This sort of show seemed right up my alley. '70s setting, rock and roll setting, inspired by the events of the creation of Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, one of my favorite albums of all time.

I'm a big reader so I actually went ahead and read the book in advance and loved the heck out of it. So much so that I wanted more so watching this is a no-brained.

I think this was a solid-enough start. I really like the casting, especially Sam Claflin and Riley Keough as Billy Dunne and Daisy Jones (Margot?), which is important when they'll likely be the two main characters much like the book. It's scary how almost everyone else is pretty much how I pictured them in the book too.

What really surprised me was the cinematography. I wasn't expecting it to be all that memorable, let alone STUNNING. It's already a super gorgeous series, and the directing and editing feels pretty tight, even on par with HBO's newest shows.

There have been a few changes form the book already, but nothing super major for the most part. Although I'm not sure why Daisy's mom seems to kind of resent her. It'll be interesting to see where that goes, if anywhere.

This established everything it needed to for the story I loved from the novel. I like that they've kept the interviewing aspect as well, which heightened the book and could easily heighten the series to if they did it right.

A solid start!

Captivating Debut : Daisy Jones and the Six, Hits All the Right Notes

The first episode of Daisy Jones and the Six was a remarkable cinematic experience. At the outset, I was slightly thrown off by the different timelines presented, but as the minutes rolled on, this unique narrative approach transformed from a potential weakness into a notable strength. The story is crafted to immerse us in the intricacies of the characters' past and present, creating an intriguing atmosphere.

What is particularly striking in this episode is how effectively the emotions of the characters are captured on screen. The actors deliver exceptional performances that make us feel every nuance of their feelings. The palpable excitement during the creation of music, the tensions within the group, the surges of passion - everything is authentically felt.

As a viewer accustomed to fantasy and science fiction series, Daisy Jones and the Six represents a welcome change of pace. This series has something unique stemming not only from the music but also from the depth of the characters and the meticulously recreated setting. It feels like a journey back in time to an era where music groups form and disintegrate, where creativity is in full bloom, and where human relationships are complex and fascinating.

The romance, a vital element of the plot, is perfectly balanced in this first episode. It adds an extra layer of emotion to the story without becoming overpowering. Instead, it is subtly woven into the narrative, contributing to making the characters more endearing and believable.

This promising start genuinely has me looking forward to discovering the upcoming episodes and delving deeper into the characters' journeys while enjoying the soundtrack that accompanies this adventure. This series appears to be a must-watch for fans of drama, music, and emotionally charged stories.

Uhh Where's Pete??

Warning: Spoilers
So we just made Pete and the Vietnam war disappear? It was a great time to be alive? Because the draft just doesn't exist in this parallel universe? Weird. How do you make a show about the 60's/70's and fail to mention the war and the draft? I never thought I'd be a "the book was better" person, but that's a huge miss of the changes. And for what? Dentistry? Anyway, nice touch making Camila a photographer. But her quick turnaround to drop her dreams for Billy's cheapened her headstrong nature she has in the book. Glad to see Warren representing the Latin community. Good on Sebastian for that one!

Decent start, but hardly thrilling

Most reviews about this show seem to have been written by people who read the novel, which I haven't so my review is based only on what I watched.

The main reason why I choose to follow this show is because I thought it may have good music and the music is indeed good. The plot seems predictable, but there is just so much you can do with the story of an LA based-band in the 70s, except spicing it up with the personal conflicts, sexual tension and drugs that every real band had at the time.

What i was fearing is the "contemporary" touch of Daisy being a champion of feminist independence and the introduction of the African-American lesbian character, which I'm sure will take up way too much time in the show, even if her role is the token politically correct, force-fed, patronising presence of which no show can do without.
