Kaley Cuoco has signed a new multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, the studio announced on Saturday.
Under the multi-year agreement, the “Big Bang Theory” star’s Yes, Norman Productions will continue to develop ideas for original television projects for broadcast, cable, streaming and digital platforms with the group’s various divisions.
First under the deal will be the hour-long drama “The Flight Attendant,” which Cuoco will star in and produce for WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.
A thriller based on the novel by author Chris Bohjalian, the project will also be produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions, as well as Steve Yockey (“Supernatural”), who will adapt it. Suzanne McCormack of Yes, Norman is co-executive producer.
The deal includes a talent-holding agreement under which Cuoco will continue to appear on screen in studio projects.

Warner Bros. Television Group has committed itself to Kaley Cuoco. The company announced Monday that it has set an exclusive, multi-year production overall deal, aka a pod deal, with its former “Big Bang Theory” star.
The two had already been collaborating on her new upcoming series, “The Flight Attendant,” based on the novel by Chris Bohjalian. But under the terms of the new pod deal, the one-hour thriller, which Cuoco will produce and star in, will go to the upcoming WarnerMedia direct-to-consumer service, which includes its new streaming platform that will launch sometime later this year.
Cuoco will play flight attendant Cassandra Bowden, who wakes with a raging hangover next to a dead body in a Dubai hotel. Confused about what may have happened, she continues with her job and takes a flight to New York, where she’s met by FBI agents who are very curious about her activities overseas.

Of all the voices in horror that have sprung up in the 2000s, Edward “Lucky” McKee is probably my favorite. His films are so uniquely his own in the way that they combine strong character work, dreamlike visuals, dark humor, pop music, and a specific attention to female protagonists and relationships; it’s an alchemy that’s hard to pinpoint, but which has a direct line to my brain and affects me in the way no one else’s work does. Both May and The Woman are, in my opinion, two of the best horror movies of the last 20 years and films no one else could have made. The same can be said of “Sick Girl,” his entry for Season 1 of Masters of Horror. While he’s the greenest of all the Masters thus far, his episode is also the purest extension of an authorial voice in the whole series.

A group of nine female friends came to Amy Silverstein’s side while she awaited her second heart transplant at age 50, more than two decades after her first. As Silverstein describes in her new memoir, My Glory Was I Had Such Friends, their friendship is the reason she is alive today.
“I had the opportunity to see what friendship is like at 50 and what friendship is like at 25,” Silverstein tells People. “During my first transplant, I was in the hospital for two months, and almost none of my friends came.”

A bumpy Twin Peaks this week. Surprise horror, painfully drawn out moments, and at least one big revelation: Bobby Briggs seems to be Becky’s father. And at some point Shelly and Bobby were married, as we now know that Shelly’s last name is Briggs (more on the state of that marriage in a moment). So yes, it would seem that I was wrong last week about Leo being Becky’s father (and perhaps wrong about Becky killing Leo). But I would like to remind you that Shelly is still wearing that mysterious ring on a chain around her...

[Welcome back, readers! With the 2017 Sundance Film Festival beginning this week, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the great midnight movies that have come out of the fest over the years. Click here for more Midnight Memories from Daily Dead!]
It’s unfortunate that when many fans hear the names “Lucky McKee” and “Sundance” mentioned in the same sentence, the first thing that comes to mind is an incident in which an audience member had a total public meltdown after the festival screened McKee’s fourth feature (fifth if you count Red, which he co-directed), The Woman, in 2011. After the movie—an adaptation of a novel of the same name he co-wrote with Jack Ketchum—premiere as part of Sundance’s Midnights program, an irate man stood up and began shouting that the movie was “disgusting” and that it degraded both men and women. The freak-out was caught on video and went viral within the film community, garnering The Woman a reputation as a piece of art so potentially transgressive and shocking that it would warrant such a response even before most people saw the movie.

Horror director Lucky McKee unfortunately remains one of those unknown, peripheral genre names, mostly thanks to a number of compromised or abandoned projects following his formidable 2002 debut, May. Over the past several years, he’s made headlines for 2011’s The Woman (another underrated gem from his filmography), and most recently the co-directed effort All Cheerleaders Die in 2013, an expansion of his 2001 short film, which is more or less the comically inclined romp you’d assume it to be. Prizing complex female characterizations, usually featuring muse Angela Bettis, McKee’s twisted visions, though few and far between, are enjoyable and entertaining, usually enhanced by a bit of subtext. About a decade ago, McKee’s sophomore feature, The Woods, would finally land on DVD in the Us following a limited festival circuit run, treated to a torturous release platform despite featuring several notable cast members. A period piece set amongst an all-girls...

