Surprise! A Bulgarian movie to like.
veselatraykova26 January 2022
NB This will not be a sophisticated review showing a deep understanding of the inner emotions of the main character.

When I first read what is the movie about I thought to myself, oh no, the next movie referring to the Communist times. But actually this is not the main story and the focus is on the simple, calm and good person called Dante. Perfect role of Vlado Penev, who shows the awakening of Dante in a slow and gentle way.

Impressive close-up shots, focus on small details, beautiful Raya (Radina Borshosh).

A time nice spent, left me thinking and with positive feelings, thank you.

A modern expression of Dante's Divine Comedy
victorss-0572920 January 2022
If you consider yourself a fan of Divine Comedy and want to experience Inferno, Purgatory and Heaven you are at the right place!

The movie depicts the story of a man, named Dante, who goes through an existential crisis (Inferno), after that he searches for solutions for the difficulties in his life (Purgatory) and in the very end he implements the knowledge he gathered while walking down his own path of subjective justice (Heaven). Did he reach his Heaven? Or maybe he is constantly ruminating through the circles of the Inferno? The viewers decide for themselves!

Both the characters and the situations in the movie are quite realistic. It is almost like a modern interpretation of Dante's Divine Comedy and this clearly shows that the concepts of Inferno, Purgatory and Heaven are absolutely independent of space and time!

Prepare for a deep, dark trip through the labyrinths of the human soul! Worth watching! Enjoy!

If you have a taste for the unusual, I highly recommend!

This is story about humanity (and inhumanity), trust and hope. A wonderful amalgamation of sumptuous camerawork, composed direction & excellent lead performance. I appreciate that this probably isn't to everyone's taste - but I really enjoyed it.

I think people who are criticizing this film, weren't listening to several key hints. I thought it was a delight :)

Dante's Heaven and the power of forgiveness.
flori-6718817 January 2022
This is one of those movies that makes you think deeply. A delicate film about forgiveness and living despite the past. It's one of those movies where silence says more than words, and the multifaceted truth makes you want to understand the opposite of your point of view.

Now that we inhabit our inner world more than ever, it is easier to realize that no one has promised us happiness at birth. After all, life has to be lived ... and in the best way.

Watch "Dante's Heaven"!

Dimitar Radev, thank you and thank to the whole team!

Skip it.

V. Penev's play leaves a few bright sparks, but altogether it cannot pull the movie from the eternal quagmire of bad projects. The story is bursting with cliches about communist times... And it is also reminiscent of a recent work by one of the top Bulgarian authors. The scriptwriter/director did an awful job.

Not worth more of my time.

Surprising and uplifting

I had no expectations (not a fan of Bulgarian cinema) but the film evokes emotion, speaks to our collective past and present and leaves you on an optimistic note with the will to live and move on that Dante himself found after the turmoil.

Vladimir Penev's performance is superb!

Absolute must see - New Bulgarian cinema
petyamanchorova17 January 2022
This film really touched me. I was impressed with the script and the way the story unfolds. The characters are fascinating and so well written, that you cannot help but follow their every move. Without revealing too much, this is a story of the human spirit. It makes you think about your own life and the choices you make. The cast is superb. You can tell the director had a very clear vison and a message they wanted to put across. Watch it!

A movie about... turning your trauma into a masterpiece
gratsielashtereva1 April 2022
It's been a long time since I've seen such a meaningful Bulgarian movie... I liked the story, I liked the way it was told, I liked the message.

The dynamics were deeply realistic, translating the bodily senses through an engaging journey of genuine empathy for each of the characters.

And the ending... tells the whole theology in just one sentence...

It would have been an omission if I had passed over that title.

Thought-provoking and enticing
malkatatea26 January 2022
A modern, thought-provoking reading of Dante Alighieri's classic "Divine Comedy", this movie isn't for the weak of heart; it deals with real, traumatic issues presented in a delicate way.

Despite its heavy plot, it is nonetheless about forgiveness and leaves the viewers with hope for the future.

I highly recommend it!

Watch it if you appreciate cinema as art
Leonorr823 January 2022
Very well crafted, every moment of it having a meaning, creating a feeling and leaving a message to think about. Good acting and camera, one actually feels how the characters evolve with the story. I'm not the biggest fan of Bulgarian movies as they often put the fall of man in the spotlight. But Dante's Heaven is different - while keeping the story real and truthful,it stays away from darkness and makes the feelings of light and hope prevail.

A remarkable piece of art!
freeeupmivanov18 January 2022
Authentic & deep. Definitely worth watching if you're looking for an intriguing story to reflect on hours after you've seen it. It's something far away from the modern Western & Eastern commercial movie matrix. Excited to see where the director is going with his next movie.

Great Vladimir Penev! And Radina Borshosh... she is a brilliant young actress!

The movie provokes you not only to watch with interest but to think about some basic life questions.

I loved the work that the operators did, great compositions, fantastic usage of light which makes the movie so pleasurable to the eye.
