It's been a while...

But Ryan Murphy finally made a good season again. Maybe it's because I'm from the 80's and that the music was great. The ending was exactly how it should be.

Very good overall

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode. I loved the bringing Jingles son into it concept, I didn't expect it and at first was bummed that he was the main concept of the episode but as it went on I thoroughly enjoyed it. I do wish there was a speck more of to the other previous seasons but that's not what's most important, it's the story line of the current season. It had a happy ending, a cool concept of the ghosts living forever at the camp. The ghosts had a very throwback "lord of flies" vibe to their group which was cool. I was a bit bummed with the Ricky Ramirez concept however, they rarely touched on his connection to hotel and when he was originally brought in I and I assume every other viewer assumed at some point they would have made his hotel connection, and I'm confused on the continuity of how he ended up at hotel Cortez if he is stuck at camp redwood until 2019. I know he's a devil lap dancer and maybe he can be in two places at once, and on Halloween spirits can do things they usually can't so maybe on Halloween each night he left camp redwood and could attend the Cortez. That's my best bet for the writers not clarifying it. Overall great finale.

A few issues
Drank2214 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wasn't a bad finale though I wouldn't say it was very good either. Can't help but feel this episode is what you call an 'anticlimax'. For a couple episodes now they've been building up all kinds of revenge and a huge amount of murders happening at this festival, but instead we get all of that in some goofy flashbacks.... The festival doesn't even happen and the only people to die this episode are Margaret (which was awesome and gruesome), the comic relief character of Leslie Jordan, Trevor, and I guess Richard Ramirez... Even the revenge plot of Brooke / Donna was shown for maybe a whole 10 seconds? They spent 2 episodes plotting their revenge and the best they do is hide behind some doors and......I don't know... it just felt odd. In some instances the flash forward worked to tell the history of what happens, but again I would have much liked to not have seen the whole plot of what everything we have been building towards this seasons told in a few scattered flashback scenes.....

Also, if we're to believe that this season is canon to the 'rules' established over the years of AHS, then why couldn't any of the ghosts leave the property. This episode takes place on Halloween, and We have learned in several seasons that the dead can walk free on Halloween. Maybe they just never tried to leave as they didn't know? But it just seems odd that we'd have ghosts trapped to the location and have the specific date that we've established releases then from the land, yet the rule never seems to get applied. And also the hiker Jonas didn't die on the property, but was a ghost, but then was brought to the property and is now trapped there? Um?

Richard Ramirez I'm sure everyone knows was a real person who died in jail in 2013 and also appeared in season 5 'hotel' as a Dinner guest (Who is able to walk freely on Halloween :\). Since it's been established that this season is connected to every other season, that also doesn't make sense canonically. Since 'young' rameirz has been trapped in Camp Redwood since 1989 and actually doesn't die. Which also doesn't make much sense as what is his purpose exactly? Why is Satan bringing him back all these times? Yet, let's the Antichrist get run over by a car..... Idk. If they weren't so eager to make the seasons connected then easily these problems could subside, but the creators decided to do that, and now it doesn't make any sense.

Yet, again this episode wasn't bad. Wasn't what I was expecting, that's for sure. Nice to see Finn Wittrock back. And in some way I guess you could say it got wrapped up nicely.... at least for the Jingles Family, Brooke, and Donna. The rest are trapped for eternity with story arcs that I guess didn't really matter as they mostly all became background characters these last episodes and never got any sort of redemption/meaning besides maybe Montana Dylan McDermott's character also proved further how unnecessary that character was.... Should have just finished that Arc after Brooke cut off his thumbs.

I realize a lot of this is negative, but I guess I'm just mad at the Halloween and Richard thing...

Overall this season was good. I enjoyed every episode. It was a fun ride, that mostly paid off. I'm sure I'll grow to like it more on rewatch..... Or less. I find the best way to judge a season of TV is based on your ability to rewatch it and enjoy it a second time around... so we'll see. This definitely is not in my top 3 seasons, or even top 5, but doesn't mean it was bad. Just not as good as what we've already been served.

