Sneak Peek actress Nina Dobrev, star of The CW's 'vampire' TV series "The Vampire Diaries" in a new pictorial and video for the September 2013 issue of "Cosmopolitan" Magazine.
The Canadian actress started her performance career by modeling followed by commercials, then film acting in the features "Fugitive Pieces", "Away from Her" and "Never Cry Werewolf", before scoring a part in the long-running TV series, "Degrassi: The Next Generation".
After appearing in a number of Lifetime original movies, she played in the MTV movie "The American Mall", before landing the lead in The CW's vampire series "The Vampire Diaries".
In the series, still going strong, Dobrev plays the dual role of 'Katherine Pierce', a vampire loved by two human brothers during the American Civil War and Katherine's doppelgänger 'Elena Gilbert', a human who is caught between the same two brothers, who are now the vampires, 'Damon' and 'Stefan Salvatore'.

When the coldest time of the year arrives, the snow it leaves behind may have some people putting on their gloves. Some will tuck in, hiding in the warmth of their homes and others will challenge the winter wonderland head-on. Here are some “inspirational” films to make tackling the winter doldrums just a little more fun. The theme in this list is what kind of beasts may lurk within that icy tundra near and afar?
The Thing from Another World (1951), The Thing (1982 & 2011) DVD & Blu-ray
The Thing From Another World (1951) at Amazon
No list can be complete without mention of the original, John Carpenter’s classic and the prequel in the same breath. When unleashing an alien terror is not enough, a night can be enjoyed watching all three films! Alien invasion cannot be any more disgusting with the innovative monster creations that are to be found in this movie set.

Just when I began losing my recently acquired Canadian accent from watching every single episode of "Trailer Park Boys" (and both movies), FEARnet has gone and brought more madness for us to enjoy from up North!
Canadian horror/comedy "Todd & The Book of Pure Evil" is a cult hit in its homeland, and it is coming to America by way of FEARnet this August. The series is about a mystical book that grants teenagers' deepest, darkest desires but demands payback at a horrible price.
"Todd & The Book of Pure Evil" stars Alex House (Dark Oracle), Maggie Castle (Dead Mary), Melanie Leishman (Never Cry Werewolf), and Jason Mewes (Clerks). It is based on a short film from 2003 by Craig David Wallace and Max Reid.
Season Two of the cult series is in production in Manitoba, Canada, but you can catch up on the series when FEARnet HD begins airing Season One on August 2nd.

Today we have two promo clips for a female-dominated action film “Bitch Slap.” One is a Public Service Announcement (PSA) and the other is a “Girls Gone Wild” ad.
“Bitch Slap” is a post-modern, thinking man’s throwback to the “B” Movie/Exploitation films of the 1950’s – 70’s as well as a loving, sly parody of same. Inspired by the likes of “Dragstrip Girls,” “Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill,” “Kung Fu Nun” and the pantheon of Blacksploitation films, “Bitch Slap” mixes hot girls, fast cars, big guns, nasty tongues, outrageous action and jaw-dropping eye candy with a message… don’t be naughty!
The film starring Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), Kevin Sorbo (Never Cry Werewolf), Renee O’Connor (Boogeyman 2) and America Olivo (General Hospital).

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Fabio weren’t totally gay? The answer is "Kevin Sorbo". This all-American hunk made a name for himself as the studly, oft-shirtless Hercules on the mid-1990’s TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. 6'4" Kevin has since played the tall handsome dude in Kull the Conqueror, Walking Tall 2, and the sci-fi TV series Andromeda. You might have seen him in the 2008 horror film Never Cry Werewolf or the sci-fi flick Something Beneath. He just wrapped the new fantasy movie Tales of an Ancient Empire and the comedy series Wolf Canyon, and he makes an appearance as Mr. Phoenix in the exploitationsploitation flick Bitch Slap, out this month in theaters. Kevin is so sweet and devastatingly handsome that he’s quite possibly the sexiest Scary Stud of the Month we’ve ever had. He exudes sex appeal and charm, and it...

The CW has cast the lead in its upcoming teen vamp pilot. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nina Dobrev has signed on to play Elena, the lead in Vampire Diaries. The 19-year-old Bulgarian-born actress is no stranger to the underworld, as she starred in last year's Never Cry Werewolf for the Sci-Fi Channel. Vampire Diaries is a vampire melodrama based on the popular pre-Twilight young adult book series. Two vampire brothers come to a small town – one good, one evil – and vie for the soul of the town, and Elena in particular. No word yet on who will play the two male leads, but the role of Elena's brother has already been filled by Steven R. McQueen. The show will be...

Foy reviewed the TV version for us when it premiered on Sci-Fi back in May (click here for the review), and here's the synopsis provided by Genius Products:
"When 16-year-old Loren (Dobrev) and her family greet a new neighbor – a good-looking single guy and his dog – she senses something mysterious and dangerous about him. Her suspicions become further aroused when some of the locals begin disappearing one by one. As Loren becomes obsessed with her neighbor’s behavior, she is unaware that he is monitoring her just as closely – like a hungry wolf stalks its prey at night. With the help of local TV hunting show personality Redd Tucker (Sorbo) and a...

There's a frightening number of fall horror DVDs coming out the closer we get to Halloween. I've compiled a sampling in no particular order of just some of the many, many new releases coming soon to a DVD shelf near you in September and October.
Genius Entertainment will release Never Cry Werewolf (review) on September 16th. Originally premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel back in May, Nina Dobrev ("Degrassi: The Next Generation") stars as a young woman who requires the help of a slightly inept TV hunting show host Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules: The Legendary Journeys") in dealing with the werewolf who just moved in next door. To say that the film is derivative of Fright Night would be an understatement. Fortunately, it's actually not all that bad. You can find out more by reading my review, the one I accidentally submitted the uncorrected version of with all manner of typos and...
