Disappointing
bryanlheckman8 March 2024
First let me say I love the basic plot line. The concept of The Fury is good stuff, and the action scenes are great. Now that's out of the way, everything else about this show is hackneyed, all the way from the angry girl lead character who somehow not only becomes a combat genius in weeks, to the fact that she owns no clothing that is not a crop top. It's not uncommon in action TV/films for there to be a few plot holes, especially French productions, but this thing is ridiculous. There is a 'jump the shark' moment 4 times in every episode. I wish someone with vision could do this story without selling out to marketing stereotypes.

An Underworld Hero Origin Story
WordsworthStone4 March 2024
That sums it up. It's got hype action. A hero's journey. Underworld lore. Crime Families. Hippity Hop style. And it's French. Like the creator went to the Luc Besson school of storytelling. All style, some story, over-the-top amped fun.

I wouldn't downgrade it 'Fast and Furious' style, but there is definite camp. Maybe if this show does gets multiple seasons, they will end up stealing tanks to take up to space.

It's not that real, grime spot that sells tasty cheese by the slice. It's not dressed up like it's a sit-down with courses. It's Pizza Hut and we're hungry. Thank you, may I have another?

Could have been better
murathoti-488227 March 2024
Surprised to see the overall rating. Maybe the French liked it the most. Weak story line, fuzzy characters, bad acting and direction. Both the Furies have expressionless wooden faces, especially the younger Fury. I read in one of the reviews about the actress may have gotten this role because of the casting couch, but though I do not agree to it completely, she is not a good fit for the role and she is very bad at acting. And then the introduction of the second boyfriend, whole role does not have any impact on the story except that the character was used to show that the younger Fury can have sex. And it is not even funny when both the boyfriends fight for her. At least the first boyfriend had some say in the story to show how she was a normal girl until her father is murdered but the second boyfriend is ridiculous and he too is a very bad actor. The first and the last episodes were a bit consolation in a rather a bland show. If the role of both the boyfriends were to be reduced or deleted the series would have ended in 5-6 episodes.

What the f...???? not MAFIOSA for sure
searchanddestroy-117 March 2024
I am sorry folks, but I could not make it with this series. No, I could not, because it is totally a big, huge, juicy non sense. First Marina Fois in such a crap is like if we had seen Louis De Funès in a western.... The story and production design remind me Luc Besson's Europacorp craps from the nineties and 2000's: such as TAXI, BANLIEUE 13, YAMAKASI.... I tried two episodes but, it was too hard for me to see such series where women lead the underworld. As also MAFIOSA was, but the latest was a real tough, gritty and poignant TV show. Not like this one, one of the biggest nonsense of TV industry.

Fatal Femme Furies
t-d-t-m8219 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's a difficult one to review. Firstly there are 8 episodes and over 40 minutes per episode. This is a lot of TV. I think it is just too much for what it is trying to perceive. It could have been compressed into a movie and I think that would have justified it a lot more as it is just a very tired and overrun and extremely cliched series.

The best thing is that the protagonist is a women. It does have a great diverse casting and I like the actors; especially the big bodyguard/fixer; Simon; who is acted superbly by. Steve Tientcheu as well as Jeremy Nadeau as the unfortunate cop Elie and Sandor Funtek does a good enough job as Orso.

The main casts are female which is great and rare in a hitman movie. I just am quite bored of the repetitive plot. There are long and drawn-out violent scenes where in real life people won't survive.

You won't survive a chest of rigged explosives if you stood a few metres from it. You won't survive an x number of bullets into the same area. You won't surive some other scenes either.

That's what annoys me. It's constant where it's make belief and not reality. Acting is there and solid but the script is just badly-written and it's always a twist in the storyline. I am on episode 8 and I just watched the most ridiculous gun show in the 7th episode.

There's a lot of amazing French cinema but this looks like it got snapped-up on the cheap after the success of Lupin. Please try harder.

