Music and rhymes
cathy6419 July 2007
A friend turned me on to this DVD as a gift for my nieces. The hardest thing is to find something that will keep a child's attention. I found the colors and music of the animation get the kids attention right off the bat. Then they go from animation to live action. Where we not only meet other kids and what they think shooting stars are but also Dr Iz and his IZ-o-meter with his rhyming expiation of what shooting stars are. My favorite part of this DVD is the extras. One give a more detailed version for older kids with a passion for knowledge about space. Another is a fun music video that give the kids a chance to get up and dance while they learn the Izzatronic dance.

Mystery Of ....Shooting Stars Gets 10 Stars From Me!
Foo-Dog16 July 2007
My 10-year-old daughter and her best friend both watched "Mystery Of The...Shooting Stars" yesterday, and their first comment after it was over was "Are there any more of these?" :-) They loved the artwork (particularly the asteroid with its tongue hanging out of its mouth, and all the planets with silly faces), as well as the Dr. Iz character. As for me, I got a special kick out of the opening sequence - it had a groovy, late-60's/early 70's vibe to it, similar to some of the animation I grew up with! While I already knew what shooting stars actually were, I did learn something new about how and why stars twinkle. Cute *and* informative. There's something for everyone in this first offering from Mighty Mojo Studios and I highly recommend it.

educational "The Mystery of Shooting Stars"
dtruthiness29 June 2007
We love love love animation but I am sorry to say that there is little education value in this video. We purchased it and hoped it would be better, but it failed to educate our children about shooting stars. The animation was charming enough but very short and sometimes we didn't understand. The real children seemed like they were acting instead of listening and learning from the teachers. This is more of a caution to families looking for better animated educational videos. Videos like Disneys Einstiens is a much better value at teaching children and they seem to know how to better make it fun to learn. We read that this is a new series so maybe the next videos in this series will be better. sorry. Pass.

educational video

Saw this video promoted on CBS morning show last week. I searched the internet and ordered it through its producer Fogware. Seems that the folks at CBS never saw this poorly directed video. OK, so heres my good bad and ugly about this educational video. First I think that the approach this director and writer has taken was confusing. The good news is that there are some inspired animations and a few of the animated scenes are indeed charming. But they are few and far between. As a simple educational tool this video falls very short of even beginning to explain any mysteries of shooting stars! Perhaps the writer should have studied other educational videos or simply watched a few Bill Nye the science guy shows. The head of this little studio claims they will have a feature film in release in five years, which should be long enough to have learned from this mistake! Good animation, Bad story and ugly direction!
