Exclusive: Cyle Zezo, who oversaw alternative programming at The CW, is leaving the broadcaster.
Zezo, who was VP, and Head of Alternative and Digital Programming, is leaving after having spent nine years at the network.
His departure was somewhat expected after former NBCUniversal exec Heather Olander was hired to head up the CW’s push into non-scripted programming. Zezo is expected to move into production.
“Cyle is following his passion to be a producer,” a spokeswoman for The CW told Deadline. “He will continue to executive produce many unscripted shows for The CW and we look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Before The CW was acquired by Nexstar and brought in former Pop TV chief Brad Schwartz as President of Entertainment, Zezo worked closely with Gaye Hirsch, who was EVP Development and left as part of a round of layoffs in February.

NBC’s “Dateline” battled it out with Fox’s WWE “Friday Night Smackdown” for the ratings championship belt on Friday night. While Fox, unsurprisingly, scored in the key 18-49 demographic, it was NBC that took home the highest average total viewership with an average of 2.5 million.
The latest WWE matchup fought its way to a 0.5 demo rating and 2.2 million total viewers, which is the second-largest audience for the brand since July of this year. It comes on the heels of last week, when “Smackdown” drew its largest total audience in a year with 2.4 million tuning in.
ABC’s latest episode of “Shark Tank” also caught viewers’ eye, managing to also secure 2.5 million total viewers. However, the network’s average was pulled down slightly by the 2.3 million that stuck around for a new episode of “20/20,” meaning that ABC came in second for average total viewers.

Killer Camp, The CW’s adaptation of the British non-scripted format, has been pulled from the youth-skewing network after only two episodes.
The series, which sees a group of 13 campers navigate their way through twists and surprises while competing to expose a ‘killer’ among them in return for a cash prize, premiered on Sunday October 10.
The second episode aired on Sunday October 18 but it has been subsequently replaced by repeats of Dean Cain-hosted Masters of Illusion going forward.
The first episode of the season launched with 155,00 viewers and a 0.05 in the 18-49 demo, while the second episode got 164,000 viewers and a 0.03 in the demo.
Sources tell Deadline that the show is likely to return to the linear schedule at some point.

Another week, another Sunday victory for NBC as its Sunday Night Football matchup featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks drew primetime’s top numbers. The game, which the Steelers won 23-20, scored a 3.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 13.12 million viewers in pre-adjusted Nielsen fast affiliates.
As with all major live events, numbers are set to be adjusted at a later time, but in early data the Steelers-Seahawks was no match for the Buffalo Bills-Kansas City Chiefs showing last week. NBC said last Sunday’s game brought in a total audience delivery of 18.4 million viewers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers-New England Patriots showdown earlier this month remains the second most-watched Sunday football game ever.
In non-sports-related Sunday primetime, CBS’ Sunday slate was decently delayed thanks to regional coverage of NFL games. That said, CBS said 60 Minutes (9.85M) was the most-watched non-sports primetime title.

It was a good night for CBS, pending adjustments due to NFL overrun in some markets.
The Equalizer Season 2 Episode 1 drew 7.5 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the fast affiliate results.
While these are down from the Super Bowl-fueled launch last season, the numbers are on par with what the show did in its regularly scheduled installments.
The show is off to an excellent start if the numbers hold up.
NCIS: Los Angeles returned at 5.9 million and a 0.6 rating in the demo -- also on par with last season's averages.
Seal Team, which is headed for Paramount+ in a few weeks, managed 3.9 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
The CW's Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot launched at an anemic 280,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating.

The CW brought the slasher genre to life last year when it aired "Killer Camp." The reality competition series that was originally produced in the U.K. was imported by the network to help fill gaps in its programming schedule. These gaps were created, in part, by production delays resulting from the pandemic, but The CW turned lemons into lemonade. After airing the original series last summer, they opted to produce an American remake, which will hit the airwaves this fall. More slasher goodness through the lens of reality television is coming our way.

