Snd is teaming up with Easy Riders Films to develop a premium limited series loosely based on “The Family,” Suzanne Privat’s best-selling investigative book on a French cult which has existed for more than 200 years.
“The Family” is penned by rising French screenwriter Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat, whose recent credits include “Nona and Her Daughters,” as well as the Amazon Original show “Mixte.” She led the writing team for season 2 of “In Treatment.”
Set in Paris’s underworld, the thriller series will shed right on the rites and customs of this enigmatic religious sect from diverse perspectives, focusing on the experiences of those inside and outside the community. The book, whose French title is “La Famille, itinéraires d’un secret,” was published by Les Avrils editions in 2021.

Amazon Prime Video has ordered its next French series original, “Darknet-sur-Mer,” (“On the Darknet”) a crime comedy series produced by Noor Sadar’s White Lion Films, a Mediawan Group company.
The six-episode series, directed by Remy Four and Julien War (“On The Other Side of the Tracks”), has just started filming in the Charente Maritime region of Southwest France. “Darknet-sur-Mer” is the first scripted program to be supported by the Selective Platforms Fund recently launched by the National Film Board for content backed by streamers.
“On the Darknet” revolves around a mysterious website named Vrasesin which offers services from contract killers and turns out to be a scam created by Ben and Flo, two amateur hackers who live in a quiet fishing resort at Ponet-sur-Mer. But Ben and Flo’s enterprise soon get them in trouble with Alkan, an Albanian criminal who is searching for a contract killer to assassinate the chief of a gang.

Asacha Media Group, the Paris-based company launched in April 2020 by veteran media entrepreneurs, has acquired the French scripted production group Kabo Family. The outfit regroups 10 banners with credits including the long-running hit daily show “Scenes de Menages” and the Amazon Prime’s original series “Mixte.”
Asacha Media Group was co-founded by media entrepreneurs Gaspard de Chavagnac and Marina Williams, who lead the group as co-CEOs, and Marc-Antoine d’Halluin, who is vice chairman of the supervisory board.
The deal for Kabo Family marks the Asacha Media Group’s sixth acquisition since bowing 16 months ago with the backing of funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP.
