It’s been over fourteen years since Conan O’Brien last appeared on The Tonight Show–and back then, it was as the show’s host.
We all know how that went down, but his first visit to the franchise since then promises to be a much more light-hearted affair.
O’Brien is set to sit down with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday April 9th to discuss his new Max series, Conan O’Brien Must Go.
He has technically appeared on the show one other time since stepping down as host–in 2018, as part of a brief recorded sketch that also featured Stephen Colbert and aired on both Colbert’s and Fallon’s shows, but this will mark O’Brien’s first physical visit to the show.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” is bringing back a familiar writer to the team. A.D. Miles, a longtime collaborator of Fallon’s who was previously head writer on the NBC late-night talk show, is returning to the show, Variety has confirmed.
Mason Steinberg, who was hired in the role last year, is exiting.
Miles stepped down from the head writer position back in 2017 to pursue acting and narrative television and film writing. By then, he had worked with Fallon for the past eight years, with the two meeting at NBC‘s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” which aired between 2009 to 2014, before Fallon took over “The Tonight Show.” They have collaborated on over 1,500 episodes of late-night television.
Miles appeared in multiple segments on “The Tonight Show,” most notably as stepdad Gary in Fallon’s series of “Ew!” sketches, which have featured such celebrities as Emma Stone, Taylor Swift and Drew Barrymore.

Elvis Presley loved karate, but according to Priscilla Presley, he wasn’t all that good at it. Still, he could rarely pass up a fight, even when he had no stake in it. On one occasion, Elvis, Priscilla, and his entourage were driving when they saw two strangers arguing. Elvis pulled over to break up the fight, and afterward, Priscilla said everyone played along with the fantasy he created about it.

On a drive, Elvis noticed two service station attendants fighting. He ordered the limousine driver to pull over, telling him, “Someone’s in trouble.”
“He jumped out of the car, Jerry [Schilling] and Sonny [West] following him,” Priscilla wrote in her book Elvis and Me. “Going up to one of the men, he said, ‘Hey, if you want to give somebody trouble, give it to me.'”

It's been over two decades since comedian Jimmy Fallon made an all-but-forgotten cameo in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers," and in that time, Fallon has gone from being a "Saturday Night Live" cast member to the host of two late-night talk shows. He started out doing the "Weekend Update" segment on "SNL" before hosting "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and eventually taking over "The Tonight Show" itself. Since Fallon has spent most of his working life in New York City, he's not great with wheels.
But Fallon needed wheels for his "Band of Brothers" cameo since his character — based on real-life army lieutenant George C. Rice — was expected to drive a jeep. Rice appears in episode 5, "Crossroads," which was directed by none other than Tom Hanks, co-creator of "Band of Brothers" with Steven Spielberg as a scaled-up version of their previous World War II collaboration, "Saving Private Ryan."

"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" is one of the funniest movies of 2022, and I will die on this hill. The fake totally accurate biopic stars Daniel Radcliffe of "Harry Potter" fame as the accordion-playing songster who brought us such classics as "Like a Surgeon," "Amish Paradise," and "Eat It," which are parodies of "Like a Virgin," "Gangster's Paradise," and "Beat It," in case you somehow didn't know.
The film tells the not-so very real tale of Al's life, from his father's disapproval of his wild accordion-playing days to his rock star bingeing to his toxic romantic relationship with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood in the best casting choice of the year). Of course, none all of this is true, and it makes for a fun story.
One of the best scenes in the film is a pool party where a young Al meets pretty much every niche superstar who was famous in the 1970s and 1980s,...

Chicago – One the brightest comedies set in Chicago is “South Side,” created by Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle. The pair moved the show from Comedy Central to HBO Max, and Season Two dropped for streaming on November 11th, 2021, with the same free-wheeling and hilarious misadventures of Simon and Kareme.
The duo (portrayed by Bashir’s brother Sultan Salahuddin and Kareme Young) are stuck in a dead end job with a rental company in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, and are constantly coming up with entrepreneurial “opportunities” to get their piece of the American dream. Both creators of the show also have roles, most prominently Bashir as Cpd Officer Goodnight.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is undergoing some executive changes.
Jamie Granet-Bederman has been promoted to showrunner of the NBC late-night show after Gavin Purcell stepped down to return to his development deal with Universal Television.
Nedaa Sweiss, who was previously head writer for The Tonight Show, has also been named co-showrunner for the next few months.
This comes after Purcell has overseen the show for a year, after taking over from Jim Bell in November 2019. He was instrumental in overseeing The Tonight Show’s At Home episodes as well as helping it become the first show to return to the studio in July.
Purcell, who was previously showrunner and executive producer for Hulu’s sketch and talk show I Love You America with Sarah Silverman, signed an exclusive overall deal with the NBCU studio in March 2019 – six months before taking over the Fallon show.

