Purcell is a really complicated character (I've always enjoyed William Hurt). His relationship with Patty is yet another secret that has grave implications yet can't be talked about. As Purcell is investigated, players from everywhere begin to filter in. He is so dishonest that Patty can't for a minute depend on him for consistent information. Meanwhile, a young guy is investigating a farming area where livestock are dying in a dramatic number. However, it is obvious that what he is doing is incredibly dangerous. Ellen continues to act to destroy Patty, never buying that when she was attacked in the apartment, our not so friendly lawyer was the real target. In all of this, a ruby ring that disappeared the night Purcell's wife was murdered becomes a central focus in finding the murderer.