Lucky McKee is a director I have been familiar with since I saw his 2002 film, May, starring horror mainstay Angela Bettis. McKee went on to direct an excellent episode of the short-lived Masters of Horror television show entitled “Sick Girl”, again starring Bettis. It was, however, McKee’s 2011 film, The Woman, that truly hit me between the eyes and sold me on Lucky as a director. A dark, grotesque, macabre film that dealt with female power and the role of the abuser, The Woman cemented McKee as a horror director to watch, which leads us to this review…

The weather might be warming up (finally), but that doesn't mean you can't still get shivers running down your spine courtesy of "The Quiet Ones," a very spooky new horror movie about a professor (played by Jared Harris) who tries to scientifically prove that the supernatural is merely a psychological manifestation and nothing more, utilizing the help of some very plucky, very trusting graduate students from Oxford.
You can imagine how well that goes.
Of course, with the mega-blockbusters of the summer movie season just around the corner (or have they already began? Should we ask Captain America?), do people want a mostly quiet horror movie, with nary a gimmick in sight? Considering how "Oculus" fared a few weeks ago, this is a very viable question. Read on to find out!

10. Poltergeist
Directed by Gil Kenan
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire
USA
Release Date: November 14th
Production recently wrapped on the Poltergeist remake with Gil Kenan (Monster House) in the director’s chair and Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) producing. Little is known as they continue to put the movie together in post-production, but we do have a few details, beginning with the cast which includes Sam Rockwell (Moon), Rosemarie DeWitt and Jared Harris. We are also told that the psychic Angina (played originally by Zelda Rubinstein), isn’t going to be revived for the remake. Instead, they are replacing her character with a team of paranormal experts. Based on a vague plot summary, it sounds like the central plot points of the original movie are intact but other characters are added in, such as Carrigan Burke, a host of a TV show called Haunted House Cleaners, who stands in as the movie’s skeptic.

Title: Jug Face Director: Chad Crawford Kinkle Starring: Lauren Ashley Carter, Larry Fessenden, Sean Young, Daniel Manche, Mathieu Whitman, Sean Bridgers A rising tide of dread and desperation marks “Jug Face,” a low-budget, independent slice of Southern Gothic characterized by a solid technical package. The freshman feature effort of writer-director Chad Crawford Kinkle, this psychologically rooted horror film recalls the movies of Lucky McKee — and with good reason, since the “May” and “Sick Girl” director serves as an executive producer here. The story unfolds in a rural, backwoods community, where moonshine peddled once a month to city folk seems to be the only connection to the outside world. Teenager [ Read More ]

With a title like The Haunting of Whaley House, Asylum Pictures has another imitation product about a real life haunted estate in the works. This studio has built a reputation of creating some way out of the way horror titles. The last one in this particular supernatural genre was Amityville Haunting (2011). In this latest, America's most haunted house in the west coast of America, located in San Diego, gets center stage. Whaley House is reputed to be spooked by many a spirit.
This film stars Stephanie Greco (Chemical Peel, Phoenix Falling) and Graham Denman (Sick Girl, Eyes of the Woods) in the lead roles of Penny and Craig. They get a private tour of the home and get more than they bargained for. Along for the ride are fellow performers, Alex Arleo, Arielle Brachfeld and Carolina Groppa. Think of Topher Grace (That 70's Show, Spiderman 3). Now think of indie horror vet Jeff Dylan Graham (Bloody Bloody Bible Camp). Now imagine if the two were crossed and you would get something, or in this case someone, resembling Kit Williamson. Still, there is something unquestionably unique and different about Kit compared to a lot of the other young hopeful actors who come to La in hopes of making it. In just a short amount of time, Kit Williamson has been featured in a variety of horror film productions including Last Halloween - a romance in the vein of Before Sunrise, but with a horror twist. There's also Opious, which could be described as a cross between The Evil Dead & Ghostbusters, & a role in Elisabeth Fies second feature length film - I Hate L.A. On top of everything, Kit Williamson will be joining the cast of my very own production - Drive-In Massacre as Trey.

