The oft-told tales of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz filtered through the twisted vision of film maker Pearry Teo whose work has always been marked by a dark, sinister edge. Here Teo teams with author Christine Converse for a tale that takes the works of Lewis Carroll and L. Frank Baum as a starting point and crafts a startling new tale of madness that is certainly not your parents fairy tale!
Of course re-adapting fairy tales and folklore is nothing new, ABC have had success with their series Once Upon a Time whilst NBC turned Grimm’s Fairy Tales into a fantastic horror-tinged police procedural show. But whilst both of the aforementioned are superb in their own right there is nothing (and I mean nothing) that can prepare you for Bedlam Stories.

Tagline: "Fear the Cure." Director Pearry Teo (Necromentia, Dead Inside) is set to produce his next horror film, with Chad Michael Ward helming the feature. Casting for the production has just begun. And, the new title is called Strange Blood. Teo will bring some of David Cronenberg's influence into the feature as Strange Blood promises to be a body horror feature, in the vein of Videodrome and The Fly. The film's story involves a strange scientist. He hopes to develop a miracle cure for all potential diseases. Instead, he finds himself infected with a devastating parasite. With little time left to live, the protagonist must find a way to rid himself of the leech inside, or the rest of the world will become infected too. A concept poster for Strange Blood is hosted above. The graphic offers a few interesting details. Compound B and TeoWard are two companies behind the production.

If you’ve been a long time reader of Blogomatic3000 (now, of course Nerdly) you’ll know how huge a fan I am of director Pearry Teo. He has helmed some fantastic straight to DVD movies – some of which put big-budget cinema flicks to shame – including the awesome Necromentia, Witchville and Dead Inside (aka The Evil Inside).
His latest film, The Dark Prince, is another take on the Dracula legend which stars Brit actor Luke Roberts as the titular character and Jon Voight as Van Helsing. The film, which was lensed in Romania, is currently at the Cannes Film Market and director Teo has revealed the films poster on his Facebook page (which if you’ve any interest in low-budget filmmaking you really should be following).

Was just saying to myself, ya know what we need? Another Dracula franchise. One that's meaty and filled with teeth, gore, supernatural beasts, and a good storyline that could carry the Og vampire for years to come. What we're getting is ... well .... oh, just read on.
According to THR, Crystal Sky will go into production this summer on Dracula: The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, to be shot on location in Romania. Pearry Reginald Teo (Necromentia) is directing with producer Steven Paul looking to cast a star in the lead.
“It’s the first installment in a franchise about a young, romantic Prince of Darkness, his Army of the Undead, and a series of events that shake Transylvania to its core,” said Paul, who calls the vampires “the bad boys” of their time. He said the intent is to create a Twilight-type franchise, which will spin off movie after movie in years to come.

Set in the 1920s, in Bedlam Asylum, the story revolves around Dorothy of Oz and Alice from Wonderland as they are brought into the asylum to treat their fantasy land delusions. But doctors soon realize that the patients’ imaginations may actually be real.

Yes, our lives revolve around Google. It's gone from Yahoo!'s chumpy little brother, to the biggest website in the world. It's so big that Google somehow went from a noun to a verb! The people behind this kind of success have got to have their heads on straight. Let's hope the eight Google engineers who joined forces to produce the upcoming horror film Dead Inside were some of the good Google workers, not the ones who just hang around by the candy machine and try to say something that sounds smart.
Written by Jennifer Zhang and directed by Pearry Teo, Dead Inside is a creepy film set at a party where bad things begin to happen after one character has a premonition of another's death. Zhang is also featured in the film along with stars Lala Hensley, Matthew Mercer, Rayne Bidder, James Adam Lim, Tara Strand and Sage Howard.

I’ve been a fan of director Pearry Teo ever since I first saw Necromentia a couple of years ago. The film, which completely blew me away, was a dark horror-fantasy that out did Hellraiser when it came to hellish imagery and now it looks like Teo is bringing the same outrageous imagery to the fairytale with Bedlam Stories, a twisted take on Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz.
Set in the 1920s, in Bedlam Asylum, the story revolves around Dorothy of Oz and Alice from Wonderland as they are brought into the asylum to treat their fantasy land delusions. But doctors soon realize that the patients’ imaginations may actually be real.
Teo has unveiled some concept art for the film on his Facebook page, including a concept one-sheet and character art for the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter… Check out the creepy images below:...

