This show does a very smart thing here - it goes for a multi-episode arc, continuing the story form last time about Carol's patient, Eddie.
And this story plays out quite well actually, with the inclusion of a potential crush for Carol giving the show the focus I've always felt it needed - a woman starting a new job, dealing with being single again, whilst also being a mum. Everything else should've been secondary.
Talking of things that needed less focus - the other trainee doctors have a storyline of their own, in which they obsessed by the fact that Dr Jacobs has a tattoo.
While this does give the latter character finally something substantial to do, there is some very lazy writing here, saved only by a clever finish that for once doesn't follow the standard sitcom set up.
A better episode overall.
