An episode of "The Simpsons" that showcases the early modern seasons flaws
santifersan23 January 2023
"Homer of Seville" is an episode of "The Simpsons" that highlights the problem that many viewers noticed in the early seasons of the show's new episodes: unrealistic, rushed plots with no credible development. In this episode, it's specially painful to see how the show's writers abuse of the character's status quo and abilities, making him doing something that is not coherent with his personality or skills. Anyone who knows about opera knows that overnight a character, no matter how talented he is, does not become famous or popular, whether he sings lying down, sitting or standing. Today it is not as painful to see because there have been episodes later that are even more alienated from the style of the series that we remember. With my new viewing method, this episode appears as one of the introductory of the series, and it's not as painful to watch.

An Average Episode
e_daneva15 December 2023
Homer of Seville is average episode. I have watched only 3 other Simpsons episodes in this season. Two were kinda bad and one was super good. This is an average episode. I don't think it isn't really bad but it isn't really good. This is an average Simpsons episodes in the hands of Season 17 or 18. I haven't watched enough of this season to know what an average episode is. Homer of Seville was interesting enough, and while it isn't a hidden gem it shouldn't be considered a lackluster. At the beginning it is pretty funny but once the episode keeps going it turns into more of an average episode. I give this a 6.3 out of 10.

A hidden treasure ! Best of Season 19 ?

Homer of seville was a nice surprise, to find a great episode above 8/10 in the later simpsons seasons is a rare thing. But this one was Funny all the way, smart plot. Some great lines and funny Homer moments.

Dont listen the Bad reviews as at all, or the bad rating. Put this episode in Season 3 and its a 8.5/10 IMDb.

People are not fair with later seasons.

Anyway a great one, The simspsons are on fire , After the Amazing movie ! The solid first episode and a great second ! Season 19 here we go.

Not a great episode

'The Simpsons' is a bit more hit/miss than in its heyday, and unfortunately for me this episode is in the latter category.

There's some nice moments, in an episode that sees Homer have unexpected musical ability, but I prefer it when the show doesn't go towards darker humour.

Scraping Rock Bottom...

This may be the most lazily written episode I've ever seen. It just flits from one half-inspired idea to the next. The bit with Placido Domingo is kind of funny.
