One of my first anime's ever
nofacemonster18 September 2013
I have only a very little memory of it because this is one of my first anime's I've seen. I saw it when i was around 5 years old back in mid 80's. It was shown in national TV channel for Saturday morning cartoon. it was amazing and i loved the every bit of it. It was called "Thunder Sub". I even wanted my birthday cake to look like the ship. It was that good, if you are in to classic anime with some good story line and sea battles. Go for this, you won't regret. I am in search for this series to see again. the quality of animation may not be up to the current day standard but keep in mind that good anime is not only the graphics of it but the story as well. It's a awesome tale of a sub and it's crew fighting against evil.

One of the best anime ever made

Warning: Spoilers
Thundersub, blue Noah, or simply the blue submarine, is one of the best Japanese anime ever made in my opinion. The storyline, music, animation... all are very impressive and very touchy. This anime was a huge inspiration for me growing up in the 80's and the 90's... The English interpretation is not the best but it is OK for what it is...

The anime has a very nice and clear message, the poor Gothamites followed mindlessly Dictator Z who promised them a dream Satellite that would save the Gotham race from a total annihilation as a result of an approaching blackhole, a destiny earth itself could find itself in (well not a blackhole but maybe a massive meteoroid). Due to faults in the satellite design, Dictator Z insisted on taking the earth knowing it's inhabited by humans. Captain Noah takes on the responsibility of fighting back with a crew of young men and 1 woman (that Captain's own daughter). The anime progresses slowly until the defeat of Gotham and ends with younger generation becoming in charge to prevent similar events of happening again.

What a great great great Anime! I would really tnank everyone involved in the making of this.

My first anime
vagsav8124 October 2013
It was my first anime when I was 8-9 years old. At that period I didn't know what "anime" meant. It is still in my heart. A very nice plot, which is very moving. The earth is united against aliens without discrimination between nations, without flags (we all know how the USA flag looks like)and without the usual propaganda that you can see nearly in every movie (especially if they are produced in a particular country...).

I never had the chance to watch all the episodes, because they weren't available on TV (I think only half of them or even less). I would like to watch it now in Japanese with English subs. I managed to find only one episode (the 26th) on you-tube. How can I find the whole series?

The anime released in 1979, is a captivating animation series that holds a special place in the hearts of many fans of classic anime. Set in a dystopian future, the series follows the crew of the Blue Noah, a technologically advanced submarine, as they strive to protect Earth from invading aliens. The show combines thrilling action sequences, memorable characters, and thought-provoking themes to deliver an immersive experience.

One of the standout aspects of "Blue Noah" is its impressive animation quality, particularly considering its release during the late '70s. The attention to detail in the mechanical designs, underwater landscapes, and battles with extraterrestrial threats is truly commendable. The show's animation team skillfully brings the futuristic world to life, allowing viewers to fully immerse themselves in its captivating atmosphere.

Moreover, "Blue Noah" succeeds in creating a diverse and relatable cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. From the determined Captain Okita to the skilled pilot Katsumi, the crew members of the Blue Noah form a tight-knit group that viewers can't help but root for. Their struggles, sacrifices, and camaraderie add depth and emotional weight to the series, making it more than just an action-packed adventure.

Furthermore, the underlying themes explored in "Blue Noah" offer food for thought. The show touches upon topics such as environmentalism, the consequences of human actions, and the importance of unity in the face of adversity. Through its storytelling, "Blue Noah" encourages viewers to reflect on the impact of their choices and the significance of preserving our planet.

While "Blue Noah" may have been produced over four decades ago, its timeless appeal continues to captivate audiences. The series stands as a testament to the creativity and innovation of the anime industry during that era. Whether you're a fan of classic anime or looking to explore the roots of the genre, "Blue Noah" is undoubtedly a series worth watching.
