Seems so unnecessary and peripheral, but that might end up being a good thing.

The MCU is benefitting from having its own live action history now. I particularly like the jumping off point here, namely a new point of view of the 2012 battle of New York. It makes sense that this cataclysmic, world-changing event would shape the life of Kate Bishop. I watched this with little sense of expectation but liked it. Felt like an origins tale and a Christmas hug in one swoop. Well done.

Never Meet Your Heroes
Prismark1025 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Hawkeye for Disney+ has a low stakes opening episode. The central character is Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and not Clint Barton.

Kate was inspired to become an archer after seeing Hawkeye in action when she was a child.

The Battle of New York in 2012 took her father's life and Kate was determined to protect herself. She is even a champion in martial arts.

However the Bishop family were in dire financial straits in 2012. In the present Kate's mother Eleanor (Vera Farmiga) is very well off, she seems to know some important but dodgy people.

Eleanor is even engaged to the rather shady Jack Duquesne who likes to collect swords. I am sure that the source of Eleanor's wealth will be an important plot point.

At an auction there is an attack by some baddies and Kate wears the Ronin uniform that Clint once wore. She tries to take on the baddies and Clint sees the Ronin in action on the television.

The episode ends with Kate meeting her hero.

For Clint the episode is him trying to live a normal family life, he is tired of being a hero. However there are always reminders. The big one being the Steve Rogers musical which was both inspired and funny.

Given how Loki and Wandavision went. This is maybe too traditional and a little bland. Maybe subsequent episodes will have more meat to the bone.

Great start to what looks to be a great show
harry-3451824 November 2021
This episode is not perfect it's slow but the acting, directing and promise for future story sets a strong idea of what's to come. Kate is centre stage this episode in the begging of an exciting murder mystery hailee does a great job in the role and the pizza dog wow.

Meet Kate Bishop
solojere24 November 2021
Out of all the Marel mini-series that have been announced, this was the one I was the most excited for. I love Hailee Steinfeld, and I think she is the perfect person to play Kate Bishop in the MCU. It is also great to see Jeremy Renner get his own story. Vera Farmiga is also a great addition. The show takes place 2 years after Endgame, where Hawkeye is still processing the death of Black Widow. At the same time, Kate is trying to find her place in the world. So far, the show is off to a great start, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

In an excellent TV show a ninja saved a dog
namob-4367325 November 2021
First episode of this show and I could not be happier. Excellent done. Introduction of all players done brilliantly, the Rodgers musical was hilarious, acting great, directing great, perfect writing.

The only negative is perhaps that Kate is jumping around a little bit too much and took a few punches too many to give me a realistic feel. But okey, she is an olympic athlete and she has the suit on so I will assume that protects somewhat. Other than that tiny little objection this was close to fantastic.

Very entertaining first episode greatly done and entertaining, greatly paced and just all the kudos and bravo's.

9/10 and this is the best I have seen from Marvel since AoS last episode. I hope this continues because if so this will be a new favourite of mine. Highly, highly recommend!

IT'S INTERESTING
alcantaraj-1659425 November 2021
The pilot episode of "Hawkeye" has some very cheesy characters (Armand, the mother's fiancee) and awful exposition (from that auction scene) but they aren't enough keep this episode from being interesting.

Who The Hell Are You?
tristan_1924 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost, I have to mention the music. It gives scenes a lot of suspense, and easily sets up the appropriate tones and ambiances. The episode ends on the perfect note with the meeting of Kate and Clint.

We witness here a deep character study, Clint still struggling after Natasha's death, and his time as Ronin. He's just trying to live his live during Christmas time. On the other side, Kate wants to push forward in trying to defend her mother. She is a hero and she starts investigating some threats during the episode. The clash here will be really interesting, I reckon.

Strap on your seatbelt. This episode is merely an introduction, but pretty well handled, if not for the fights who definitely seem a little odd at this point. I don't know if it's due to the poor choreography, or just because the style is different. I would give episode 1 a solid 8.4.

Mediocre
SHU_Movies24 November 2021
It's okay at best. Nothing special here at all, but it's a decent start to the series. Action is not super well choreographed and the script isn't amazing, but Clint is one of the most underappreciated MCU characters so I'm happy to see him finally get his own show! Not a big fan of the unnecessary Christmas theme though.

Perfect INTRODUCTION.
MandalBros-524 November 2021
I always love how MCU writers connect so many things, especially by showing past events through other's perspective.

It was a perfect introduction for Kate Bishop.

Good Start
jfgibson7330 November 2021
I've never liked Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, but I have to admit, he plays it pretty low-key here. Hailey Steinfeld as Kate Bishop is well done also. I was really only looking forward to this series to see if Florence Pugh would be able to make her character more appealing, but the story has me interested now.

Great show I'm sure people will hate
alan-506732 December 2021
It's a great show with Hawkeye being an Avenger and hero despite not wanting to. Hawkeye finds a girl that was saved by him in the Avengers movie battle. She is enthusiastic about helping him stop some mafia goons but he just wants to get home for Christmas.