Flawed but entertaining
barrymw1 May 2024
I enjoyed this despite it being very frustrating at times. The basic premise is good and the main storyline is also very good. However, it is let down by too many plot holes and some of the acting is very amateurish. Nevertheless if you approach this in the same way as you would something like Die Hard or anything with the likes of Jason Statham or Jean Claude Van Damme then you will get enjoyment from it.

Like most action movies the action sequences in this become ever more preposterous to the point where I started wondering whether it was a parody. Entertaining but in a trashy way. You know the drill, the enemies have all the firepower of a small army but can't hit anything remotely close to a target while the protagonists can bring down said army with a small handgun and only two bullets.

In the whirlwind of action and intrigue, a labyrinth of contradictory emotions
gsilecchia2 May 2024
Let's face the tumult of action and intrigue with "Furies", the TV series that catapults us into the dark and dangerous Paris of crime. In this urban jungle, Lyna, a determined and resolute woman, navigates between vendettas and secrets, promising viewers a journey full of adrenaline and suspense. However, behind the veil of action, lies a maze of intricate plots and characters that, while promising, often leave a sense of dissatisfaction and emptiness. Action is the pulsating heart of "Furies", with sequences that captivate the viewer and transport them into the chaos of the Parisian streets. Lyna, portrayed intensely by Lina El Arabi, is a powerful guide through this whirlwind of contrasting emotions: vengeance, desire for justice, and a profound search for truth. However, as we allow ourselves to be swept away by the breathtaking action, we realize that there is much more beneath the surface of this series. The plot of "Furies" unfolds like an intricate labyrinth, full of twists and turns that leave the viewer breathless. But as we delve deeper, a sense of uncertainty about the value of the entire journey emerges. Secondary characters, while promising, often disappoint due to their lack of depth and development, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction and emptiness. Despite these imperfections, "Furies" still offers an engaging and vibrant experience. The performances of the actors, especially those of Lina El Arabi and Marina Foïs, are exceptional and keep the viewer glued to the screen. The Parisian settings add a touch of charm and atmosphere, transporting us into a dark and dangerous world that serves as the backdrop to the story. "Furies" presents itself as a compelling mix of contrasting emotions: thrilling action, tight suspense, some moments of disappointment, and a touch of Parisian charm. It's not a perfect series, but for those willing to immerse themselves in the whirlwind of its intricate plots, it could still offer a noteworthy experience.

Some Good French Action on High Gear!
cscjmbzhcc2 March 2024
Its been a while since I have watched some good French action without any boring dialogues and wasting time. The series is interesting to watch, some good action scenes and decent script. If your looking for some good weekend binge with guns, gangs and mystery, this one is for you.

The scenes are well done, keeping up the speed to delivery without any fillers on romance and drama. The unfolding of events, twists, reveals and awe-moments are good enough for a pizza and action watchtime.

The actors are great and fight scenes are realistic enough to keep going till the end. I'd recommend to watch it and get entertained. And well, "The Fury" is a good protagonist to look out for.

Multiple time jumps, many "almost died" scenarios
erlebixd15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If I would need to summarize this story it would be "Someone pointing a gun at you and almost killing you but you get saved by someone else." And this happens at least five times in each episode. It gets so old nobody really dies in this story.

You will see someone get shot about 10 times in the chest with a .50 CAL machine gun but he magically survived because bullet vests can save you from those of course. Didn't you knew?

Everyone just has plot armor and the episodes are not fun to watch. You will always know what is going to happen before it happens without needing to think hard about it.

Excellent French action gendre. With many twists.
CaptainAmerikas11 March 2024
I truly enjoyed watching Furies. It is a classic french action gendre to the core but it also adds surprising twists and turns that will really make you want to watch the next episode. Every time. Some complaints about how realistic gun fight sequences are exaggerated imo. Sure I am no expert with guns but the scenes look as good or better than most big budget Hollywood gun fights scenes i have ever seen. Note: I admit that i also watched Furies in its original french language track since i am bilingual, so not sure how good the english dubbing is which could make a difference. When watching other languages foreign films ( i also love anything Scandinavian ), i always make it a point to listen to the intended original language track and read closed captions when necessary. Give it a try. It is well executed.

