Dominic Boucher and Hailey Jackson have played lovers in a number of films and performances, which began their romance in real life.
At the end of the first sequence, the acid trip cocaine overdose, was shot as a one take from the time Jack punches Skylar, following them from stage, to the back stage, out the back door, into the alleyway all the way to Jack passing out. However, in post production they decided to chop up the sequence to make it feel more intense and confusing. "Ultimately," Said writer and director Hailey Jackson, "I didn't care so much about having a cool one take but allowing the actors the opportunity to play this scene out from beginning to end without calling cut. There's nothing worse than being in an intense scene and cutting every two seconds."
The first time the audience sees Mia Harper (Played by Hailey Jackson) she's wearing a band tee shirt with the band Hybrid Sheep Organizer on it. This was a band made up by some of Hailey's friends from high school and one of the bands that inspired the premise of the film. The band's members, River Merrill, and Alex Kent, both went on to peruse separate music careers. All the music in the film were written and performed by River and Alex.
The character of Skylar (played by Siena Stann) was originally written as a male, named Peter. However, Hailey Jackson wanted to hire her roommate and dear friend, Siena Stann play a role in the film. In collaboration with her AD Marielle Cuccinelli they had the idea to make Skylar a woman.