I want a Kate Bishop for Christmas
Trey_Trebuchet25 November 2021
I was pretty excited for this one, being someone who actually loves Clint Barton AND is a fan of Hailee Steinfeld. This pilot episode is a fairly slow start. It's mostly here to establish its lead characters and where they are in life after the events of the Blip.

I will say that the action and choreography is pretty good so far and Steinfeld is as charming as ever. I'm actually pretty excited to see what they do with Clint's story, and the trauma he must be dealing with after the loss of Nat.

Not great, but a pretty okay opener. It has a lot of potential.

Absurd
robertheduardoperezmachado26 November 2021
The storyline is good, I liked kate's origin, but they didn't show when she got the super soldier serum, because she can take 20 man hits like captain america and dodge bullets like it's nothing. I hated itm I mean, she is just a girl. The rest of the episode is fine.

Plain. Banal. Mediocre. Meh. Bland. Unoriginal.
W011y4m524 November 2021
Whilst I really do appreciate Marvel using the Disney+ streaming service in order to try & flesh out one of its least interesting characters from the Avengers ensemble, Hawkeye's debut here does very little to prove why he should be given anything other than a supporting role & equally fails to justify why he particularly needs a spin-off series in the first place.

That's not to say that this is bad because it's not; today's launch episode's very adequately made, boasts extremely impressive production values & great camera work from cinematographer Eric Steelberg - so on a technical level, is undeniably strong... But none of that negates the feeling of hollow, soulless, corporate superficiality throughout - exacerbated by the fact that the protagonists are all unfathomably wealthy, materialistic consumerists who live gratuitous lifestyles in luxurious apartments most individuals could only dream of residing in. Hence, although it provides the crew with glamorous & visually appealing locations / sets to shoot inside (don't the scenes look aesthetically expensive?), it results in an emotional disconnect because how are "normal", working class folk supposed to relate or invest themselves in the development of such unsympathetic, rich people? Lensing the story through the perspective of the elites & higher classes may resonate with the celebrities / millionaires making this show but does it connect with general audiences? I guess we'll see as things progress.

On the other hand, "Never Meet Your Heroes" is only the beginning installment (thankfully) so there's still plenty of time to remedy the concerning situation. I'm simply acknowledging how based upon first impressions, in comparison to Loki, Falcon & The Winter Soldier & WandaVision (etc. That all attempted something new - narratively - distinguishing themselves immediately as viable properties within the MCU, imbuing the leads with an individualistic style / direction / identity / purpose), this feels like the most unadventurous, "safe" & generically average season produced by Kevin Feige thus far. Essentially, a soulless marketable product - which will no doubt be profitable for the studio, irrespective of its sizeable investments - yet despite that inevitable success, I have to question whether it'll be earned - because it's lacking in charm or any semblance of uniqueness / personality.

This was such a fun and fast paced premiere episode. This episode went over so fast and I can't wait to watch the next episode. Also I'm very excited for the Kate and Barton team up.

Slow introduction
elliotpower200026 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Quite a slow introduction to the first episode however I understand that it is to introduce all of the characters and set the scene for the rest of the season however I wish it could've been a bit quicker. Quite a few laughs and a small bit of action.

A great start
mmcardoso-1402224 November 2021
The beginning of this episode was something I wasn't expecting and I'm glad it was this way. Hailee Steinfeld is perfect as MCU's Kate Bishop and it's good to see Jeremy Renner being able to do more as Clint Barton/Hawkeye. Looking forward for the duo Barton and Bishop.

Weekly "Christmas-fun"
Sjamanen24 November 2021
Its a solid start of The show that is just as I expected: "Christmas-fun" with action. Its good wednesday entertainment, but not too much more, so dont expect it to blow your mind or be on the same level as The Loki series.

First 2 eps are quite predictable, but I could see the episodes get more and more interresting though, as the story develops and Characters like Yelena shows Up.

Solid start of The show; 7/10.

A great and fun first episode and introduction to the series and Hailee and Jeremy are already killing it. The vibe of the show is a bit dark in tone yet it's fun and action packed and has that die hard and lethal weapon Christmas and buddy fun feels🏹🎯💜

Can anyone explain what's going on
bobetjo24 November 2021
I know it's the start and some things will becomes clear later. But I could not understand what the scenes were about. I wonder if it was badly edited because there seemed little continuity. Hope it picks up.

I especially liked the part where the teenage girl overpowered the fully grown male with sturdy shoulders. That was totally realistic and belivable with no superpowers!

Never Meet Your Heroes
kaden_lewis6 December 2021
Amazing start to the show! I loved everything about this episode, especially Rogers The Musical, and Lucky the Pizza Dog. But my favorite part of the episode was how they introduced Kate Bishop. This was sort of a Kate Bishop solo episode, yes Clint was in the episode but he has sort of a minor role. All he did was spend time with his kids trying to have a good Christmas (which I don't really blame him for). I really liked this because it gave a lot more time to get an introduction to Kate's character. At the beginning of the episode we also got her origin story that took place during Avengers (2012), which I really liked.

The introduction to her character, and her actions in this episode set up the whole show, and based on what I have seen, it will be good. I can't wait!
