Sally (Diane Ladd; quite cherubic in this particular episode; it's hard to believe this is the same woman who portrayed such an fugly witch in David Lynch's Wild at Heart) sits at dying blind Lenny's (Antony Holland; who seems to take forever to pass away) bedside as his deathwatch is on. Through Lenny (a long, dear friend), Sally will learn of someone in the hospital who can help her put a name to Mary's ghost..Peter (Jack Coleman). Paul (Kett Turton) visits convicted killer Rolf Pederson (Jim Shield), commanding him to kill Sally when she enters the room looking for the patient who can inform her of Mary's identity. This episode develops an interesting backstory to the Traffs, Dr. Louis Traff and son Elmer (William Wise and Jamie Harrold) in reference to the wife/mother estranged from them, Emma Warburton (Christine Willes), thanks to a pain-medication addiction, winding up in the ER after suffering a heart attack (a home nurse, she thinks her patient is dead, taking cash from his wallet, shocked into a coronary when the geezer pops up fully alive). I didn't mention in previous user comments but Elmer Traff has been participating in sleeping sessions, one such session yielding a bizarre nightmare involving blood oozing from his locker. And as in the past chapters, Elmer can't keep from making passes to Dr. Lona Massingale (Sherry Miller) who continues to tell him that a romance between the two is off limits. Stegman (Bruce Davison) is willing to pay two hecklers—who like to stand outside from a distance and laugh at his expense—money if they will tell him who painted graffiti on his car, putting a dent in the door; once he discovers the ones responsible (they give him a description, but he needs their names) there's no telling what he's liable to do. If anything, this episode establishes a battleground between Paul and those who want to set Mary free from the limbo of Kingdom Hospital so she can go into the light and find peace at long last. As I mentioned in a previous user comment, Rolf's role becomes more frighteningly clear: he's a psycho Paul can use as a weapon, endangering innocents inside Kingdom Hospital, an established threat I imagine will milked for all he's worth in the upcoming, subsequent chapters of this increasingly fascinating fantasy-horror series.
