Mise Eire was the first theatrically released feature film to be recorded in the Irish language.
Director 'George Morrison' wanted to record an English language version of the film's voice-over to help sell it overseas. Famous Irish actor 'Peter O'Toole' had volunteered his services for the task but it never happened.
Due to the sensitive topic of the film, the film was banned in Belfast when initially released.