Jamie Granet-Bederman, a longtime producer of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” who has worked with the host for more than a decade, will take over showrunner duties for the venerable NBC late-night program, the latest change to the series’ top echelon of executives.
Gavin Purcell, who has been leading the program on an interim basis since late last year, will return to working on a development deal that he has at Universal Television.
In picking Granet-Bederman, Fallon and “Tonight” are choosing to stay with a show insider, after meeting with challenges when outside producers have come in to lead efforts. NBC in November parted ways with Jim Bell, an NBC News and NBC Sports veteran, who was named to lead the program as it met with ratings challenges against CBS’ “Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Another “Tonight” executive producer, Josh Lieb, a former Comedy Central producer, left “Tonight” in...

After more than three decades and dozens of other characters under his belt, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is revisiting the one that first made him a household name: Zack Morris on “Saved by the Bell.”
The veteran actor is not only going to guest star in the Peacock continuation series of the classic NBC Saturday morning live-action kids’ show, but he also teamed up with Dashiell Driscoll, the mind behind the viral sensation “Zack Morris is Trash” (and a writer on the upcoming Peacock series) for the “Zack to the Future” podcast. Each episode of the podcast features the duo discussing a singular episode of the original series, sometimes with a special guest.
It’s not the first time since the show wrapped production in 1994 that Gosselaar stepped back into Zack’s oversized shirts and blond locks (that would be 2009’s guest appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”), but the podcast...

“Late Night with Seth Meyers” is sitting in the fifth and last spot in our Emmy odds for Best Variety Talk Series, but it might as well be first place since the show has never gotten in before. Will this finally be its series breakthrough?
“Late Night” trails four-time reigning champ “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” and past nominees “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”
Because of the new rules, there will be one fewer spot in the category this year. Best Variety Talk Series was established in 2015 when Best Variety Series was split into talk and sketch. “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” prevailed in 2015, and it’s been “Last Week Tonight’s” turf since.

Some of the best jokes are the ones so undeniable, so elemental, that anyone who hears or sees them gets them immediately. Others feel like secrets that, if you happen to have whatever decoder ring that unlocks the punchline, make them that much more satisfying.
“Sherman’s Showcase” has plenty of both. The IFC series, which premiered last summer, imagines a fictional variety show with a rich, wild, and self-contained six-decade history. Co-creators Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle play longtime host Sherman McDaniels and longtime producer/announcer Dutch Shepherd, the two men at the center of this show-within-a-show that blends performance and parody in a blissful way.
Because “Sherman’s Showcase” is riffing on the real-life shows from throughout TV history and riding on a neverending wave of pop culture setups, each episode is part of one of the most densely packed comedies around. Again, some of those jokes are undeniable. And...

Bashir Salahuddin is truly a creative genius. As a well-rounded triple threat, he has found success as an actor, comedian, and writer. With almost 20 years of experience in the industry, Bashir has built up an impressive portfolio that includes a wide variety of projects. Some of the highlights of his career include writing for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Last O.G. Most notably, however, he has co-created two series of his own: South Side and Sherman’s Showcase. His ability to think outside of the box definitely hasn’t gone unnoticed. The seeds of what would eventually become “Sherman’s Showcase” had been sitting inside the minds of Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle for well over 10 years. For them, the idea of satirizing a variety show was a no-brainer. “We do all these different things because the rubric of a variety show allows it. The reason we picked the variety show is because for years we’ve been obsessed with them,” says Salahuddin in our recent webchat (watch the video above). Riddle, who co-created the project elaborated that part of the idea also came about after they had performed silly songs on Jimmy Fallon’s show. “We were like, ‘Let’s see if we can do a show where we can do this all the time.’ And IFC was like, ‘We don’t know about all the time, but how about eight episodes?’

