Great commentary on Everest climbs ...
Vic_max28 December 2007
This 4 part mini-series is a great discussion of the realities of climbing Mt. Everest. It aired right after the series "Everest: Beyond the Limit" and was a great follow-up to the expedition.

The topics ranged from personal stories of tragic events to the realities of summit fever. The discussions were frank and illuminating. There are some harsh life and death realities that climbers regularly face and you hear it all. Interspersed throughout each show are video clips relating to to the topic of the moment (not all are pleasant).

Each show featured several members of the "Beyond the Limit" series expedition like Mogens (the asthmatic), Tim (the biker), Monica (the team doctor) and Russell Brice (expedition leader). Also present were a number of experienced climbers and Everest guides. Each discussion panel was moderated / hosted by Phil Keoghan (host of "The Amazing Race").

The 4 parts are:

"Duel with the Mountain" - what it takes to take on an Everest climb.

"The Everest Effect" - problems at high altitude.

"Tough Calls" - controversial decisions and personal stories of tragedy.

"The Dream" - the increase in climbers on the mountain and the effect of summiting on climbers' personal lives afterwards.

The program is well done and very enlightening. If you like enjoy shows on Everest, this is a must see!
