The Heart of a Father
ISmellSnow13 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Allie invites her friends over for a sleepover and Elizabeth helps the girls bake/decorate cupcakes.

Ned Yost starts to have stomach pain and thinks it may be food poisoning from the saloon. Florence overhears and spreads the rumor quickly. Ned goes to visit Faith at the infirmary and she suggests he drinks cabbage water and comes back later when doctor Carson gets back to town. The rumor is spreading like wild fire and Lucas is a bit concerned. No one else has gotten food poisoning so they think Neds pain may be from something else until they realize that he was the only one to eat the kippers at the cafe. Now, the cafe is losing business. When Carson takes a look at Ned, he agrees with Faith that Ned has a stomach ulcer, not food poisoning.

Carson is impressed with Faiths assessment of Ned and thinks she should pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She's not so sure about it, because of the head nurse job offer, but Carson will be able to intern her from Hope Valley.

To restore business, Lucas and Bill come together to host a free community BBQ to show everyone that their food is safe after all.

Nathan's father comes to town and Nathan is really upset. Allie wants to get to know her grandfather so she can hear stories about her mother, but Nathan refuses. Elizabeth helps Allie come up with a list of reasons why she wants to get to know her grandfather and she presents it to Nathan. Nathan decides to give his father a chance, and asks him to sit with with them at the community BBQ.

The episode ends with Nathan getting a call that there was a robbery in Benson Hills and that his father is a suspect. Nathan has to arrest his father.

Another well shot and well acted episode. I love when we end with cliffhangers.

One of the best written episodes of season 7. Alfonso did a remarkable job writing this episode. N, his father, and Allie did a great job with the acting skills. Love these 3.

Some great scenes and life lessons in this episode...

Love the dialogue between Rosemary, Leland and little Jack during the babysitting scene... It was a great followup to Leland's marriage tips to Jesse. Also appreciated all the life lessons in this episode about giving people chances, not spreading bad rumors, owning up to your mistakes...
