Isaac escapes from an installation, after dispatching security personnel, and his creator, scientist Simon Hart, is after him. Isaac is a "regenerative human", whose synthetic skin can withstand multiple nine millimeter slugs buried into his chest(Simon calls him bullet resistant)..this derives from the evolution in nanotechnology(Hart, with great enthusiasm, affectionately labels him a "nano robot"). Isaac's memory has been erased and he feels no pain or emotion. He commandeers a deputy's car(and insists she stay with him until he says otherwise)and flees after a confrontation with Hart's dangerous hired goons, equipped with hi-tech weaponry. You could rename this movie "Isaac's Run" for "Cyborg Soldier" is essentially a road/chase movie with our duo attempting to evade capture from both the local police, Simon and a member of the corporation who funds the cyborg soldier project, Janice Fraser, and Hill's "men in black"("Mr. Beck", the bald leader-in-charge, commands this group, kind of an "efficiency expert" who creates and cleans up the messes which could interfere with his boss' efforts). Richard Franklin is very much robotic in performance, as he should be since Isaac is, in essence, a blank supersoldier whose memory was wiped clean(..though, the movie reveals memories returning, slight images coming back in fragments), with Tiffani Thiessen as his "prisoner", deputy Lindsey Reardon, who eventually helps him identify who he was before. Bruce Greenwood, as cold-hearted and determined scientist Hart, whose experiments have finally become a success, is an effective villain, willing to do whatever it takes, no matter the cost, to see that his work remains undisturbed, while Wendy Anderson , as Fraser, sees Simon's handiwork, first hand, after Mr. Beck and his men gun down police officers searching for Reardon, dedicating herself to stopping his operation. Beck had Reardon's gun placed at the scene of their murder of her boyfriend deputy to implicate her for their crime. For a movie titled "Cyborg Soldier", there's not as much action as you'd expect. A small scale set piece here and there involving some hand-to-hand combat, one major shootout, and the major climax at the end as Isaac confronts Hart, with all hell breaking loose, as Reardon follows along, seeing for herself the facility's rooms where the experiments took place. Nothing you haven't seen before regarding a superhuman soldier with superior powers and the cold-blooded scientist willing to kill anyone who stands in his way..Greenwood, to his credit can play the unapologetic a$$hole with the best of them. Nice Canadian locations and a competent cast help a rather formulaic plot slightly. No great shakes, but no that bad, either..just not really all that memorable, especially in regards to this particular sub-genre. My favorite scene, also ripped off from, I believe Universal Soldier, has Isaac removing bullets from his chest with a knife as a queazy Reardon looks on.

The main character, Isaac, wasn't a cyborg. He was genetically augmented and had nanobots in his body, but absolutely no cybernetic components, ergo he was not a "cybernetic organism", or "cyborg" for short. In fact, he was never even referred to as being a cyborg in the movie, the title must have been insisted upon by some idiot with the distributors. However, it wasn't a bad movie. The acting was quite competent and I have to say Rich did a good job. As far as cheap movies go, it blew away most of the ones I try to watch on OnDemand and wind up turning off after 10 minutes(case in point, "Pistol Whipped" with that bloated, ridiculously lousy actor Steven Seagal).

When you ain't subscribed to cable or satellite like I am, your choice of movies are limited to Telefutura, Telemundo, or the digital-only channel THIS. I discovered "Cyborg Soldier" on Telefutura. The channel that boasts films starring Arnold, Jean-Claude, or Steven didn't list any stars for the movie's promo (not even Tiffani[-Amber] Theissen, but aisle talk about her L8r). Also like w/ other such lackluster televised cinema, I was doing something else instead of solely watching the movie, such as playing the Wii. Twas a smart choice as I was incredibly bored during most of "Cyborg Soldier." The only action scenes were near the beginning & the end. In between was pretty much a really bad d8 w/ Kelly from "Saved by the Bell." 2 describe it specifically: 1) No date gets a woman in the mood when the man gouges out bullets from his front. 2) The movie takes place in the winter, so Theissen is overdressed. But considering how aged she looks in "Cyborg Soldier," u probably ain't missin' much. (Can't she follow in her costar Mario Lopez's footsteps & dance w/ the stars?) & 3) The film's a long dull adventure of Tiffani as a bounty hunter unraveling the mystery of her cyborg fella. 1 cool gross scene was the cyborg stabbing a thug in the eye, w/ a tattoo of said f8 for gratuitous irony. But nevertheless, "Cyborg Soldier" is still 4gettable & best watched while doing something else like playing the Wii, Xbox or PS3, doing Sudoku or the crossword on your newspaper, or just texting.

He is not a cyborg. Nanotech is not cybernetic. He has no additional parts in his body.

Rich Franklin's acting is not bad at all. I wonder if this is the reason his performance in UFC is average now. Anyway he should take some acting lessons to be an action figure. But still his acting promises it. At least filming will save him from being beat up.

There is no problem in making a sportsman an actor. He will be better then Arnold and Dolph. We have seen them in screen more then some drama school graduated actors. This may be not fair. But movie cares for movie, if it works then there is no need to limit an athletes movie carrier.

A low budget film. Still good to watch.

An enhanced human called Isaac is on the run from some shady scientists and shanghais a deputy sheriff, Lindsey Reardon, on the way as he seeks to evade capture. It's similar to 'Universal Soldier' but I enjoyed this low budget movie. There was effective photography of the wintry landscape and some good acting, particularly Tiffani Thiessen as the doughty officer Reardon. I thought she was most appealing. Rich Franklin as Isaac is subdued but he wasn't meant to express emotion anyway so that was fair enough. He looked the part anyway.

The film ends on a sober note when Reardon visits the graveyard to see Isaac's headstone as he was killed by a huge explosion at the end of the film. The camera tracks back from her. Oh no, I thought, Isaac is going to survive the conflagration and will suddenly appear in frame.! That would be silly, one thought. But no, he is dead. So no final unlikely plot twist thankfully. Good job.
