The CBS single-camera supernatural comedy “Ghosts” – adapted from the British series of the same name – stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as Sam and Jay, a young couple who inherit a rundown mansion that’s co-inhabited by the spirits of those who died on the property throughout history. The 2023-2024 broadcast season is nearing its end, with finales already starting to air. Due to the strikes in summer 2023, TV seasons were shortened to about 10-13 episodes for most shows. Some finales, including the NBC dramas that did air in the fall have already aired finales. And some shows will be signing off for good, whether we already knew it before seasons premiered or recently learned of cancellations. S.W.A.T. will no longer be airing a series finale but a season finale, following a second uncancellation, while Blue Bloods will be airing the finale for the first half of its final season. Check out all the finale dates for the 2023-2024 season still to come below, and keep checking as we’ll be updating it as more are announced. Thursday, May 2 8:31 p.m.: Ghosts (CBS) ...

American TV showrunners often take the ideas which originated across the ocean and make their own shows, adapting the scripts for the country’s audience. While some of such attempts turn out to be disappointing, there are a number of series which clearly surpassed the quality of the original British ones, with 5 of them being enlisted here.
1. The Office (2005-2013)
Presumably, this show comes first when we speak about these remakes. Originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the series’ concept eventually worked out with Steve Carell’s starring version.
There is no doubt that it became cultish for the audience all around the world, making its characters and catchphrases the most recognizable ones when we’re talking about sitcoms of such a kind.
2. Shameless (2011 - 2021)
The dramedy series, following the Gallaghers' unstable household ruled by a troublesome single father, was an adaptation of the British show of the same name too.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ghosts Season 3 Finale, “Isaac’s Wedding.”] Ghosts held a very special wedding in its Season 3 finale episode, aptly titled “Isaac’s Wedding,” but fans were in for a big surprise when Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) couldn’t go through with his nuptials to Nigel (John Hartman), and that wasn’t even the most shocking moment. While Isaac experiences a touch of cold feet due to the presence of living stripper and DJ Chris (Deniz Akdeniz), he seems to be swayed back to the idea of marriage until Pete (Richie Moriarty) returns from his St. Lucia getaway sharing his feelings of love for a ghost named Donna (Allegra Edwards) that he met while there. Realizing that he doesn’t feel this way about Nigel, Isaac decides to step back from the impending marriage, leaving Carol (Caroline Aaron) of all ghosts to pick up the leftovers and get married to a bayonetted red coat.

Julio Torres is crediting Ryan Gosling for being a “world-builder” of a comedic actor.
The “Problemista” writer/director/star told Entertainment Weekly that Gosling had more than a few sketch ideas when he returned to host “SNL.” Torres previously worked as a “Saturday Night Live” writer, and also returned with a skit per Gosling’s request to follow-up their viral “Papyrus” sequence parodying the font used in James Cameron’s “Avatar.” And much like the “Avatar” franchise itself, Gosling had a vision for making multiple installments of the “Papyrus” sketch.
“With no Ryan Gosling, there’s no ‘Papyrus 1,’ and there’s no ‘Papyrus 2,’” Torres said. “The first one was this sort of throwaway joke I made that he really latched on to. He was like, ‘Oh, I think maybe there’s an idea there,’ and I was like, ‘I really don’t think so.’ I didn’t tell him that,...

Variety reports the late 1970s-set film will follow Moura as Marcelo, “a university professor in his 40s who is on the run. He travels from São Paulo to the seaside city of Recife during Carnival week, hoping to reunite with his son. But he soon finds out he has been tailed and spied on by neighbors in his new refuge, leaving him no possible escape from the tentacles of corruption.” Maria Fernanda Candido (The Traitor) is also among the ensemble of the film, which is aiming for a 2025 premiere and will mark the director’s most ambitious work yet.