South Side is set in and around the working-class neighborhood of Englewood in Chicago. Co-creators, exec producers and stars Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle, both Late Night with Jimmy Fallon alumni, wanted to make a show that represented one of their hometowns.
The plot follows two friends who just graduated community college and, while they wait to take over the world, they’re stuck at Rent-t-Own, a retail-rental crossroads. Despite the obstacles of inner-city life, these friends and their co-workers strive to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.
Salahuddin is from the South Side of Chicago and said he wanted to promote how funny people in this area are. “At the time, there was a lot of stuff in the news about Chicago being a difficult place that has all of these challenges. The cast and crew of MacGruber celebrated the film’s tenth anniversary last week, and although the feature project, based Will Forte’s MacGyver-esque Saturday Night Live sketch, flopped on release in 2010, it’s since become a comedy cult classic.
Forte tweeted an acknowledgement of the movie’s original fate last week, writing “On this day exactly 10 years ago, MacGruber started shitting the bed in the nation’s box offices. By the end of our 3 week theatrical run, not an inch of that bedset was salvageable. Even the mattress protector was soaked through.”
The film doesn’t just have an enthusiastic fan base of plebs like you and I, mind, Inception and Tenet director Christopher Nolan has been outed as a huge supporter of the film, which was first partially noted all the way back in 2012 by Anne Hathaway when she was promoting The Dark Knight Rises on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Two of AMC Networks’ most offbeat hits are musical comedy Sherman’s Showcase and short-form series State of the Union.
The group is now looking at the future of both shows. State of the Union aired on SundanceTV and Sherman’s Showcase airs on IFC.
The good news for the latter is that the company is set to give it a bigger slot on AMC when it comes back for an hour-long Black History Month Spectacular special this summer. The special was announced at AMC Network’s presentation at the TCA winter press tour but Deadline understands that it will air on both AMC and IFC.
Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios told Deadline that it will consider a second season of the show, which was created by and starrs former Late Night with Jimmy Fallon writers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, after the special airs.

“Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho sat down for his first U.S. late-night appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” Monday night.
The director, who received best director and best original screenplay Globen Globe nominations with co-writer Han Jin Won, plus a best foreign language nod Monday morning, did not give much away about the film’s plot when pressed by Fallon, in typical Bong fashion.
“I’d like to say as little as possible here because the film is best when you go into it cold,” he said, via his translator, who accompanied him for the interview.
“This is a talk show, so you have to say something,” Fallon jokingly — or not — responded.
Bong relented and gave a very rough outline of the “Parasite’s” premise.
“It’s a story about family, the son goes into a rich house as a tutor and the story unfolds from there,” he explained.

Fox has put in development G-Men, a multi-camera family comedy from writer Luke Cunningham (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon), Austen Earl (Happy Together) and 20th Century Fox TV.
Written by Cunningham, G-Men follows two estranged brothers — who both claim to be government agents, even though one is a hardcore FBI agent and the other’s a part-time mailman — struggle to put their vast differences aside when they reunite to help their larger-than-life mother move on after the death of their father. They hate this new arrangement at first, but ultimately they realize that sometimes it’s the people you agree with the least who inspire you to be your best.
Cunningham and Earl executive produce. The project is a co-production between 20th Century Fox TV and Fox Entertainment.
Cunningham was a writer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and moved to The Tonight Show with Fallon as a writer for the first three seasons.

Here’s the official logline for the potential series: Two estranged brothers struggle to put their vast differences aside when they reunite to help their larger-than-life mother move on after the death of their father. WarnerMedia has given a four-episode pilot order to a daily sitcom called “Today’s Special” from “Wet Hot American Summer” creator David Wain and “Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” writer A.D. Miles.
The scripted, single-camera comedy is described as blending the storytelling mechanics of a daily soap opera with the tone and style of a single-camera sitcom and the topical responsiveness of late-night TV. It would take place in a 24-hour diner that serves as a hub for a diverse group of staff and regulars, whose lives intertwine in ongoing storylines while also reacting to trending topics and the day’s headlines.
No word yet on which WarnerMedia property the project is being developed for.