With about one week left in August 2020, we wanted to determine which broadcast TV series have benefited the most with one week of (mostly) DVR viewing this summer. The answer, though not the reasons, will likely surprise you. The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico” has seen the largest lifts, on a percentage basis, of any primetime show from May 21, 2020 to Aug. 8, 2020. As a matter of fact, over seven days of delayed viewing, “Roswell, New Mexico” tripled its “live” ratings among adults 18-49, soaring +200%, according to Nielsen. In terms of total viewers, the “Roswell” growth is also No. 1 among all primetime shows across CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC and The CW, with a +86% lift from its Live + Same Day numbers. CBS’ Big Brother topped primetime Thursday, scoring a 1.0 ratings in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.06 million viewers on a night that also saw the season finales of CBS’ game show Don’t and the CW competition series Killer Camp.
Big Brother, which offered up the season’s first eviction last night, saw its rating dip a tenth from its Wednesday airing, but it was steady with its Season 22 premiere result last week.
ABC’s fresh episodes of its game show trio gave the network the nightly win in both ratings and viewers, paced by Holey Moley, up a tenth, and the freshman-season finale of Don’t and To Tell the Truth, both even with last week.
Univision’s night was taken up by the youth awards show Premios Juventud 2020, which tied the Spanish-language network with CBS for second in the demo among the broadcasters.

“Big Brother” aired its first Thursday episode of the year, which coincided with the first eviction of season 22.
Last night’s episode, which saw Keesha Smith evicted on a crushing 13-0 vote, topped the TV ratings table with a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 and around 4.1 million total viewers. That’s pretty much even with its two Wednesday episodes of the season, and up over 1 million viewers from the first Sunday episode. The rest of CBS’ lineup consisted of replays, with “Young Sheldon” leading the way at a 0.4 rating and 2.6 million viewers. “The Unicorn” and “Bull” both scored a 0.3 and around 2 million viewers each.
ABC managed to snag an overall win on the night, thanks in no small part to “Holey Moley,” which carded a birdie 0.6 rating (up from a 0.5 last time around) and 3.3 million pairs of eyeballs. An episode of “To Tell the Truth” delivered the same rating and just over 3 million viewers.

Anthony Anderson’s game show “To Tell the Truth” hit a three-week high and led ABC to a Thursday night ratings win.
The show scored a 0.6 rating among adults 18-49, up from a 0.5 last week, and just under 3 million total viewers. The Disney-owned network’s two other game shows, “Holey Mole” and “Don’t,” both scored a 0.5. “Holey Moley” drew a crowd of 3 million viewers, on par with last episode, while the Ryan Reynolds brain child drew 2.4 million pairs of eyeballs.
Fox ended up in a three-way tie for second on the night with NBC and Univision, thanks to its coverage of the Mlb match up between the Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals. The game, which ended in a massive 13-2 blow out win for the Royals, scored a 0.4 rating and averaged 1.6 million viewers for Fox.

One task that “Taskmaster” couldn’t quite, erm, master is making it beyond a single episode on the CW.
The U.K. panel game show has been dumped from the network’s Sunday schedule after it premiered to terrible numbers last weekend. Sources with knowledge of the situation say the network is in discussions with the show’s producers and is evaluating its options, one of which could be to move the series to its CW Seed streaming service.
Hosted by comedian Greg Davies and creator Alex Horne (who act as the titular taskmaster and the taskmaster’s assistant respectively), the show debuted to a 0.1 rating among adults 18-49 and only 212,000 viewers. While a 0.1 isn’t necessarily a disastrous number in comparison with CW’s other summer fare, that total viewership figure is one of the lowest CW has managed in what is a cold summer for broadcast TV ratings overall.

“Holey Moley” continued to card a solid round of golf, or ratings, leading ABC to a Thursday night win alongside Univision.
The mini golf competition series hit the fairway with a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and just under 3 million viewers, on par with last episode ratings-wise, but down around 15% in terms of total audience. A new episode of “To Tell the Truth” also scored a 0.5 rating and 2.9 million viewers, which represents a 25% rating up tick from the previous edition. Ryan Reynolds and Adam Scott’s game show “Don’t” sandwiched the two with a 0.4 rating and 2.3 million viewers.
Both ABC and Univision averaged a 0.5 rating across the night, with the Spanish language network producing two shows which matched “Holey Moley,” namely “Te Doy La Vida” and “Como Tu No Hay Dos.” The former drew 1.8 million viewers, the latter 1.5 million. An episode of “Medicos” scored a 0.4 rating.

