In the wake of last week‘s Daniel-centric Fear the Walking Dead, Sunday’s installment accelerated almost all of the series’ plots, revealing whether Madison could really handle maniacal mama’s boy Troy as well as she insisted she could, bringing Nick and Luciana, as well as Jake and Alicia, to turning points in their relationships, dropping Strand into a predicament that was arguably as dire as his near-execution by Dante, and introducing a whole new threat. Was it the high-profile heavy we’d been anticipating? Read on and find out…

The game has changed on Big Brother 18. Following Victor's return from the Battle Back, there are no more teams and no more Road Kill competitions. It's back to basics with two nominees going into the Power of Veto. So far we've had four different winners, so did someone else get a chance to win it?

Frank has been crushing the new Road Kill competition on Big Brother 18. He's the only person still in the house to win it and even though he's safe this week because his team member Paulie won HoH, that doesn't mean Frank will phone it in. So did he win his third Road Kill or will someone else have the opportunity to secretly nominate a third Hg?

They started off Big Brother 18 the undisputed underdogs. The veterans seemed like such easy and natural early eliminations. The stack appeared to be so stacked against them that it seems Big Brother 18 introduced new twists and rule changes (teams, Road Kill, etc.) specifically to help out the returning players. Yet in just a few short weeks, the veterans have taken over the game in Big Brother 18 in more ways than one. Are the returning houseguests and their dominance of the game making the season less fun to watch? ...

Regardless of what some may say about Big Brother (i.e. cheesy, tacky, garbage), there’s a real nifty bit of game design that often makes the show entertaining. Each week, one of the players wins a competition called Head of Household (Hoh) and that person is responsible for nominating two houseguests for eviction. This allows for power shifts and changing alliances in the house. Someone can be in a minority alliance or unaffiliated one week and the next week, they find themselves in control. Dominant alliances are on much more unsteady ground than they are in Survivor, as their power can be usurped. This year, two twists make it extra hard for someone on the wrong side of the numbers. In Big Brother 18, the contestants must play in teams, which incentivizes some to throw competitions so that their less powerful teammates can’t achieve Hoh. There’s also another twist called Bb Road Kill,...

The game is getting back to normal after a premiere that featured four competitions and an eviction followed by the new Road Kill. The Wednesday episodes of Big Brother 18 are still all about the Power of Veto competition and whether one of the three nominees can save himself (because, for the first time ever, there are three men currently sitting on the nomination couch).

The latest Big Brother twist has made its appearance. Big Brother 18 has officially gotten rid of the Battle of the Block and has, instead, created a whole new challenge and reward. The goofily-named Big Brother Road Kill is the newest competition to be featured in Big Brother's Sunday episode and it is an actual game-changer.
The winner of Big Brother Road Kill is able to nominate a third person for eviction and can do so anonymously, creating a rogue mini-Head of Household each week. It's a great replacement for the useless Battle of the Block but in an effort to make things harder and more challenging, Big Brother might have swung too far in the opposite direction. Even in a game as twisty as Big Brother, Road Kill might be too powerful a twist. ...

If you've been watching the live feeds or reading our spoiler articles about the live feeds, you already know what the new competition and twist of Big Brother 18 entails. The rest of the Big Brother audience finds out in this episode and it is ... something. The real competition has nothing to do with the new Big Brother Road Kill, for that is the new challenge's name. The biggest showdown is if Jozea can steal Paul's crown of who can be the worst, or rather best, garbage person in the Big Brother house. Spoiler alert: he totally succeeds.

Distributors in the Us, UK and Germany have bought Drown, an Australian drama which its director Dean Francis describes as confronting and controversial. Adapted from Stephen Davis. play which prompted walk outs when it was staged by the Queensland Theatre Company, the film centres on three surf lifesavers whose big night out is marred by jealousy, homophobic fears, unrequited lust and violence.
The night culminates in a tragic, booze-fuelled episode of bullying. There is a graphic gay sex scene, says Francis, who does not want to speculate on the likely film classification.
The international sales agent, London-based High Point Films & TV, showed a work-in-progress to potential buyers at the Cannes Film Market.
German distributor Salzgeber quickly signed a deal and is planning a national cinema release. Subsequently Strand Releasing bought the rights for the Us, where it will have a niche theatrical release, and Peccadillo Pictures, which specialises in art house,...

Australian actress Georgina Haig has scored the key role of Queen Elsa of Arendelle, the icy powered character from Disney's "Frozen," in the upcoming fourth season of ABC's "Once Upon a Time". The character was previously teased in the third season finale.
In the series, Elsa has long struggled to control her 'chilling' powers and once unleashed an eternal winter upon her town. Ultimately she realized her bond with younger sister Anna (Elizabeth Lail) helps keeps her powers in check.
Haig has had an interesting career so far starring in Australian films like the horror truck tale "Road Kill" with Twilight's Xavier Samuel and The 100's Bobby Morley, the nihilistic school teen drama "Wasted on the Young" with Chronicle's Alex Russell, the feel good musical "The Sapphires" with Chris O'Dowd, and the upcoming drug smuggling drama "The Mule".

Lately, I’ve been falling further and further behind on reviews. This is mostly due to the sheer volume of discs that make their way to my doorstep. Couple that with having a hellspawn of a toddler, and getting behind is quite easy. I will still be doing full reviews of discs, but I thought I’d start a weekly column, summing up that week’s Blu-ray releases(At least what I am sent for review). Very rarely do I ask for a DVD, unless it’s something imperative that won’t be making it to Blu, so every now and then a DVD will make its way onto the list, but for the most part, we’ll be tackling the Blu-ray releases, because that’s superior format. This week has quite a few solid releases, worthy of your dollars. I will include links to each disc, so that if...

The Grand Budapest Hotel I just received my copy of The Grand Budapest Hotel yesterday so I haven't had a chance just yet to explore it, though it does look a little light on features. I wonder, will Criterion get their hands on this one too in a couple yearsc Nevertheless, it's still one of the best movies of the year so far.
The Lego Movie Another solid movie, though not one I'm going to add to my collection. Once was enough for The Lego Movie for me, at least right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Bros. does a big awards push at the end of the year for this one, maybe I'll watch it again then.

The world of car racing is already dangerous enough, with the ever present fear of getting into an accident while competing on the track. When something as seemingly trivial as a Rusty Nail is thrown into the car racing equation, people don’t often ponder the effects it can have on the competition’s outcome. But initial looks can be deceiving, which is clearly evident with the return of villain Rusty Nail in 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s upcoming thriller, ‘Joy Ride 3: Road Kill.’ Written and directed by horror filmmaker, Declan O’Brien, ‘Joy Ride 3: Road Kill,’ the second sequel in the hit ‘Joy Ride’ franchise, brought back the mysterious villain [ Read More ]

1971’s Duel revved the engines of cinematic road-ragers everywhere and put many a vicious vehicle on the old highway to hell. What horror fan doesn’t love The Car, Christine, and Death Proof?
Those are classics. But what sets the Joy Ride film franchise apart from the rest is that it’s more about the diabolical driver and less about the terrifying truck. Which is not to say the big rig isn’t badass in its own right, but let’s face it: The 18-wheeler isn’t nearly as fun to chat with as actor and stuntman Ken Kirzinger.
Dread Central: Were you familiar with the Rusty Nail character before stepping into the role?
Ken Kirzinger: I auditioned for Rusty in Joy Ride 2 but didn’t get the part. Instead it went to a good friend, Mark Gibbon, who I ended up stunt doubling for in the movie. So yes,...
