Having recently passed the 60 million subscribers mark, Disney Plus is officially the third-most popular streaming service on the planet behind only Netflix and Amazon Prime, which only becomes a more impressive feat when you consider that the company’s in-house platform is constantly facing criticism for a lack of exciting original content.
They might occasionally dominate the headlines with the likes of The Mandalorian, Hamilton or Beyonce’s Black Is King, but apart from those three major hits, there isn’t exactly a wealth of originality to be found on Disney Plus. Although, that stands to change in the not-too-distant future as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars brands debut a slew of new shows exclusive to the service.

The premiere of Univision’s ¿Quién Es la Máscara? (The Masked Singer) raked in an average of 1.4 million viewers in its 2 1/2-hour debut Sunday. The premiere tied for second overall for the night among the Big 4 networks and the CW in the adults 18-49 demographic, which peaked in the 9 p.m. hour with a 0.4 rating.
The show, which ran from 8-10:30 p.m., is hosted by Omar Chaparro, with Yuri, Carlos Rivera, Consuelo Duval and Adrián Uribe serving as panelists. The singing competition debuted as part of the Spanish-language network’s Domingos en Familia (Family Sundays) block and helped the network beat Fox and the CW overall in viewers for the night.
Univision also finished as Sunday’s top Spanish-language network in all metrics.

With a long weekend now upon us, folks are no doubt going to be seeking out fresh content to dig into and though today – and the next few days – are actually a bit light on new movies and TV shows when it comes to the major streaming services, there’s still some stuff worth checking out.
Of course, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and HBO Max, in particular, just delivered massive drops to their subscribers on the first of the month, with each platform bringing a ton – and we do mean a ton – of new arrivals. So, it’s understandable that July 3rd, 4th and 5th may be a bit on the light side.
But again, there’s enough here that you should find something to satisfy you. And if you don’t, well, like we just said, July 1st brought with it more than enough to keep you busy.
Without further ado,...

The movies and shows releasing on streaming platforms lately have been top-tier. Netflix has been getting huge hits like E.T. the Extraterrestrial and The Silence of the Lambs, Hulu scored wonderful titles like A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and I Am Legend, and Disney Plus has been building and completing its Marvel movie collection. There’s certainly plenty of enrapturing content to watch regardless of what streaming service you regularly use, but Disney’s platform in particular is shaping up to have an exceptional July.
Disney Plus will see 90s classics like The Mighty Ducks and The Big Green arrive on July 3rd, and then subscribers will also be treated to Solo: A Star Wars Story a week later on July 10th. But even with great flicks like those landing, there’s still even more to be excited for in the way of Disney Plus Originals. These upcoming films...

July is shaping up to be an excellent month for every streaming platform. Tons of popular films and shows will be making their way to each service to help mitigate the boredom caused by social distancing, and some of the best of them are coming to Disney Plus on July 3rd. Even better, many of the offerings are classics that will excite those who are seeking out nostalgic experiences.
First of all, any 90s kid is going to be ecstatic to see the arrival of The Big Green and The Mighty Ducks. These two childhood favorites rank among the most popular movies of that decade, and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone around 30-years-old who didn’t watch them as a kid. Both are your typical sports-based films about a failing team who gets a boost from a coach who is willing to push them to be their best,...

Be it Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, or Showtime and Starz, each platform is offering a nice selection of titles this weekend. Admittedly, it’s not the meatiest time for new content that we’ve had, as the last few weeks of any given month tend to slow down a bit for fresh releases, but there’s still enough here worth getting excited about.
So, let’s dive in, shall we?

Despite only launching in November, Disney Plus has already brought in nearly 55 million subscribers, who’ve been enjoying all of their content hailing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Star Wars franchise, Pixar, almost their entire back catalogue of animated films and much, much more.
However, it’s fair to say that when it comes to original material, Disney Plus hasn’t been bringing us very much. Sure, The Mandalorian was a major hit, but apart from that, none of their in-house projects have really stirred up any buzz. Unless, of course, you want to count Artemis Fowl, which has been making waves for all the wrong reasons.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like things will be improving on that front anytime soon, either. The Mouse House has just announced what’s headed our way in July and as you can see below, the list is lacking when it comes to buzzy original titles.