Terrible acting weak story
bristolian-633457 March 2024
The plot is so poor, the acting terrible. The lead actress as a hero is idiotic as she is totally stupid. So poor that I feel sad I wasted a couple of hours watching 3 episodes. I think I would have preferred not to have the English voiceovers as they were also not convincing.

I am trying to think of some redeeming feature about this programme but am really struggling. Sad because the premise could have been so promising, but the very weak and unbelievable story line has let it down badly.

I can't give any spoilers as I have given up after 3 episodes, it was just too ridiculous and I love action packer female led thrillers.

Meh!
jayezrecordings15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This kinda started out ok, but soon went downhill FAST!

So many plot holes and much of the logic was just stupid!

The last episode didn't explain how they got on an ever moving train, they just appeared.

The girl who played the main character, was saved by a bulletproof vest but then takes it off when she gets up (LOGIC should tell you that any protection is better than no protection considering it had already saved her life once!)

We are meant to believe that some kid with no training, all of a sudden gets "bad ass" (i use that term very loosely) in the space of a few episodes.

I found that as the episodes continued, more plot holes emerged, more logic was missing and it just got pathetic at best...

At one point when a group of them were trapped in a building, which was like a green house lol, they started putting up barriers for protection... trouble is the barriers were just more glass or bamboo hahahaha

More laps in logic... we are talking about highly trained individuals (caught) but they leave bullets in the wall for the police to find too.

PLEASE dont bother with another season.

Completely gripping!
katrina_miller14 March 2024
I am so glad I watched two episodes before reading the bad reviews, otherwise I would not have watched it.

Many reviews say the acting is terrible from the main actress, is she an amazing actress, no! Is she awful, I didn't think she was that bad! Maybe because it is dubbed for me it was less noticeable.

BUT what I can tell you is the series is interesting, gripping and had so much going on, that it had me gripped immediately.

All I am going to say is; gangsters, godfathers, furies, Olympus and the underworld and a lot of action with twists and turns that take place, worth a watch! I look forward to the next season.

Super dumb
N1dhi11 April 2024
So a woman whos never been in a fight suddenly turns into a combination of Jack Reacher and Jason Bourne 5 months after being in a prison - a place where she got beat up daily no less?

The action scenes are well-choreographed no doubt but the plot has more holes than pathways making it seem just ridiculous.

The fault here lies with the writers and the lead lyna - tho that may be on the director and not the actress. Either way, the action team gets props but the writers let the show down. Guess they missed out a few pages in between when they handed the script to the director.

Tv shows are fun when larger than life but not when they are just plain ridiculous.

French Touch
eric-848565 March 2024
Seeking to avenge her father's death, a young woman becomes entangled in the web of the Fury, peacekeeper of the Paris criminal underworld. Great French show! It feels so good to rediscover essence of French genre film straight out of the 80s and 90s. The performers are very well chosen with a special mention for Lina El Arabi and Marina Foïs. Directing - by Cédric Nicolas-Troyan, Samuel Bodin and Laure Weaver - is mastered, inventive and very well paced. Paris is such a giant character. The soundtrack is heavy. The stunts are pure happiness. And the show is particularly well produced. Looking forward to season 2.

The actors have no gun training
javiergarcon7 March 2024
It's so very sad to see actors that come from a country where people do not own guns like they do in the United States. These actores have no gun training whatsoever with that said your gopping to see unrealistic gun shooting. There is this one actress playing "Lena" That is shooting a Desert Eagle toy gun that should be kicking in the air with a huge muzzle flash but neither muzzle flash, sound or kick is ever showed. It baffles me how a girl with no wrist, forearm or shoulder muscles could aim with one ahnd a desert eagle and shoot 50 metters dead center to the head. I only gave it 3 stars because I liked the story and minus because the realism wasnt there.