Since last year’s winner – Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”) – is now campaigning as a lead, this race is wide open to an array of possible newcomers, past contenders, and even a few former winners.
At this point, the clear frontrunner is potential category first-timer Meryl Streep (“Only Murders in the Building”), who previously achieved two Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress wins for “Holocaust” (1978) and “Angels in America” (2004). Hoping to challenge her are three of Edebiri’s “The Bear” cast mates: Liza Colon-Zayas, Abby Elliott, and Molly Gordon.

Asher Grodman, the actor who plays Trevor on Ghosts, thinks fans of the series should prepare themselves for a wild ride. The Ghosts season 3 finale is just weeks away, and the writers have a lot to live up to. The season 2 finale served up a massive cliffhanger. In the season 2 finale, fans saw a spirit get “sucked off” into the afterlife, but they needed to wait until midway through season 3 to learn who actually went on to the next realm. Grodman says the season 3 finale is even bigger than season 2.

Another NCIS spinoff is coming to an end. CBS has canceled NCIS: Hawai’i after three seasons. The two-part series finale will air on April 29 and May 6. And given what series star Alex Tarrant (who plays Kai) previously told TV Insider, it sounds like fans are going to be left hanging. “There is definitely a special twist that comes in towards the end. It was a shock to me when I was reading the scripts, that’s for sure,” he said, adding that the finale “most definitely … ends on a cliffhanger.” NCIS: Hawai’i was the last current CBS show whose fate had yet to be decided. The network has renewed Tracker, The Neighborhood, NCIS, FBI (for three seasons), FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, Ghosts, Fire Country, NCIS: Sydney, S.W.A.T. (after it was previously supposed to be ending with the current seventh season), Elsbeth, and The Equalizer for the 2024-2025 season.

Michael Jackson‘s “Blood on the Dance Floor” is one of the most underrated songs of the “Thriller” singer‘s career. While the song’s funky instrumental is fascinatingly dark, the song’s backstory is even darker. The song’s producer revealed that the King of Pop wasn’t even aware of the creepy coincidence behind “Blood on the Dance Floor.”

In the 1990s, the “Man in the Mirror” star started experimenting with the R&b subgenre known as new jack swing. Who better to help him than Teddy Riley, the lead singer of the band Blackstreet? Riley worked with Jackson on the final three studio albums the King of Pop released in his lifetime — Dangerous, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, and Invincible — as well as the remix album Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ghosts Season 3, Episode 9, “The Traveling Agent.”] Ghosts is breaking new ground in the latest installment, “The Traveling Agent,” as do-gooder troop leader spirit Pete (Richie Moriarty) discovers his special power is that he can travel beyond the ghost boundary on Woodstone’s property. What’s there left to fear after you’ve already died? For Richie Moriarty’s Pete Martino, the spiritual being of a 1980s travel agent and scout leader on the hit CBS comedy Ghosts, the possibilities are unimaginable.
As in, he can now actually stop dying and starting living. The nervous goody-two-shoes never really lived his own life because he was too busy making other people’s fantasies come alive (he even died by an arrow through the neck because he was helping a bunch of young scouts learn archery). Because the penultimate episode of the series’s third season, entitled “The Traveling Agent,” showed that Pete has a special power that none of the other ghosts who inhabit the show’s very haunted Woodstone Mansion seem to possess: the ability to leave the property.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from Thursday’s episode of Ghosts.
Woodstone Mansion was in for quite the surprise on this week’s episode of Ghosts.
The penultimate episode didn’t disappoint, revealing yet another ghost’s powers. It looks like Pete (Richie Moriarty) isn’t stuck on the property after all. Unlike everyone else, he isn’t bound by the ghost border at Woodstone and can travel wherever he pleases. Naturally, his first getaway is a trip to the grocery store with Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), who immediately loses him due to the fact that he can’t actually see any of the ghosts.
Luckily, this wasn’t another Flower (Sheila Carrasco) situation. By the end of the episode, Pete had returned safe and sound. But the newfound confidence he got from leaving the property inspired him to take a trip to see his family. Hopefully he’ll be...

Ghosts fans were thrilled when Flower, the spirit who was believed to be “sucked off” in the season 3 premiere, returned.
