One of the movie posters on Wilson's wall has been changed to one for the movie "Ordinary People (1980)" which is about how a family deals with the aftermath of the death of one son and the other son's attempted suicide.
The US broadcast of the episode ends with a message from www.nami.org (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), and a phone number (1-800-273-TALK) to call if someone is in crisis and thinking about suicide.
"Did you deduce that by removing your glasses to the strains of a 'Who' song?" references the title sequence of the then-ongoing show CSI: Miami (2002), wherein David Caruso took off his glasses, "looking cool", to the title song, The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" (all the CSI shows used Who songs for their title sequences).
Meat Loaf's character's name is Eddie, which is the same name as his character in the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).
