What is Happening???

Warning: Spoilers
We were so glad to have Billions back we binge watched the first five episodes. After the first one, we noticed it was a little off. By 5 we are like, WTH? Who is writing this now? Super disappointed. Painful to see "Axe" act like such an ass when dealing with his son's school.

Loan shark jumping...
TeaWithHoney23 May 2020
I have loved this show from the outset. Brassy, ballsy characters and writing. The acting has been spectacular, especially Costabile, Giamatti and Lewis. Fact is, I still want to like Billions, but they are making it harder by the episode. This episode was a patchwork of random fillers slammed together to fill a quota. I'm in favor of pulling this series back to six episodes of greatness per season... or of letting it go. A great show that is jumping its own shark.

So sad to see a great show go to waste
lopez-ramiro18 May 2020
Billions is biting its tail, it was already like that in Season 4, but they managed to make it pasable. I don't see that happening this season, the best characters are totally charmless and boring now, and they are all stuck in the same looping conflicts over and over. Axe's new rival seems totally plain, nothing really new and original is happening and dull characters are gaining momentum... so far the worst three episodes of the whole series, and no signs of improving. How sad for what used to be an awesome show.

Weird to see it become so unrealistic
jules-898-60335722 May 2020
Totally lost me with him giving the speech at school. Suddenly this show is betraying the world of values and morals it's established and becoming completely unrealistic. Sad to see the shift in the writing.

Confused about its focus and allegiances
canadude18 May 2020
Terrible episode, completely out of touch with reality, unironically praising unrestrained money grabs and power moves over everything else. The school scene, invoking Darwinist capitalism like it's the 1980s, is repulsive. By the end, you fantasize that the series becomes about Bobby losing all his money and his whole sideshow of employees along with him. What used to be a fun dissection of the ultra-rich and corrupt regulators is now just part of the problem it used to be about.

My first review, the fall of a great show
nickodonnell-8670930 October 2020
I think this episode is where I jump off. The school speech scene was vile. I thought after the season 4 finale that it had it's mojo back. I'm not sure where it went wrong.

Don't forget, like I did, that Axe has kids.
ithinkimright17 May 2020
Bobby's got kids. Forgot about that one. Kids name? Gordie. Haha. Gordie!

I don't understand this show anymore. I think it is a literal group of billionaires using it as a reason to group chat on Sunday nights. With the forced marketing of whatever NYC pizzeria owner or fitness instructor or Chef they are friends with.

But really, if you're going to bring back family, bring back Malin. Love her. Don't need the kids.

Joke

Warning: Spoilers
It feels like the show has new writers or the old writers have run out of believable plots . The entire episode was cringe worthy and trite . The speech at the school was laughable

Season 4 was showing glimpses but as of season 5, this show is officially a soap opera now

I guess this is it then
mrgroom14 March 2021
This was by far the worst and most cringe inducing episode in a long run of bad episodes. This show was done after season 3, but season 5 just doesn't stop to mesmerize me if the authors just got stuck on a bad trip. So much talent wasted on this garbage.

Too much of a narrative cliché
ts-162-35622517 March 2022
The rudeness and lack of empathy shown in Axe' character is becoming increasingly shallow and cliché. The lack of nuances makes it unbearable to watch.