Honestly...
sewellsthename14 November 2019
I was super scared there was going to be some surprise twist-y ending in this season finale BUT this was such an emotive episode full of needed resolutions. It surpassed expectations. I truly love this season. It ran the Ryan Murphian gamut of highs and lows.

Warning: Spoilers
I was nervous when they flash forwarded to 2019 so fast because I knew that meant the story was rushed for a finale once again, but it was actually good for this finale. One thing I didn't like was no Billy Idol. Insanely gruesome deaths this episode too.

Just Amazing!!

Warning: Spoilers
This was by far the happiest end an American Horror Story season has gotten and was also one of the better finales as well! This truly marks this season as one of the best in so many ways. The 80s slasher vibes came back in full force and this season also had really good comedy. The only negative is that Ramirez supposedly was stuck at Redwood since 1989, but showed up in Hotel in 2013 as a ghost. So I have no clue if season 10 will explain more of that or if it was just a mistake, which I doubt.

Am I dreaming? Or is this the first awesome ending?

Warning: Spoilers
American Horror Story is my favorite tv show ever but in my opinion never had an excellent season finale. Some of them are nice but not incredible and other finales are completely horrible. I must confess I felt surprised with each second of this episode and now everything makes sense (except Ramirez being alive in this timeline and dead in the timeline of AHS: Hotel). Like I wrote, every scene was perfect, even the final girl twist was clever and the last scene of Jingles's family is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen in AHS. This season is not the best for me but is one of the best.

Thank you Ryan Murphy! Finally you created a good ending.

One of, if not, the best season finales

A messy ending
jpismyname15 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I'll just start with the positives. The cinematography/set is beautiful. Acting is great as always. I feel so happy for Donna and Brooke's fate.

This episode is kind of a mess, however. I actually like the happy ending, but there are just some obvious plot holes. Like, why is Ramirez stuck in the 80s when he is in Hotel? Hope they explain it. And there's a few more plot holes you'll notice. Dialogues also felt forced. This episode is good, but just not as amazing as the first few episodes.

Best Finale Since Freak Show

Loved it. It was satisfying conclusion. I think everything got wrapped up perfectly except for the continuity issue with Ramirez and Hotel. It had a really touching ending. Margaret's and Richard's death was just really satisfying. I would say this is my fourth favourite season.

The season finale is both entertaining and disappointing
gridoon202427 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This whole season has been a crazy ride, as the promised homage to 1980s slasher movies gradually mutated into a supernatural black comedy. The fact that any character could get killed and then come right back to life in Camp Redwood certainly dissipated much of the suspense; no one was safe but, in a way, almost everyone was. Fun performances, lots of surprises, a fair amount of gore....but if you actually want to see a slasher horror series, "Slasher" is the way to go. *** out of 4.

I don't understand the 10 star reviews
falcondj16 November 2019
Not to spoil anything but this season really feels like they made up every scene on the fly. This happens, then this, and oh let's add this twist we just now thought of, and so on. Then this ending happened and I know they had to have come up with it sitting on a toilet during break. The entire season was entertaining enough for a 5 star review, but that's all I can give the show, and I think every episode outside the pilot, which was good, averages about a 5/10, so there ya go.

Final Girl- Best episode
btdavis-3115214 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was very emotional and scary ass hell. Emma Robert is 1 of my favorite actresses and I'm glad she survived the series for the first time. Finally a black person to survive the series and it's very rare to see that happen and I'm glad a black person did survive, thank AHS for doing that.

HOLY ****... an AHS happy ending! (Well, for this show.)
Joseph-Molion14 November 2019
Beautiful conclusion to a very satisfying season of AHS. I don't know how these guys keep the concept fresh each season, but so far so good. I haven't genuinely not liked a single season so far.

No spoilers, but I will say this: Those who deserved their happy ending, basically got it.