I was really torn watching Pearry Teo’s Necromentia. For the entire running time of the film, it never once lost me. I was fully engrossed in the film and its characters, and several times I stopped and told the person I was watching it with what an amazing visual style it had. If nothing else, Necromentia is one of the most striking and beautifully ugly films ever to bleed across the screen. The problem is, there are times it just doesn’t make any sense.
Necromentia’s story is something I’m surprised that Dimension didn’t try to buy up and convert into a Hellraiser sequel the way it gobbled up its scripts for its latter entries. Thing is, Necromentia is actually a much better film than any Pinhead adventure post-Hell On Earth.
Here, we follow four men who have decided to cross that line into hell.

Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville (pictured) has been cast in the title role in Captain Nemo, Shoreline Entertainment's 3D action movie set to start filming in China in August.
The steampunk adventure will see Nemo join forces with President Ulysses Grant to battle an evil genius who is causing naval disasters, reports HeatVision.
Pearry Teo (who helmed The Gene Generation, Necromentia and TV movie Witchville) will direct the feature, described as a sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
Universal has moved the release date of Snow White and the Huntsman (starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, with Charlize Theron as the evil queen) from December 2012 to June 1 that year.

Dead Inside which sees one of my favourite directors Pearry Teo re-team with with his Necromentia cohort Chad Michael Ward, was originally announced back in March and since then I’ve been keeping a close eye on the films official Facebook page waiting for further updates.
It looks like the wait is over as now comes (via Facebook) a new poster and freaky trailer for the film, written and produced by Jennifer Zhang, which is reportedly a mix of western and eastern horror, blending elements of American teen horror such as Scream and Final Destination with Asian fright films along the lines of The Ring and Ju-On.
Sarah, a mentally-disturbed teen, has a jarring premonition of her friends’ impending deaths one night at a sleepover. As her houseguests begin to turn murderously against each other, Sarah must determine whether her visions represent the preventable or the inevitable… or something entirely more sinister.

With horror films, there is almost always something that redeems even the worst of them. Pearry Reginald Teo’s recent direct-to-video potboiler Necromentia is far from the worst, but it’s deeply flawed, cribbing wholesale from both Saw and the Hellraiser films to mediocre returns. And yet even at its lowest, if you keep your ears open and your senses keen, you’ll notice that the defining element of the picture is the way it sounds. As the camera prowls down low-budget corridors and mazeways, a suffocating blanket of drones, melancholy washes and chattering noises threaten to turn Necromentia into something it wouldn’t otherwise be…scary.

Pearry Teo's vision would be more suited for designing haunted houses than it is for making motion pictures. The filmmaker's new flick "Necromentia" literally looks like a terrifying nightmare. That is both the good news and the bad news. On the one hand, Teo illustrates a Hell unlike any other we have ever seen. On the other hand, the story is enrobed by a slew of disorderly elements that make it difficult for the viewer to center themselves much less follow the plot. "Necromentia" tells the tales of three desperate men who will do anything for the ones they...

We reported on Deus Ex Machina way back in February of 2008 with no details and some great looking concept art (designs by Pearry himself with ink done by Venelin Dinkov. I'm really digging the Hr Giger inspiration) and now we present to you exclusive details on the film itself. In a dystopic place called Exsilium, citizens who accept Sciences as their religion join a virtual world of heaven and hell. Pearry is currently revising this script with his writing partner Layton Matthews and is in talks to make it into both a film and a graphic novel but unfortunately I can't reveal any further details on that. If you haven't noticed, we love Pearry here at Quiet Earth, and I'm going to say it again, one day this cat is going to make something on the level of Dark City or Brazil. Three men with seemingly different lives, all turn to the junction of occult rituals to obtain what they desire most: love. However, unbeknownst to them all, there are hefty prices to be paid when you call upon the forces of hell. The film is directed by Pearry Teo and writer Stephanie Joyce. Hellraiser and Saw collide in this diabolical thriller about three men whose lives become intertwined as they turn to dark magic and unthinkable tactics for the ones they love. Necromentia tells the story of Morbius, Travis and Hagan, desperate men who will do anything it takes for the ones they love, even if that means...

One of my favourite films of last year was the straight to DVD flick Necromentia. Directed by Pearry Teo (Gene Generation, Witchville), the film is a Hellraiser-esque tale that mixes freakish, nightmarish imagery, sadomasochism, gore, torture and dark twisted storytelling, to tell a story about how far you would go for love.
Now that Teo’s latest flick Witchville has finally aired on Syfy, the writer/director has announced that he’s begun work on a sequel to Necromentia. From his official Facebook page:
