A Unique Short Film
JGReviews21 March 2020
Litany for Mister President is a short film that possesses a unique voice. You would think it might after reading the logline about a man going unhinged after his beloved cat -- Mr. President -- has been taken from him. Now this film doesn't go in the direction of a John Wick, rather it delves more into grief and some dark comedy, though there is some violence too. What director Christopher Meyers and his team have created here is an original combination of some twisted genres and tones to make for what I consider to be a very creative short film. More and more I appreciate originality in filmmaking since so many films seem to just be some regurgitated version of some other mediocre film we've all seen before, which is why I appreciate unique films like this. Actors Dominic Best and John Durbin also deserve some recognition for their quality performances here as well. I understand Litany for Mr. President has recently won several awards at festivals including for Best Short Film, Director, Actor, and Supporting Actor, all of which it is quite worthy. If you have the ability to see this film in a festival near you or perhaps down the road on whichever streaming platforms it ultimately becomes available on, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Enjoyed watching this film - great humor, great acting, beautifully shot and put together! You can tell that a lot of love went into making it. Extremely entertaining, heart-warming, and hard to watch all at the same time.

Creative writing & great acting short

Litany for Mr. President: My favorite thing about this short was how on the edge of my seat I was, for what ended up being a truly funny dark comedy. From the beginning, you can sense tension, that something is happening. It is gripping & violent, and then so much more. My first laugh really surprised me, quite a twisted chuckle that came from God knows where, unexpected yet deeply genuine. Writing like this hasn't come across my screen in years. I was taken with the originality, the writing, and the acting (truly noteworthy). Director Christopher Meyers & his crew have received several accolades for this short film, and it's easy to see why. If this film becomes available to you I highly recommend watching.

Search for meaning

A beautifully mysterious and complicated journey of revenge with subtle dark humor and a hint of hope. It is difficult to explain what this movie really means, so instead I will say that it speaks to the soul; something that many filmmakers struggle to do without resorting to cliches. Your first viewing will keep you surprised with every unexpected turn of the plot, and on your second you will be delighted with the little gems you missed. Highly recommended, good quality, a great watch!

Amazingly hilarious dark comedy

Warning: Spoilers
A-mazing! Director Christopher Meyers knocks it out of the park with this eccentric tale of an "ordinary" man's quest for vengeance. "Ordinary" is key, as our protagonist is not a professional hitman (move over, Keanu), but just a normal guy that will go to the extreme lengths to seek retribution for his cat's murder. Void of cliche action sequences, CGI or bland humor, Meyers unique vision paints a quirky yet relatable world where pain is real, humans are vulnerable and violence is uncoordinated and chaotic...

Truly phenomenal story telling.

Hilariously Dark Short Film That's Worth Watching More Than Once

This short draws you in from its shocking opening scene. Although it contains dramatic and violent content and has somewhat of a Quentin Tarantino vibe, it is also incredibly hilarious at times, turning into a dramedy that will make you want to watch it again to catch what you missed the first time. It won several awards at the Red Dirt Film Festival, and I believe every one of the awards received were well deserved. If you want to be shocked and have a good laugh simultaneously, watch this film!