Incredible!
judinazena15 November 2019
I honestly thought this season is gonna be like a "slasher movie" all the way to the end. Somehow, it was. But it gives you so much more than a simple slasher movie. It gives you family, love, hate, rage, jealousy...it gives you life. Forget about "final girl". They are all "final", they are all "the last". Just incredible performance from ALL the actors. I thought Sarah Paulson's and Evan Peters's absence will be noticeable, but it actually wasn't.

Seriosuly, amazing cast, amazing acting and amazing writing. Story is told from beginning to the end. No unsolved things. Clear as a day. This last episode was hart-melting. I was watching this alone, but cheered and yelled like I was with a group of people.

P.S. I waited until last episode was released, and than I watched all of them. Jesus, these 9 episodes went faster than a fat kid towards an ice cream! It just felst like one long movie, but time flew by. I just couldn't stop watching. 10/10 from me. XOXO

Probably the best AHS finale
fbuff-9720414 November 2019
Ryan Murphy is known for dropping the ball when it comes to endings...but WOW did the kill it this time around. This episode was fantastic. It was gory, scary, yet nostalgic and full of hope. This episode filled me with a sense of happiness and hope for the future. It was so good. Perfect ending, to an amazing season. Upset that its over

Finally, a good season.
bthaissa14 November 2019
I've been following this show since it first aired without skipping a year but I haven't been able to fully enjoy a season since Roanoke. Apocalypse was a let down so I went in with very low expectations this time around and ended up being entertained through all of it, especially in this final episode. I loved everything about the theme and how they pay homage to some 70/80's slasher classics. Not to mention how much attention was put on the colors, hair, music, clothes, etc. I still think some characters could've been better developed and a few plot points explored/explained further but overall it was a satisfying and very entertaining story. One that I'll absolutely be revisiting on my annual rewatches.

Before this season I couldn't see the show going for much longer but 1984 was so refreshing it feels like a new start. So who knows, maybe AHS will remain a great stage to introduce new talent and tell entertaining stories while keeping the horror gender alive in the next decade too.

Final Girl
bobcobb30114 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show had to balance giving us a meaningful finale while still playing up on the 80's trope, which we saw in the final moments.

Focusing on Bobby was ambitious, but probably the wrong move. And while we did get one satisfying death, overall it didn't feel like anyone came out of this show a "winner" which is why you watch TV in the first place.

The 80's Will Never Die
wandernn1-81-68327421 August 2021
Yeah!! Start out with Some I RAN!!! Flock of Seagulls!!! +1 Star.

Okay the scene where Trevor was crawling back to Camp Redwood was stupid. If Trevor could be outside Camp REdwood than so could Brooke. -1 Star.

Oh yeah they put Margaret in a Woodchipper!!!! +1 Star.

Okay the scene at the end was nice. A little touching moment set to Mike and the Mechanics. And really seeing John Lynch and Lili Rabe standing together was worth a +1 Star.

Overall, this season finale gets a 7/10.

Impossible task
mennivetvadjagmenar25 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Zach Villa said he got the script 2 weeks before the episode AIRED. WHY do they build up for a festival when they obviously don't have the time to film it? No climax, no age make up on Emma Roberts (playing at least 50-years old).. just like the Asylum the finale is mostly just talking + more new characters/storylines that we're not invested in.

Probably the best season finale yet, and one of the best overall seasons.
jasonklingensmith14 November 2019
Going into this episode, I had no idea how they would attempt to wrap up all of the loose ends. It seemed impossible, and given Ryan Murphy's track record with AHS, I was completely expecting this to be all over the place and make little sense.

What we got, however, was a thorough, and satisfying conclusion to what I'd consider the best AHS season since the original.

I loved the first season, enjoyed the second season, but found it to be a little too "all over the place", with an ending that didn't really tie everything together. Somewhere about halfway through Freakshow the show seemed to get away from intriguing story lines and focus more on pure shock value with little redeeming story quality.

Perhaps I'm a bit biased being a fan of slasher movies of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's, but I thoroughly enjoyed this season from start to finish. And credit to Ryan Murphy for "putting a bow on it", and tying all of the story lines together in the end.