Mark Bessenger Hey horror fans. Remember how we've all been complaining about an array of lifeless horror film remakes and bland horror film concepts? So when something comes along that tries to give us something different, something edgy, we should be out there supporting it, right? ....Well Bite Marks starring Windham Beacham, Benjamin Lutz, David Alanson and Stephen Geoffreys, is that film! Bite Marks deals with a truck driver and a gay couple who must fight off a pack of blood thirsty vampires after their truck breaks down in the middle of a lumber yard and it turns out their cargo is a coffin carrying vamps. What makes Bite Marks different is its humor, the way that its characters develop, the merger of horror/comedy/gay indie film, etc. You're probably saying to yourself though "but that's the gay vampire film?". Gay, straight, black, white, low budget, big budget -...

Tremors? Nightbreed? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat? 976-evil? Are all on the list this year. And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.
But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. It’s been awhile since we got a theatrical Lucky McKee film. May was a borderline masterpiece, a rare horror film even Roger Ebert gave four stars to. After a studio mishandling of his The Woods and a fun Masters of Horror episode (in Sick Girl), McKee is back (here ) with The Woman.
The film is playing at Sundance 2011 and below is a video of a guy freaking out after seeing the film. The Woman stars Angela Bettis, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Sean Bridgers and click here for the official site.
Did you hear what he said? “This is not art, this is bullshit, this is degradation to women,” cries Captain Overreaction! The film outta be confiscated, burned! There’s no value is showing this to anyone!” What a pus-i mean, wimp. Something like this, makes me realize why I love being a horror fan, a liberal horror fan.

There are precisely two reasons that a thorough horror fan would still be waiting around for the four-year-old Canadian indie flick Scar: 1. It was presented (and therefore "shot") in 3D -- and that's not something you often see in a low-budget Canadian horror movie. 2. It has Angela Bettis in the lead role, whom we know and love from Toolbox Murders, the Carrie remake, The "Sick Girl" episode of 'Masters of Horror', lots of TV work, and (of course) Lucky Mckee's May -- which I'd still maintain is one of the best horror films of the past ten years. Were it not for those two points, Scar would barely rate above a disinterested blip on the radar of the average horror fan. And...

I’m loving everything director Eben McGarr is doing so far, even if his films are perfect, they’re a blast. He’s made an exploitation sickie in Sick Girl and an ode to Universal horror films from the 1940s in House of the Wolf Man. Now, it’s time for a holiday slasher. Just look at the cool spoof one-sheets he’s made up for Hanukkah (via Bloody-Disgusting):
“Obediah Lazarus is the son of Judah Lazarus, the original Hannukiller. In 1983 Judah terrorized NY for seven nights and was preparing to sacrifice his eight-year-old son, Obediah, on the eighth night. Judah was convinced it was God’s will, like Abraham and Isaac, to sacrifice his only son to God. Luckily for Obediah, police tracked Judah down and stopped the sacrifice, but Judah was gunned down in the process. Warped by hatred with no guidance, Obediah Lazarus becomes a religious extremist,...

In 2002, Mick Garris, director and frequent Stephen King interpreter, began hosting a series of recurring dinners with some friends who also just happened to be renowned horror filmmakers — people like Stuart Gordon, Dario Argento, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Mary Lambert and Lucky McKee, among many others. It was kind of an Algonquin Round Table of Terror, but this rotating group of guests was dubbed the Masters of Horror. A couple of years later, Garris created a series for Showtime called Masters of Horror, featuring hour-long movies made by his horrific dinner companions, one of the best of which is "Sick Girl," Lucky McKee's 2006 entry.

5 new photographs have surfaced from Lucky Mckee’s new film, The Woman. The Woman stars Lucky McKee fav. Angela Bettis (May, Sick Girl), and a filthy Pollyanna McIntosh, and Sean Bridgers. On a related note, the book, The Woman will be released to coincide with the release of the film. Synopsis: “Family man and lawyer Christoper Cleek (Sean Bridgers) must do what he can to protect his family when he comes into contact with a feral woman (Pollyana McIntosh) living in the woods near his isolated country home. Through a series of harrowing encounters Cleek and his family quickly discover there is more to this woman than anyone would suspect and that sometimes the devil wears a handsome face. Angela Bettis seemed poised to takeover the horror genre at the start of this decade. She broke onto the scene in 2002 with Lucky McKee's May then followed it up with the Carrie TV movie, Tobe Hooper's Toolbox Murders and surprised us by going full lesbian with Misty Mundae on the Masters of Horror episode Sick Girl. And now she is back, teaming up with Lucky McKee for The Women.

