- Mickey Gavin: [about Maggie] The woman's got problems.
- Sean Garrity: Jeez.
- Mickey Gavin: You know, big, big problems.
- Sean Garrity: Yeah.
- Mickey Gavin: She's been an addict for as far back as I can remember. She needs an intervention.
- Sean Garrity: [agreeing] Yeah.
- [Sean pauses as he considers what he just agreed about]
- Sean Garrity: Yeah, uh, what is that, exactly?
- Mickey Gavin: An intervention is, well... We sit her down in a room full of people that love her.
- Sean Garrity: Okay.
- Mickey Gavin: Everybody goes around the room and, you know, starts to share with her how much her addiction has affected them negatively.
- Sean Garrity: Oh, okay. So I assume this goes on for, like, a couple of days.
- Mickey Gavin: Well, you know, I'd ask that you edit yourself a little. You know, just try and pick out the worst occurrences.
- Sean Garrity: Okay, yeah. So a few hours, tops.
- Mickey Gavin: Yeah, we'll work on it.
- Sean Garrity: Okay.
- Mickey Gavin: The most important thing is, you gotta tell her how her addiction has hurt you. And then you express your concern for her. Then, at the end, you know, we offer to send her someplace she'd get some real help. But the key is, if she refuses to get help, I mean, you got to be prepared to stop enabling her.
- Sean Garrity: Mm-hm.
- Mickey Gavin: I mean, something's gotta be at stake here. Something you're willing to take away.
- Sean Garrity: Okay. Okay.
- Mickey Gavin: Okay so...
- Sean Garrity: Yeah.
- Mickey Gavin: ...should she refuse...
- Sean Garrity: Mm-hm
- Mickey Gavin: ...what would you be willing to take away?
- Sean Garrity: Uhh... whew. I guess I could stop bring her aspirin, in the morning. You know? When she's hung-over. I'd definitely stop making Manhattans. She's always complaining about how I go too heavy on the sweet vermouth. I mean, come on. I make a great Manhattan.
- Mickey Gavin: Gotta be something a little more substantial than that. You know, would you be willing, say, to not see her anymore? To end the marriage?
- Sean Garrity: [He thinks for a long moment] Yeah, no. I already tried that. That didn't really stick.
- Mickey Gavin: That's cause you probably didn't mean it. See, addicts have a way of knowing just how much they can get away with. You gotta mean it, all right? Can you say it and stick to it?
- Sean Garrity: [He thinks again] No, I don't think I can.
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: [Lou is trying to convince Tommy to date Feinberg's daugher, Beth] Look, it's a career move, Tom. Number one, you're taking out the chief's goddamn daughter, okay? Number two, you're getting my ass out of the fire. Number three, you're winning very valuable brownie points with Lou.
- [Tommy starts moving toward Lou]
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Okay, look, I know I owe you five grand from the Great Lou Depression of last year. You take her out, I'm gonna pay you back seven grand.
- [Tommy says nothing, but only moves closer]
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: You take her out, I'm gonna pay you back 7500 dollars.
- [Still Tommy says nothing but inches forward, backing Lou into the lockers]
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: I'm gonna give you- ah, Christ, Tom, you know I don't have that kind of money. Why don't you say something?
- Tommy Gavin: He asked you first, didn't he?
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: No!
- Tommy Gavin: Yes!
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: No!
- Tommy Gavin: Yes.
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Yes.
- Tommy Gavin: Yeah, yeah. I knew
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Yes.
- Tommy Gavin: Why don't you take her out?
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Because, Christ, Tom, I just got off the goddamn sex express train. You could obviously use a blowjob.
- Tommy Gavin: [intrigued] She gives blowjobs?
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: She's Jewish.
- Tommy Gavin: So?
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Well, we all known that Jew broads give, you know, great blowjobs?
- Tommy Gavin: We do?
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Yeah, it's common knowledge among Jew and Gentile alike. You never dated a Jew broad?
- Tommy Gavin: Well, once in high school, but she was only part Jewish.
- Kenneth 'Lou' Shea: Which part?
- Tommy Gavin: Well, if what you're saying is true, it was obviously not the part from the neck up.
