It seems like every time Dani tries to teach lessons to these kids they try to teach Dani why she shouldn't. They are the key to this house in my opinion. In This second episode the slow burn of suspense remains. The house became more active in this episode giving some jumps and scares along the way. Dani is still running from the darkness in the mirrors but finds a new face that crosses a line. We find out the truth to why miles came home from boarding school, this gives us a little snippet into how he thinks and that makes me scared for Dani. Overall great episode the unknown in the house and in Dani's past is still the key questions

Please tell me that I'm not the only one noticing the Apothecary placing himself around the house in multiple scenes?
It's a slow burning episode but with the perfect suspense and scares!
Definitely shaping up to be a good story

Good drama with mystery and not a horror show so far

Greetings from Lithuania.
After seeing first two episodes of "Haunting of Bly Manor" i can say that this is not a horror show. This is slow building mystery drama with some horror elements. And so far I really enjoying it. Good characters, solid acting (kid who plays young boy is the standout so far). Settings are great and cinematography and directing are good.
Enjoyable show so far, but not a horror series which is fine by me but one is looking for horror show should be warned.

A very atmospheric episode.

Having been scared half to death, Dani tries to process what's happened and take action accordingly.
I had wondered why Miles wasn't in school, this episode gives his story, and perhaps goes some way towards explaining why he is the way he is.
Subtle, if you're wanting a horror fest, look away, that's not what this episode is about, I see this as an episode of laying foundations, the scares are subtle, but they do start to appear at the end of the episode.
The word to best describe this one is atmospheric, it's beautifully made, it looks and feels chilling.
Great acting once again, I just love T'Nia Miller, she's fantastic.
8/10.

Just as bad as episode 1....

So I've given this episode a go as I thought it was possibly worth a chance carrying on. But I was wrong. Stopping here. There's just not enough quality to keep me watching. I'm not interested in any of the characters, the story doesn't intrigue me, the scares aren't affecting me at all (they're predictable and pretty lame) and it's just doing nothing for me. The complete opposite to how I felt about Hill House, can't believe it's written by the same person!?!? Just makes me think Hill House was such a success that he was commissioned to write a follow up of sorts ASAP and basically rushed this through.
I'm only watching during daylight .

A pretty solid second episode.
It shows just enough to leave some sort of chilling feeling in the back of your head, but it also further explores Miles' character a bit, which was cool. Ainsworth is very, very good, and just rotten enough that I sort of already hate his guts.
The rest of the acting is really good too though, especially Victoria Pedretti. Jim Piddock was really good too.
I'm much more invested in this than I thought I'd be. Haunting of Hill House was phenomenal, and so far this is really good too. I've still got the rest of the show to watch yet, but I don't see it jumping the shark or dropping in quality any time soon given what's been established. I especially love the atmosphere and cinematography.
Great show so far!

S1.E2 - Hide and Seek [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E2) My Live Reaction / Review for The Haunting of Bly Manor Season 1 Episode 2 ''The Pupil''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. In this episode we get to see a bit more about Miles and his school for boys, that's interesting. Why did Miles jump off the tree though? Is he suicidal or something? The pastor/teacher is very wise, I like him. Miles killed that pigeon and he says he is sorry he didn't do worse? Damn, this kid is disturbed. Playing hide and seek in this house doesn't sound like a good idea. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.
The manor looks fantastic

Warning: Spoilers
We found out as to why Miles was expelled from the boarding school. Did he want to kill himself when he jumped off the tree? Is he possessed or affected by the man by the window? He might be the lover of the cleaning lady as the au pair found a picture of him and a woman. Flora is so ok with seeing ghosts without a face. It's not yet as creepy as the previous one but the atmosphere is really good.
