- A touching politically incorrect comedy and a triumph of happiness over human mediocrity. Starring Pierre RICHARD, Sylvie TESTUD and Remy GIRARD.
- Pierre Martin teaches quantum physics at the renowned Sorbonne University in Paris. He has a daughter, Sylvie, who lives with him. One day Pierre learns that he has inherited an inn from an aunt. The trouble is that the establishment is located amid the snows of a small village in Québec. Nobody would have bet on it but Pierre decides to leave his job, to fly to Sainte-Simone-du-Nord and operate the inn. As for Sylvie, she follows her father there despite his reluctance. Unfortunately for both Michel Dolbec, the apparently friendly mayor, secretly covets the inn and is prepared to do everything to make their lives a misery.—Guy Bellinger
- At 65, Pierre MARTIN (played by Pierre RICHARD), quantum physicist, inherits an inn in Canada. He leaves Paris with his daughter Catherine (Sylvie TESTUD) and ends up in the dead of winter in Sainte-Simone-du-Nord, a typical tiny village in the Saguenay, a remote region of Québec. Away from Parisian life, Pierre sees an opportunity to pass on to his daughter the quality he values most: happiness.
