What is Impossible...is Possible with God
golenjalight5 March 2022
Powerful testimony! Lives changed in this document.

What seems to be impossible is actually possible by the power of love and compassion that transcends fear and self-preservation. Leaders become vulnerable and are willing to do all what it takes to save lives. If you're not here for these children, then you do not deserve working here.

LOVE
screamingpeacocks19 June 2020
Or more simply put by "Love Goes Public," Leaving Others Very Encouraged- and that's exactly what this film does! Principal Brelinda Sullen breathes life into a hurting school community in the Alabama black belt through the investment of her love, time, and even finances. Love Goes Public is a story of truth and of sacrifice. The documentary serves as a small glimpse into the legacy that Principal Sullen has left on the school, but more importantly on its students. After watching the film I found myself wishing that I could hug her and thank her personally, even though I've never met her. This story is a story deserving to be told and heard.

This documentary was so great in communicating just how powerful one's love and faith can be in touching the lives and hearts of so many students. Principal Sullen is a fierce woman who displays the definition of love every single day. Also the timing of the release is impeccable. I would definitely recommend this fantastic film.

Love Is What Love Does
caldan-6650419 June 2020
Set in Alabama's "Black Belt", LOVE GOES PUBLIC is the story of one public school principal, Brelinda Sullen, who works to make love the heart of all the schools where she is in leadership. Along with Sullen's story, we also get to see the remarkable stories of two of her students (or "babies," as she likes to call them), all three of which work to show us that no story is past potential redemption. Remarkable, touching film.

Worth Every Minute
jbaker-4743219 June 2020
This documentary shows the power love holds in the midst of chaos. It is the journey of two schools under the leadership of one remarkable principal. Before Mrs. Sullen arrived each of these schools had fallen apart. Riddled with sex, drugs and fights but the day she walked in all of that changed. This remarkable story is proof that love has the power to truly change lives. I highly recommend this documentary. It is worth every minute.

Terrific story!
zeidersharrison18 June 2020
This was a nice short documentary exploring a 'forgotten piece' of America, the Alabama black belt. Poor families struggle to survive and their kids struggle in a pretty fallen school system. But miraculously the Lord blessed two high schools in the area with Brelinda Sullen who gives her time, money, and love to students who just need some support. We can see her impact on them and I applaud her and the filmmaking team for bringing this story to light.

The Power of One
djflann18 June 2020
You wouldn't think that gangs, drugs, and violence would plague a small rural school in one of the poorest counties in the country, but that is what the schools of Macon County were dealing with when Principal Brelinda Sullen took over. This film inspires the audience and does an excellent job telling her story. She overcame incredible odds to become an All-American basketball player, leading Tuskegee University to win the national title in women's basketball. She then earned two master's degrees at Auburn University, and worked as a teacher, a counselor, and finally, principal in Macon County schools. She leaned heavily on her faith to guide her in her position, influencing her students and eventually changing the culture at both schools. If you're wondering what to watch this weekend - this is it. Flannagan, a first-time filmmaker, has done an excellent job. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be inspired.

Love Goes Public outlines the story of Brelinda Sullens, a principal who brought hope and change to two failing schools. Her actions are marked by genuine, Christlike love as she brings in campus ministry and mentors students. I urge you to watch this documentary to experience her story and others.

Powerful Leadership
abigailjane-9948419 June 2020
This movie reveals the truths of living as a high school student in the Alabama Black Belt and dealing with not only the challenges of living conditions but the overflow of those challenges in schools. Brelinda Sullen's powerful impact on the learning of the youth at Notasulga and Booker T. Washington High School inspires viewers to lead with love, compassion, and empathy as she encourages her students to believe in themselves as much as she believes in them. Her unwavering advocacy for the students personally effects and changes lives. She is a powerful leader and woman of color, and I am amazed and inspired by her actions that this movie brings to light.
