In June 1969, amid a revival of the Gold Diggers musical phenomenon,
Busby Berkeley and
Ruby Keeler made a surprise appearance at a Warner Bros' junket with an 11-minute compilation film, "Busby Berkeley and the Gold Diggers", shown later that summer as a short subject with
Robert Downey Sr.'s underground comedy
Putney Swope (1969). This is a compilation of excerpts from Berkeley's films from the 1930's: "The Shadow Waltz" from
Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933), "By a Waterfall" and "Shanghai Lil" from
Footlight Parade (1933), "Spin a Little Web of Dreams" from
Fashions of 1934 (1934), "Lullaby of Broadway" from
Gold Diggers of 1935 (1935) and "All's Fair in Love and War" from
Gold Diggers of 1937 (1936).
