Another excellent episode.

Episode five, "The Buffalo Gun", is another excellent episode. A masterful showcase of storytelling and cinematography. It's coming together beautifully, and Hugo Blick's storytelling is undeniably fresh and original. Emilia Blunt's acting is top-notch, and she really brings her character to life with her subtle yet powerful performance. Chaske Spencer, as well as the rest of the cast, continue to give solid performances. The show's disjointedness has been my only complaint about it, which holds true for this episode as well. Really wanted to see Rafe Spall again after his fantastic performance last episode, but sadly, he didn't appear in this episode. With only one episode left, I'm intrigued to see how the story concludes.

Perhaps the best episode so far.

Cornelia sets up a meeting with Black Eyed Mog, Eli has a clear mission, to atone for the past, and to right a wrong, something he turned a blind eye to.

I think this may just have been my favourite episode so far, I love that we get to learn so much more about Eli and Cornelia, and as for the acting of both Blunt and Spencer, they were tremendous.

I can't lie, I have really struggled at times to understand bits of the plot, but it really is starting to fall into place, all of the random threads that were thrust into us in episode three are now starting to make sense.

How wonderful was Nicola McAuliffe as Black Eyed Mog, she was terrific I thought, very sinister, very quirky, with a real story, such a shame that she didn't get more screen time, reminded me of Blind Mag, A character Sarah Brightman played in Repo, The Genetic Opera. Credit to McAuliffe's Welsh accent.

It's like a Western remixed with modern storytelling, and it just works, the focus seems to be more on the history of the people rather than Eli or Cornelia's specifics, it's very well done.

I wonder what the final episode will have in store, what's really going on with Billy Myers, and are Cornelia and Eli going to end up together.

8/10.

Best episode thus far

Much if this show so far has been disjointed and muffled with thick accents that are hard to understand (added with foreign language with zero subtitles).

However the show still shines. The acting is phenomenal. The cinematography is superb

All that aside, this episode was powerful. Everything that is good about this show shined through. And the things that detract from it were almost completely absent. The typical disjointed plot was straight forward this episode. And it culminated in an episode that stirred emotion within the viewer.

As I approach the end of the show, much if the muddled plot parts in the beginning is starting to take focus. Unlike many shows that start so slow...this show starts at full pace assuming you know the story. I hich is why I think it is both magical and clumsy film making...all at the same moment. Few shows have led me to be so turned inside about how good it is and frustrated at parts that make it be perfect.

And as one that rarely likes British shows (or at least until they are rewritten in America), this one stands out. I'm not saying either country is less or more in film, just different countries have cultural norms to account for. And this BBC production did a really good job at understanding American history and our telling of it. Great job!!

The Sharps Scene

Warning: Spoilers
Absolute 10 for the Sharps scene. Reminded me a bit of Quigley. But Eli showing himself as a Pawnee Warrior and defending what he loves was absolutely magnificent. It wasn't over done but less is more when it comes to some things.

I think what makes it so magnificent was the education received by Spencer and approval of Spencer's portrayal from the Pawnee Nation adds a level of greatness you don't normally see in similar works.

This is my favorite episode of the show in its plot, writing, and acting. Eli's normally restrained manner is lifted and he saves and is saved by family he watched be torn apart.

Wy-oh-Wyoming?

So things are moving on and predictably the main characters get close to one another.

No Rafe Spall in this one so a bit of a lull again after a good part 4.

If Britain made a western then it would probably be something like this and this is how it has turned out.

We see more of the main stars this time after them taking a mid-season break last time out.

Yes, the s energy is fantastic. Anyone that has been to Spain on holiday knows the beauty of the afternoon sun which is well reflected here. Its just the story that seems to be leaving us in the dark.

Hopefully, the extended season ender will be worth the watch.
