fun comic movie!
fluffset28 July 2012
If you love to read 'manga'(Japanese comic book) you certainly will love this movie. Its slapstick, stupidity, foolish character that suit for us who love to 'be crazy' sometime and tend to get revenge for some kind of small problem like they did. First, it look like slow and not memorable but lately become faster and faster and make us want to know what will happen next? Are they succeed or not? Seriously, it's unpredictable, funny, happy, every kind of fun word to it. No sad scene at all which is just for fun only. Watch it with your friend I suggest and don't forget to get tissue, not for sad tear but laughing tear. All right?

Watch for it for the comedy and the Japanese scenery
zomberi2 October 2023
This movie is known as "700 Days of Battle: Us vs. The Police" in Western markets. It is a fun film. The movie is filmed in a rural Japanese setting and set back in time by at least two decades.

When a group of teenagers get caught for careless driving, they launch 700 days of war against the policeman. This movie captures the first 100 days. Both sides play pranks on each other.

The movie requires parental guidance, as there are numerous adult references. But, there is no gore or skin. One of the teenagers is slightly effeminate. In the climax, he dresses in drag. The leader of the gang hides under his skirt in one scene. That is about as wild as it gets. The rest of the movie is in good humour.

The hapless policeman strangely looks like Indian movie villain Danny Dengzopa.

A light-hearted comedy
imdb-1954811 July 2011
This is an odd film. It is a mix of slapstick and visual gags with some of the pranks played being bizarre and funny.

There is a mixture of a coming of age drama due to the police officer's attractive wife and there are a few well done sensitive scenes.

The casting is not great, the "teenagers" look so old it is very hard to take them seriously in their roles, sure they could have found actors that actually looked like they were in school! That said the acting is good, everyone does their part but and the timing on the slap stick is excellent.

Not a incredible film but a nice, fun watch.

family-friendly fun, incredibly funny and sweet, breaks the mold
This is a sweet and incredibly funny movie, and unlike a lot of what Hollywood puts out, it's something you can watch with kids without worrying about the content (unless you just don't want to encourage pranks, I guess). It reminds me of the Iranian film Children of Heaven in that way--it moves its plot along without the help of sex or violence or profanity, and depicts a very goodhearted, kind perspective which happens to be a perspective from the young. But just as importantly, it's original: from the opening scene, nothing that happens is what you have been trained to expect from cinema--and that's a good thing.
