Word came down over the weekend that "The Paul Reiser Show," had been cancelled after only two episodes, due to poor reviews and dreadful ratings. It wasn't a huge surprise: It wasn't a very good show; NBC had very little faith in it (the network pushed back its premiere nearly a full television year); Paul Reiser is not exactly popular, having disappeared from television and film after the end of "Mad About You"; and the debut episode was the lowest-rated in-season comedy debut ever on NBC, scoring only 3.4 million viewers. (The time slot will be occupied by "The Office" reruns for the rest of the season).
Given the time and money put into a scripted series, it takes a particularly nasty brand of heinous to get yanked that quickly. But, two episodes is not the quickest a scripted television series has been pulled off the air. There are quite a few reality ("The Hasselhoffs,...

Last week, Fox pulled the comedy/reality series Anchorwoman after just one airing due to low ratings. Series star Lauren Jones learned of the cancellation on Thursday and told the NY Post, "I was completely shocked." The network plans to post the remaining episodes online but the series' star doesn't think the show is over.
Not content to accept defeat, Jones says that the Anchorwoman's producer is actually shopping the series to other venues including E! Entertainment Television, MTV and other cable stations. If this happens, the remaining episodes won't be posted on Fox's site as previously announced.
In spite of Fox's quick cancellation, Jones sees the whole experience as being very positive -- especially for her career. She said, "I actually benefited because I got so much publicity. I have so many offers on the table and everyone's been so supportive. No one has yanked those offers." Jones...

Fox has yanked Anchorwoman off the air less than 24 hours after the reality/comedy hybrid's putrid debut Wednesday.
Anchorwoman, chronicling swimsuit model Lauren Jones' attempt to become a TV journalist in Tyler, Texas, came in a distant fourth with two back-to-back episodes in the 8 p.m. hour. It averaged 2.7 million viewers and a 1.0 rating/3 share in the adults 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The remaining six episodes of Anchorwoman' s eight-episode order will be available on the Fox on Demand section of Fox.com and MySpace.com. Its spot on the schedule will be taken by repeats of " 'Till Death."
In addition to heavy promotion, Anchorwoman received substantial prelaunch publicity as its premise of a model-turned-TV anchor caused a stir in journalistic circles and was accused of devaluing the work of real journalists.
The 8 p.m. Wednesday slot was ruled by CBS' Power of Ten (8.7 million, 2.3/7), which inched up to its best Wednesday numbers.
NBC took 9 p.m.

Could former World Wrestling Entertainment model Lauren Jones learn to become a serious TV journalist? Well, few cared enough to tune in to Anchorwoman's premiere last night and now, Fox has pulled the comedy/reality series from the airwaves.
Anchorwoman debuted with a double dose of half-hour episodes last night. Despite lots of promotion, the episodes attracted an average of just 2.7 million viewers. This poor showing put them in a distant fourth place for the 8-9pm hour -- even lagging behind reruns of According to Jim. As a result, Anchorwoman has been pulled from the Fox schedule, less than 24 hours after its debut.
Fox had ordered eight episodes of the series and the remaining six will be released via Fox.com and the network's page on MySpace. Repeats of 'Til Death will replace Anchorwoman on Wednesday nights for the next three weeks. Stay tuned!

Anchorwoman, a new Fox reality series scheduled to premiere sometime this summer, will drop model and ex-wwe "uber vixen" Lauren Jones (pictured above) into the midst of the Kytx-tv newsroom in Tyler, TX. ...And yes, this is for real, with "reigning" real-life Kytx anchor Annalisa Petraglia "not about to lose her Queen Bee status to some L.A. hottie," says Fox.