Never go full retard, as they say. But how about completely wild, raised by a savage tribe and basically an animal? As long as she doesn't speak in some freaky Nell language (like some of our own 'jibettes) I'm willing to give feral a chance. Below are new images from Lucky McKee's (Red, "Sick Girl") The Woman, about a man (Sean Bridgers, "Deadwood, True Blood, Justified") trying to protect his family from a feral woman (Pollyana McIntosh, Offspring) who lives in the woods near his home. Seems like a decent premise for a horror film, especially when said family man aka stupid, asshole dude wants to trap and tame Nasty Nell aka Woman.
McKee himself says of his film that it will "make you jump, it will make you squirm and for the more sensitive, it might even induce nausea." He also hopes to bring to mind the films...

Angela Bettis is one of the most interesting actresses on the scene today, and I bet most of you don’t even know who she is. It’s okay. I doubt it would hurt her feelings.
Bettis hasn’t exactly crafted a career that guarantees tabloid coverage or paparazzi abuse. On her journey, there have been stops and starts, hits and misses. But that doesn’t appear to bother Bettis. She has set herself apart from those concerns. Much like her best-known movies, she’s independent. She has acted onstage and onscreen next to some of the biggest names in the industry; she’s directed and produced; she’s even worked as an editor as well as a music supervisor. Bettis seems to make her own destiny, with any formal notion of a career taking a backseat to whatever she’s interested in. But it didn’t necessarily start out that way.

The loss of life can be all the more tragic when the reason behind a loved one being taken from us is absolutely senseless. Such is the case with up and coming actor/producer John McGarr.
While his name may not jump out at you right away, we're confident that should he have been allowed just a little more time here, it would have become very familiar -- and in the hearts of horror fans, probably household. John McGarr was just getting started in the horror biz with his brother, Eben, but the duo already had two quality indie features under their belts with both Sick Girl and the upcoming classic horror movie homage House of the Wolf Man.
On March 25th while walking to breakfast during the HorrorHound convention weekend in Indianapolis, at 10:30 am McGarr was struck down by a drunk driver.

Sick Girl is the first feature by Eben McGarr, and the first starring role in a feature for its titular character, Leslie Andrews. Andrews plays Izzy, a girl growing up in a small town in California. She's tasked herself with protecting her younger brother, since her older brother enlisted with the Marines and was shipped out. Unfortunately for almost everyone in the movie, Izzy has some problems. Fortunately for those viewers interested in low budget gore films, Izzy has ways to vent her problems on the world. We start out with a dirty Izzy getting picked up by a school bus. There are some Catholic schools girls and a Sister on the bus as well. It's evident that Izzy doesn't fit in particularly well, both receiving and giving odd looks to the other girls on the bus. Driving behind the bus is the boyfriend of one of the girls, anxiously...

My Way Films' House Of The Wolfman is a new indie not only inspired by the classic Universal Monsters, but shot in the style as well.
Director Eben McGarr (Sick Girl) will be presenting a look at the film at Comic-Con this week, with a special signing featuring star Ron Chaney (grandson of Lon Chaney Jr.) at booth #5413. To celebrate, a trailer has made it's way online courtesy of Bloody-Disgusting, and we've got that along with additional details below the jump!
"Dr. Bela Reinhardt (Chaney) has invited five people to his castle to see which of them will inherit his estate. He has arranged for a competition of sorts, the victor shall be determined through process of... elimination," McGarr tells Bloody-Disgusting. "The film was shot in black and white, 1:33 aspect ratio and is a good old fashioned monster movie that you could bring your kids to.

One of our eagle-eyed readers sent us a heads-up about a new installment in the Wolf Man saga entitled House of the Wolf Man that is being filmed in and around the Los Angeles area with Sick Girl (review here) director Eben McGarr pulling double duty as the film's writer and director and Lon Chaney, Jr.'s grandson, Ron Chaney, starring as the titular character.
Big Bad Wolf pointed us in the direction of Nuke the Fridge, where we learned the following: McGarr has shot the film to look exactly like a movie made in the 1940's era. House of the Wolf Man was filmed in black and white and full frame. [Along with Chaney] the cast includes Dustin Fitzsimons, Jeremie Loncka, Sara Raftery, Cheryl Rodes, Jim Thalman, and John McGarr.

