Theater of the Absurd / Theater of Cruelty

Artaud and Beckett would both feel at home watching this experimental nightmare comedy that actually ISN'T experimental if one just contemplates for one minute the actual Pacific Trash Vortex the size of Texas out there, an ecological disaster that is sorrowfully all too real. As in his film American Barbarian Paul Carr looks at what's out there and cranks it up to "11".

GREAT ACTORS IN A TRIPPY SCENARIO WITH OUR OBSESSION WITH PLASTIC
terrellkasong25 August 2020
This film grabbed my attention immediately. It is trippy with incredible visuals. Brilliant dialogue delivered expertly by the cast: Don Schroeder and Nick Leininger. I hung on excitedly to see how it all would end. The props chosen by the director and creator Paul Carr were clever and well chosen. This is almost a prediction of a certain future for all of us worldwide!

Brilliantly Acted Mind-Bending Film!

My head is still spinning after seeing this incredible film. I was riveted by the incredible cast, Don Schroeder and Nick Leininger, the trippy visuals, and social commentary. "Empire" is absurd, funny, apocalyptic, arty, and full of surprises. Like nothing I have ever seen before!

Dystopian nightmare comes to life!
dms-1475717 November 2020
Paul Carr's EMPIRE is a cautionary tale and a sight to behold! A diabolically surreal script superbly communicated by Chicago actors Nick Leininger and Don Schroeder. Also playing a stellar supporting role is the world famous Pacific Trash Vortex. No edibles are needed to enhance the visuals on Carr's abstract expressionist film canvas! Pop a big bag of popcorn and hold on to your seat!
