Demoted undeniably walks down a familiar lane. Tragically, any work-based comedy will be compared against the gold standard, Office Space. It’s hard to do better and Demoted surely doesn’t. But that said, it’s not a miss either.
Mike (Sean Astin) and Rodney (Michael Vartan) are hot-shot tire salesmen with frat-boy minds. While they share a party-loving kinship with their boss, everyone else in the office is fixed squarely as the butt of their jokes, none worse than Ken Castro (David Cross). But when a night of rampant debauchery leaves the boss on the slab, Castro takes over the business and the duo of pranksters find themselves Demoted to secretaries. With the aptly named Castro diabolically at the helm and budget cuts on the horizon, it’s up to Mike and Rodney to learn a couple lessons, stop the bad guy, save the company, and get married.

Michael Vartan is probably best known for his role opposite Jennifer Garner on TV's "Alias," but the affable French-born actor has made an impression on the big screen in movies like "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar," "Never Been Kissed," "One Hour Photo" and "Monster-in-Law." In the exciting French-American action film "Colombiana," on DVD and Blu-ray this week, Vartan has a sexually charged but emotionally distant relationship with an assassin played by Zoe Saldana.
We chatted up Vartan about all sex and no gunplay for his character in "Colombiana," how he feels about the way "Alias" wrapped up, and the skills involved in picking up his future wife in a Whole Foods parking lot.
Your "Colombiana" character, Danny, knows Cataleya (Saldana) as "Jennifer" and is always trying to get to know her better. Although it wasn't discussed in the movie, how do you think you two met and...

D.E.B.S. was actually made twice. First as a short starring Tammy Lynn Michaels, and later as a feature length film with a larger budget and distribution. The latter version came out in 2004 and was just as gay — if not gayer — than the original.
So what happened to the ladies of the feature film D.E.B.S.?
Sara Foster as good girl Amy
D.E.B.S. was Sara's first feature film, and she was its star. Since then, she's had a few minor roles on TV shows and movies (Psych:9, Demoted) but most recently she's appeared in the recurring role of Jen Clark on 90210. She is often photographed watching the matches of her boyfriend, professional German tennis player Tommy Haas.
Jordana Brewster as bad girl Lucy
Jordana went on to star in Anapolis and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning before getting the role of Mia Torreto in Fast & The Furious, which turned into the...

Some Cannes footage has been put together in trailer-form for upcoming comedy Demoted, which on the strength of this taster looks pretty amusing.Mike (Sean Astin) and Rodney (Michael Vartan) are mid-level employees with a fondness for playing pranks on office jerk Ken Castro (David Cross). But when their kindly boss dies, Castro is promoted to his place and Mike and Rodney are demoted to the secretarial pool. Where, unsurprisingly, they don't cope too well. The film's directed by American Pie 2's James B. Rogers, which admittedly is no guarantee of funny, and written by Dan Callahan. Let's hope that we get a chance to see it for ourselves.

The first Demoted wave came in the form of Michael Vartan and David Cross. Both had signed onto the comedy that focuses on a jerky tire sales associate (Vartan) who torments his less-cool colleague (Cross) -- until the downtrodden gets promoted and gives the cool guy a taste of his own medicine. But it looks like Vartan isn't going to be the only jerky one; he's going to revel in the jerkitude with one of our beloved Goonies members.
The Hollywood Reporter posts that Sean Astin will team up with Vartan on the Cross torment, and also be demoted to secretary when Cross gets his revenge. Meanwhile, Sara Foster (D.E.B.S.) is signing on to play Astin's wife, "who's tricked into believing he was promoted," while Celia Weston (Dead Man Walking) will pop up as the head secretary. As such, she "inspires the best friends to plot their revenge.
