intimate and compelling look at question of divorce in Christianity- raises great questions!

I think I might have seen a more recent cut of "I Do, I Don't" than the reviewer below because it's definitely structured so that you know it's solely Gil's journey, and what an interesting journey it is. I think this documentary is a really cool and very personal look at a world that I didn't know that much about but also something I assume many people can relate to. These kids are SO YOUNG when they choose to get married, and as a secular individual it's fascinating to watch this dynamic personality struggle with his faith when things fall apart (no spoilers on how the struggle ends up). I imagine people who know a little more about Christianity's attitude toward divorce might find the questions raised by this movie all the more compelling, but I think this is a refreshing and really thought provoking documentary, no matter your attitudes toward faith.

This documentary was very disappointing and not worth watching.

The concept of this documentary is really cool. A gungho young evangelical Christian couple who end up getting separated immediately. But the way these filmmakers presented the material ruins an otherwise good story. Everything was all over the place. It never made any points and afterwards I felt just as confused as before. It's not like its for you to form an opinion because they don't give you enough cohesive information. It's like oh they're in love, everything's normal, they get married, then boom she's gone, in the first 10 minutes. The rest of the film is just him talking about random stuff into the camera and sending her youtube videos and weird crap. They don't get but one interview with the girl after the separation and like 20 with the guy so you only know one side, plus they don't really ever talk about why they got divorced in the first place. Something about actually no I don't have any idea. Save yourself and do not watch this.

This documentary is not well put together. the director is trying to show how Christianity played a role in their divorce but it doesn't show through in any of the material. All the girl says is she didn't think they should have gotten married. My favorite part is how in the beginning she says you should never get a divorce but then the second it applies to her she leaves him saying they shouldn't have gotten married in the first place so it doesn't count. This doc presents one side of the story, which means it's as biased as it can be. Documentary's are supposed to present both sides, but there is nothing from the girl after the divorce. It is not meant to be just the guys story or they wouldn't have had so much material from her before the separation. My guess is she wouldn't do any more interviews. I feel that this documentary presents half a story and the point the director is going for is unrecognizable.