It’s always exciting when there’s another release from Synapse Films to look forward to. Their stuff is consistently high quality, and their catalogue is loaded with hidden gems that other companies wouldn’t normally touch. And while I’m still scarred from watching Let Me Die a Woman, I continue to anticipate each and every release. So it’s with excitement that I talk about their latest disc, Sick Girl.
Synapse urges us to learn just how far some girls will go: Sick Girl tells the tale of teenage girl, Izzy (Leslie Andrews). Izzy is troubled. With her parents nowhere to be found (and perhaps dead) and her older brother off fighting in Iraq, Izzy is left to take care of her younger brother Kevin all by herself. Local biker Barney offers some assistance to Izzy and Kevin - but he can’t provide any help when it comes to Izzy’s issues…...

Don May Jr. of Synapse Films got in touch with a big update on what the genre-centric DVD company has in store for the rest of 2009, and gave Fango the first look at the cover art for its upcoming Sick Girl disc (see it below). The biggest announcement is a new edition of the slasher sequel Stepfather 2, in which Terry O’Quinn (pictured) reprised his role as the ultimate bad dad.
“We’re releasing Stepfather 2 on September 29 to tie in with the remake of the original scheduled for October,” May tells us, “so we’re putting that one on the fast track. We’re big fans of the movie, and we jumped at the chance to get it. We will be porting over all the supplements from the previous disc,” released by Miramax in 2003, and since discontinued; these bonuses include an audio commentary by director Jeff Burr and producer Darin Scott.

Rating: 6.5 or 8 out of 10 (depending on my mood)
First, I want to make something clear. Today I gave this film a 6.5. I can, however, easily see myself giving this film an eight. I’m fine with that, because it makes sense. Sick Girl is a good film, with some really disturbing imagery and great acting by the lead. It is also, ironically, a very pleasing film to watch, that is, in between the scenes where our leading lady wreaks torturous havoc on the moving flesh of the world. During those scenes Sick Girl is not a nice film to watch. I predict, just as the themes and beauty in this film are disparate, so too will this film polarize its audience. That is why I am coolly hovering somewhere near the...

Though they may take a very, very long time to get the films out there, you really can’t deny that it’s more than worth the wait for anything Synapse Films does these days. Their years-in-the-making DVD of Home Sick is the latest example, and recently president Don May, Jr. talked about two more upcoming releases that I’m sure will prove my point.

Fango just chatted with Don May Jr. of Synapse Films, who talked up his upcoming discs of the new indie shockers Sick Girl (pictured) and Header. The former (no relation to Lucky McKee’s same-titled Masters Of Horror episode) is a truly twisted tale from writer/director Eben McGarr.
Leslie Andrews stars in the title role of Izzy, an orphaned girl who takes an extremely violent approach to protecting her younger brother; you can see the movie’s official website here. “It’s just a brutal, brutal movie,” May tells Fango. “It’s funny, too; the filmmakers have a really good sense of humor—and hey, it’s got Stephen [Fright Night] Geoffreys in it!” The extras are currently being put together for Sick Girl, and while it’s too early to report those details, May notes that Synapse will likely use the striking promo photo seen here on the DVD’s cover.

It’s odd; I have had a copy of Sick Girl in my hands since it got such a good reaction at the last Fear Fest, but I’ve yet to actually sit down with it yet. My plan was to do so tonight, which may have inspired the good news Twitch learned today.
Synapse Films has jumped on board to distribute Eben McGarr’s Sick Girl to the DVD market sometime next year. For those unsure, the film is the story of a girl that wants to fuck her older brother, protect her younger brother, and torture everyone else out in her barn. Can’t get much simpler (or more fucked up) than that!
We’re not sure yet when the film will be out, but keep your eyes here and on the official Sick Girl site for updates! For now enjoy a trailer and hi-larious PSA below!

Both the teaser and “Don’t Talk” public service announcement for Eben McGarr’s berserk independent horror film Sick Girl have been floating around the Internet for a while. It is time, however, to highlight these videos again. Why? First, the film’s teaser has a theme that sets the right tone for the holidays (at least in more dysfunctional households). Second, Sick Girl is being released on DVD by Synapse Films, thus giving extreme horror enthusiasts something to look forward to in 2009. The videos, neither of which are safe for work, await beneath the fold. You have been warned.

Sick Girl is a black comedy about a girl who wants to sleep with her older brother, protect her little brother, and torture people in the barn, Yeah! This really looks like a winner, sort of like the Juno antichrist. There's really not much more to say but check out the trailer and teaser after the break, you won't be disappointed.