NBC’s Blindspot wrapped up its storyline for its fifth and final season Thursday, with the series finale matching a season-best 0.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 1.70 million viewers.
The episode, the 11th of the season, was shot and completed just before the Covid-19 shutdown of film and TV production. Last night’s finale that revealed the fate of Jaimie Alexander’s Jane Doe also grew a tenth over last week’s penultimate episode, making it on par with last year’s season-ender.
The mystery drama was one of only three originals on the Big 4 and the CW last night, joined by the season finale of Fox’s Celebrity Watch Party, steady in the demo with last week and ticking up in viewers, and CW’s Killer Camp, even and slightly off in viewers compared with its premiere last week.

“Blindspot” aired the final episode of its impressive five-season run last night to unspectacular numbers. Fox’s “Celebrity Watch Party” also failed it impress with its finale.
The last ever edition of “Blindspot” scored a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, which does represent a slight tick up from the penultimate episode. However, only 1.7 million viewers tuned in to see how Sullivan Stapleton and company’s story would end, which is inn fact slightly down in last week, and represents a viewership low for its fifth and final season. Preceding the finale was a replay of “Ellen’s Game of Games,” which scored a 0.4 rating and 2.7 million viewers. A “Law & Order: Svu” replay closed off the night for NBC with a 0.2 rating and 1.8 million viewers.
Meanwhile on Fox, the season 1 curtain call for “Celebrity Watch Party” came in at a 0.3 rating and 1.4 million total viewers, which is almost exactly even on the previous episode on both metrics.

Canadian comedian, Bobby Mair, has been cracking jokes for as long as he can remember. He entered the comedy scene about a decade ago, and he has been doing his thing ever since. In 2017, he landed his first acting role in the show Learn It or Burn It and it became clear that he was a natural in front of the camera. He and his wife also had their relationship documented in the series, Bobby & Harriet Get Married. Summer camp was an important staple in a lot of people’s childhoods. Going away to camp for the summer can be a great way to try new things and meet new people. However, summer camp also has a creepy site that has often been featured in scary movies. In the show, 11 strangers will participate in a classic whodunit mystery where they attempt to figure out who ‘killed’ one of their fellow campers. While the premise may be

Univision’s La Rosa de Guadalupe was Thursday’s top-rated show in primetime among adults 18-49 (Live+Same Day), scoring a 0.6 rating in the demo, along with 1.63 million viewers. It helped the Spanish-language network tie with ABC for the overall win in 18-49 on a night that also included NBC’s 30 Rock special and the season finale of Fox’s Labor of Love.
ABC’s game-show trio all suffered slips last night, with Holey Moley and To Tell the Truth both off a tenth and newcomer Don’t dipping two-tenths after it was last week’s top-rated show.
Univision’s night also included Médicos and a Chivas-Club America soccer game.
NBC aired its one-hour 30 Rock: A One-Time Special, which returned the cast from Tina Fey’s acclaimed sitcom that ran on the network from 2016-2013 to promote the launch of new NBCUniversal streamer Peacock.

NBC aired its hour-long reunion special “episode” on Thursday night to un-spectacular numbers.
The special, which doubled as a lengthy ad for NBCUniversal and its new streaming service, Peacock, averaged a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 and only 2.5 million viewers across its runtime. It’s of course worth nothing that multiple NBC affiliates refused to air the special due to its promotional nature, which likely contributed at least in part to those small numbers, and that the special will probably generate the bulk of its viewership on Peacock when it launches there. The special will also air tonight across a bevy of NBCU networks.
In fact, “30 Rock” was beaten in the 8 p.m. time slot by a new episode of ABC’s “Holey Moley,” which scored a 0.5 rating and 3.4 million total viewers. “Don’t,” the new game show from Ryan Reynolds and Adam Scott, followed that up with the same rating and 2.7 million total viewers.

Tonight, the U.K. reality show Killer Camp is set to make its debut here on U.S. airwaves on the CW at 8:00 pm Est. The setup involves 11 participants showing up for a new show called “Summer Camp,” but when they arrive, they’re in for a huge shock as they are told that the project they’re involved in is actually a horror whodunit where most of them will be “murdered,” and one of them is actually the camp “murderer.”
As someone who doesn’t partake in a lot of reality shows, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Killer Camp, but I really enjoyed how they mix up the formula here, and instead of giving audiences a straight-up competition show, there’s a bit of a dramatic flair going on as well, which I thought was rather refreshing.
