- The challenge is to create a look for Diane Von Furstenberg's fall collection, inspired by the movie "A Foreign Affair." The stakes are high to design a garment that will not only be part of the DVF fall collection but produced and sold exclusively for American Express card members. These looks must not only work into "A Foreign Affair" theme, but also express the characteristics of Dietrich - mercurial, androgynous, and seductress. The deadline is midnight to scramble for a concept, that is both movie-related and inspirational, and execute it.
- A new day dawns for the "Project Runway" folks. Stella makes a strong pot of coffee and comments that she "almost **** her pants" after finishing in the bottom three. Suede, meanwhile, has three new roommates now that his buddy Keith is gone.
Time to go meet Ms. Heidi.
"Hallo!" Heidi squeaks before bringing out Tim. "For this challenge, you will be designing for a fashion legend," he says. "And I'm taking you to meet this legend ... NOW!"
Who will it be? Bad boy Blayne has a suggestion. "My first thought about the fashion legend is Mary-Kate Olsen. I want every challenge to be involved with Mary-Kate. I want to marry Kate. Who doesn't -- besides Tim Gunn?"
Tim leads the team inside a show room and introduces the neophytes to ... Diane von Furstenberg! Sorry, Mary Kate: You've been trumped! Kenley is brought to tears. Jerell calls it a "dream come true."
Diane presents the challenge: "Create a look for my fall collection inspired by the movie 'Foreign Affair.'" Better yet, the designers will pick from Diane's own collection of fabrics! Better better yet, the winning look will be produced and sold exclusively to American Express card members!
The contestants are in heaven as they pick out fabrics. Kenley is still crying. "I really want to win this one bad," she says through tears. Ya think? More gushing. More gushing. Time is up. Back to the sweat shop, er, Parsons.
Leanne expresses great relief to have immunity but still wants to win. Joe goes through Diane's "Look Book" and notices layers -- plenty of layers.
Kenley is making a dress. Jerell is making a jacket, dress and skirt -- ambitious, to be sure. Suede is focusing his look on "Berlin and camouflage, masculine-inspired fabrics." Says Suede: "Suede is just focused on what Suede is here to do."
Blayne wants more of a "spy, undercover" look. Terri likes the challenge because androgynous wear is her "entire look." Joe and Blayne, meanwhile, make fun of Terri's design and fabric choice.
"The perception with Terri is that she just keeps pulling out the same look," Joe says.
Korto hopes her flowing evening dress "blows" Diane away. Stella explains that she is designing a "cape, vest and pair of pants." Joe's outfit is a backless "Oriental-inspired top." Leanne, who would love to be a spy, makes a "cropped trench coat with a long silk gown."
Says Suede: "Suede would love to be a spy but I'm fearful my blue hair would give me away."
Tim arrives. He doesn't get the visual look of Suede's Berlin-inspired dress, but dubs Leanne's ensemble "phenomenally beautiful." Joe's dress with a hooded shawl is impressive but "ambitious." He questions Korto's use of bright yellow fabric, listens to Stella bash last week's judges and admires Kenley's "simple silhouette."
Kenley starts crying again. "I feel like I'm getting really emotional," she says. Ya think?
The next morning, our intrepid designers return to Parsons and the models soon arrive. Says Tim: "I believe that you have the ability to blow Diane von Furstenberg's stilettos right off of those staggering legs of hers." Now THAT we'd pay to see.
Crunch time. The contestants go into a frenzy of cutting, fitting, draping and talking smack about each.
"I'm kind of surprised that Joe is here at this stage of the game," Leanne tells the camera.
Runway time. "Hallo!" squeaks Heidi before introducing the judges. Michael Kors is back. Fern Mallis is filling in. Diane von Ferstenberg you've already met. Before you can say "montage," the models start strutting the designers stuff. Shockingly, the contestants simply LOVE their own creations! But will the judges -- Diane especially? Will we see her stilettos blow right off her fabulous gams?
The fashion show ends and the following designers are asked to step forward: Terri, Jerell and Blayne. "Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge," Heidi says. As usual, the remaining contestants have the highest and lowest scores.
Diane loves the bright yellow on Korto's dress. Fern calls it "international and New York." Michael thinks the jacket is just plain great.
Joe's open-back look looks "messy," according to Heidi. Michael calls it odd.
Heidi calls Kenley's dress "pretty" but misses the layering. Diane calls it "simple and pretty." Fern dubs it "simple and chic." Simply put, it goes over well.
Diane compares Stella's cape to Dracula's own. Ouch. Kors calls the crotch a "nightmare" fit for a woman. Double ouch.
Leanne's ensemble impresses Diane. It is deemed "new and different" by Heidi. Michael admires the level of design.
Diane bashes Suede's skirt for having "too much fabric." Heidi wonders why he included a slit in the back. Michael says that people seeing the outfit might wonder if the model got dressed in the dark. Yikes.
Decision time. "One of you will be named the winner and one of you ... will be out," Heidi says from memorization.
The winner -- for the second week in a row -- is Leanne!
"To win two in a row? That is awesome!" she exclaims.
Korto and Kenley are safe. Suede is safe.
Only Joe and Stella remain.
"Joe, your look had us confused," Heidi says. "Stella, you gave us three pieces and did none of them well."
Stella is out. Joe is in.
"I went with Stella 100 percent," says Stella, borrowing from Suede's third-person play book. "I'm a rock star, that's who I sell for. If you like my stuff, come buy it. If you don't, keep walking. I don't care."
