Sex & Nudity

  • Alcina Dimitrescu and her daughters act and move in a very seductive manner. Both also show a fair amount of cleavage.
  • It is mentioned that a character wanted to "screw around" with Ethan in private.

Violence & Gore

  • Lady dimitrescu cuts Ethan's hand. More intense than disturbing
  • A Lycan bites two of Ethan's fingers off.
  • Everytime when a player gets bitten by a zombie blood splashes a lot.
  • It's not that violent. Teens can handle it. There's some blood but there isn't gore. Not nearly violent as others in the series.
  • Nowhere near as violent as Resident Evil 7 or the Resident Evil 4 remake. The violence, while naturally gory due to its horror roots, is not overwhelming.
  • The enemies known as Lycans are basically the games version of zombies. Shooting them in the head will result in a gory dismemberment, along with their other limbs. This goes for most of the other enemies as well.
  • Various scarecrows are placed around the village. Closer inspection shows that they are just deceased bodies propped up on a pole like a scarecrow; they are used for the same purpose as a scarecrow would.
  • Lots of blood during combat along with some gore but they are fantastical enemies being killed. There are moments of the mutilation of the protagonist having his heart ripped out, hand bit in half and his other hand being cut off. All of this is gory but nowhere near as much as RE7.

Profanity

  • Around 14 uses of fuck, some uses of bitch, shit, one use of dick, 2 uses of asshole, 1 use of prick, 3 uses of bastard, and Some uses of hell.
  • Moderate vulgar language
  • Several profanities in the Japanese dialect.
  • The language is tame compared to Resident Evil 7. Language is heard infrequently and isn't perverse.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Ethan and Mia are seen drinking wine and wine bottles are seen in the castle also and in the beginning drinking is seen.
  • Chris is seen smoking in a cutscene
  • Lady Dimitrescu is seen smoking in two cutscenes
  • A cigar can be found

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The violence is very fantasy like, so it isn't as realistic or graphic as other horror games like The Last of Us Part 2 and Outlast. Nonetheless it is still violent and bloody
  • While the game is intense most if the scenes are portrayed in settings of combat where the player can defend themselves.
  • The last hour of the game is intense, violent and gory but also very emotional.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Mia is shot several times in the opening scenes and then brutally executed by Chris Redfield shortly after. It is learned later that "Mia" isn't actually Mia, but Mother Miranda.
  • Mother Miranda rips Ethan's heart out of his chest. This is way more violent than the original Resident Evil games such as Resident Evil Remake for GameCube and the first one for PS1 and Resident Evil 0. Hence, this can be shocking to some.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Giant Baby encounter is genuinely disturbing by the most part the scariest scenes in the game.
  • It is discovered that you are holding your own infant daughters head. This can be quite distressing though she is still technically alive.
  • It is later revealed to Ethan that he has to collect the remaining 3 pieces of his daughter this may be shocking and gruesome for many players.
  • Ethan begins fading away after defeating Mother Miranda. He gives Rose to Chris and tearfully says goodbye as he sets off a detonator. Very emotional as his long journey led to his demise. After he sets off a bomb the game ends however his body is never seen.
  • At the beginning of the game. Chris Redfield without any explanation shoots Mia Winters dead in front of Ethan. This may make players think that Chris is a villain. Later in the game this is revealed to be far from what's going on.
