Superior Reworking Of Pilot Episode
TheFearmakers27 February 2022
Chad Everett is one actor who makes Gary Lockwood blend into the background, and that's the purpose... Everett, a college football star whose uncle is a military leader, takes over Lockwood's unit for a week, and does everything to not only compete with our titular hero but to beat him, in both looks and actions...

Of course Everett is too good to be true and he's really a corner-cutting flake deep down... Which is another spin on the pilot where Bill Bixby, as Lockwood's charming yet crooked old friend, basically puts him through the same kind of ringer (both Everett and Bixby also giving the stalwart working-class sergeant a run for the money)...

MAN WITH AN EDGE is the best episode of the series, as it not only has a great competitive guest star but really showcases the importance of Lockwood in the main role as THE LIEUTENANT, a rank caught between sometimes uncomfortably between the lower and upper parts of the military.
